Good for Shania. Too often Dwight has been underrated and not promoted enough. His songs are up there with the best and timeless. The way country music is promoted in the States and radio is shameful. Too many inferior artists are promoted when a real musician is overlooked.
You know it's all about the money.... So many great artist's and you never hear about them- It's all pop now, Nashville is dead, the best stuff is coming out of Texas IMO-
I wish he would record like he used to in the 90s. I'm hoping in today's world people will be able to hear his music and give him the credit he deserves.
@@stoneman28 He's right. Read (in a reputable source) about Dwight's early years and that will be mentioned. Crazy, because Dwight has beautiful vocals and talent.
In my opinion Dwight Yoakum is one of the most talented and most under appreciated and attended artists/performers in the music industries. He has about 5 distinct voices if you know his music. He can sing like Elvis, Buck, Waylon and Merle all on the same album. His songwriting is pure poetry. Just listen to 'The Heart That You Own' for example. He's a genius. I miss him and hope he finds his way back to writing and performing again if thats what he chooses and what would make him happy. Thank you for pointing out just how so very incredible Dwight is and how blessed we are to be alive at the same time as him. ❤
He’s always cool. Always. He just sang on Jimmy Kimmel. I thought maybe he was releasing a new Christmas album. Guess not. I did find the 96 version but I absolutely love the way his voice has matured! Yes I bought the original cd. But I’d still buy the updated version! He’s special. 🤗🫶🏼😎

Willie wasn't a drinker, he was a pothead. Waylon wasn't a drinker, he was heavy on Amphetamines until around 1976 or 77 when his drummer switched him over to cocaine because they thought the speed was going to kill him. Decades ago pharmacies sold pills that were Methamphetamine mixed with phenobarbital for weight loss. I think they were called Ambar or Anbar. The advertisements would show a chubby girl in the marching band. Many of the musicians of that era were on those pills because it helped them stay active on their tours and awake all night to party.
Thats what the new era of recording companies didnt like, entertainer's who was real, like Waylon, Willie, Dewight, Chris, Hank Jr., Travis Tritt, etc. because they wouldnt agree with the BS of major music labels.
