This redeems so much of my childhood being stuck in the back seat listening to my mom belt this out until I can’t take it anymore. Thank you for your service.
You just gave my husband and I our only regret - that you weren't around to play this version at our wedding in 1999. Dang, man. This is your best one yet!
God damn. Its weird how old was Alex in 99. I was like 8, so he can't be further from that lol. But congrats on the long lasting marriage. Alhamdulillah
Since my wife and i started dating 8 years ago this was the song we used to jam out to and quote to each other on anniversaries, started out as a meme and now this is our song! Glad to have a Emo version of it now lol
Mad props on your musical journey man. You went from "if blink wrote X" and imitating Tom Delonge, to finding your own voice. A lot of people get stuck on that imitation step, but you moved passed that. Its still very obvious you're inspired by blink, but this is undeniably YOUR voice, and I think thats so cool.
My daughter was listening to the original version of this just yesterday and it was stuck in my head all night. Thx for making it something so much better! You saved my sanity.
There's something about taking a song with well written lyrics and pairing it with creative chord progressions and song structure that elevates it that much more. You guys took a great song and made it better. You should be proud of this!
been listening to all of your stuff lately. freaking awesome (listened to Hey Ya! at least 10x in the past 24 hours).... but what amazing thing I'm not seeing anyone else chime in on is the amazing fact that you reset the drum kit for every video and every time you use it. bravo.
Dude! Thank you for doing this! It's no lie to say that I've been waiting for this punk cover for 20+ years. I was just telling my wife about how I always wanted New Found Glory or someone to cover this song.
This is beyond amazing! 🙌 Just like any of your covers. I hope you'll do Runaway by The Corrs. I haven't heard anyone do an emo version of it. Curious of how it will sound.
My levels of enjoyment listening to this: Phase 1 - Classic Alex pop punk bop, like it a lot. I wonder how the original sounded like... Phase 2 - *Chorus Hit* OH, I've heard this before, nice! *head bangs moderately* Phase 3 - *Chorus hits the second time* Holy fuck, this is slapping me harder than before! FUCK YEA! *Full torso head banging ensues* 🤘🏽
😮😮😮 Holy shit!! What a fn genius! I watch and watch. I never comment, but follow very closely. Ive been playing music for years. Multiple instruments. You, sir! Damn, and Damn again!
I'm just gonna keep listening to this every time the RU-vid algorithm serves it up. 😊 The original dropped in 1997, peaking on the charts in 1998. My wife and I met a year later in 1999. When we got engaged in 2001, there were some who though we were too young, so the lyrics of this song just resonate personally. Alex's arrangement just sends it way over the top! 🤌
Got'damn, Alex got the grippers out, and for FREE!? Just kiddin', great as always man. Probably my favorite day of the week when I see a new song in the Sub box~
Incredible, as always! I'm really hoping one of these days you do a heavy rock cover of "Fix You" because I've always felt like that song was building to a heavy rock finish.
Love that u got me into country man, started with the country covers then I moved on to the pop punk covers of country songs and then full circle to the original country music, ur a beautiful human.
These covers are amazing! It really makes you appreciate how strong the composition of the originals were that they're able to be played in a totally different style and still hold up. Amazing work!
