We are setting off to discover the Sultanate of Oman, in the Persian Gulf, the orient of the thousand and one nights. It is also the land of the Bedouins. Director: Maud de Bohan Original Title: Somewhere on Earth: Oman
I worked in Oman from 1989 to 2007. Loved the country side the wadi and all the Bedouin people. Loved eating mabsali dates and khallas. Loved the halwa made in Nakhl. What a paradise in the oasis. Stunning and memorable experience.
I visited Oman in 2014. I spent 3 weeks traveling around the country. It was the most relaxed, calm, friendly, and peaceful country I've ever visited. Such a beautiful place and wonderful people. I hope to visit it again someday.
Exactly 40 years ago I lived in Oman and had the opportunity to travel all over. Fell in love with this beautiful country ❣️🌹it was no tarmac roads in those days only the one from the airport to Muscat 😊
@@KD400_ she can walk alone because its Islamic culture to have a guard with a women, its not enforced by law (+ oman is safe for a woman without a guard) What you're talking about is in shari3h (Islamic law), its laws we Muslims follow wich has nothing to do with the countrys political situation.
The full outfit, burka and the mens attire perfectly sits well with the climate here. The sand dust and sunny weather. It is so awe inspiring to see their ways and survival across millennia. Respect to those who are preserving their history and ways
After the Bahrain documentary, I'm looking forward to watch other Middle Eastern countries in the next episodes. Thanks for showing Oman, I barely see documentaries about the country.
Tranquillity is what defines the hinterlands of Oman . Be it the endless deserts, vibrant mountains or the pristine beaches there is serenity all around. The people are extremely welcoming and rooted in their culture. A realisation that nature reigns supreme can be felt while traversing even the most remote wadi.Having travelled across some of the beautiful landscape all i can say is a prayer - Stay Blessed Oman ❤️ 🙏
I've never had a chance to say hello to someone in Qatar, Hello from Washington state, USA! The western world needs to know more about the history and people of the middle east, we learn barely anything in school here and I think that ends up contributing to the problem of racism, overall. I enjoyed this documentary, what a beautiful place. Peace and cheers from the wet and cold pacific northwest.
The Bedouin an ancient tribal culture that brings harmony and bliss..they have the secrets to keep this life style perpetually sustained..a beautiful place indeed.❤
A very interesting Documentary 'of the land' of the Bedouins and the mountain Bedouins. Those who are keepers of the land and what it produces, their love of what they do and commentment full heartedly is really quite amazing.
I lived in Al Ain which was a 10 min drive to the border of Oman- I spent a lot of weekends in this wonderful country! Something about it is so untouched and amazing!
What magnificent insight into a world I have never known. It's more beautiful than I imagined. And what wonderful people! It's magnificent it's beautiful and it is a tribute to our grand creator. This is a beautiful beautiful part of the earth
Masha'allah! What a wonderful glimpse into Bedouin traditions that go back thousands of years. The first time I saw a falaj, I had to climb into it and paddle - much to the enjoyment of the locals :) I am married to an Omani and although he was raised in the cities of the Gulf, he is never happier than when in the desert. I was disappointed a little that we did not see the amazing skills of the boat builders of Sur... maybe next time :) Bravo and Mabrook for such a wonderful look at this country and their traditional ways. Water is life.
This is a wonderful documentary. Thank you so much for putting together something that people all around the world can view and gain understanding of this region
There's a saying here: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. These people know this and do what works for them and their land. Others could learn from them.
This docu is very interesting to me because I lived in Muscat for more than 4 years and worked as a nursing instructor in the Oman Nursing Institute before I came here to the US. I was able to go to different parts of Oman and I admire its landscape.
I live on the edge of a volcanic desert where one can see up on the slopes, islands of forest spared from recent eruptions. There some similarities, though here, the people of old are no more. I am happy to see the people from Oman living their beautiful lives within nature. Thank you!
Fascinating. I love deserts. I am fascinated by them. The desert/s here are particularly magnificent. True deserts. 🏝 I love the palm tree mountainside oasis which Said created. Truly heavenly. 💙
