I loved all the renditions, especially "Pallavi" - Raga Simhendramadhyamam. I am making an effort to listen to all the ragas, and in the process I chanced upon this video. I am leaving the timings here, just in case if anyone else is a newbie here or would want to directly stream the specific piece. @@vetrivelmurukan4337 But for U. Ve. Sa (a brahmin) sincere efforts we would have lost all the Sangam Tamil classics. He patiently gathered all the manuscripts. There are 19 direct references to andhanar and their Vedic practices in Puranaanooru. In fact, many of the Sangam poets were Brahmins. Ravana who played Veena himself is a Brahmin. Agathiyar who is adept in playing Veena (Yaazh) is also a Brahmin. Tolkaapiyar is a brahmin. Nearly 10,000+ lines of Sangam works were contributed by Brahmins. Nachinarkiniyar who wrote commentaries on important Sangam works is a brahmin. Having said that people from different walks of life have contributed to Tamil culture. The point I want to drive is that music is beyond caste, sex, and religion. Kindly do not bring the caste angle to this forum.

The Veena recital is very good. I enjoyed it very much. But it is the Changing faces in the Video Clip that is a bit of a distraction when I looked at the screen and reduced my enjoyment to its fullness. Live recitals are different but not the poses like these, like .road adds. Sorry to say that but the soulful music is Godly and all the Carnatic music is dedicated to Gods and meant for it, that is why it is soulful when played and sung by genius Artists. The video makers must keep that in mind and not to spoil. One non moving picture of the Artist will be sufficient.

Periyathambi Sambath Thank you for your Reply. You are right about Music. It is for the ears but when people sit near to listen to it, which is always the case, you are bound to look at the screen also, now and then. If the music is only for the ear we all can listen at home. We go to concerts to listen to live Music and see the artists. They are not moving on the stage like dancers. Their stage movements and facial expressions and emotions are different to a moving image on a screen for no reason. This sort of art is not portraying the artist truthfully. My comment came from genuine observations. The Comments are to express opinions and that is my opinion. May be the Artist and the Video producer might think on it.

Both the fourth and fifth pieces together is called as Ragam, Tanam and Pallavi (RTP). RTP is the highest form of improvisation in Carnatic music. The melody (Ragam) is Simhendramadhyamam. In the Raga alapana, Jayanthi akka does griha bedhem to Bowli briefly before she comes back to Simhendramadhyamam. Her tanam needs no introduction/explanation. Akka's hand technique while playing the tanam is unique and invokes a sense of bliss that one can only experience but never describe in words. The Pallavi contains a short piece of composition (One can hear Akka singing "Muthu Kumarane Isai Kumarane Yennakarulavaa Senthil Nathane ..." while playing though not clear). Usually, the Pallavi is composed by the musician himself/herself or may play some popular Pallavi composed by experts/stalwarts. Akka changes Gathi while playing the Pallavi. A brilliant rendition of Simehendramadhyamam.
