Well done Pritam Singh, a well deserving Eyes to Eyes contact with his opponent while he bite his words in complete clarity during his rebuttal. This is the quality of true leadership that Singaporeans need, IMO.
Waste of time.Marriage of same sex is out.We should talk more of how to help Singaporeans in difficult times ie defeating inflation & rising cost of living.
Why should they surrender their birthright to be equal human beings and citizens? You are clearly demonstrating oppressive dictatorial tendencies to exclude others to increase your own toxic undeserved space.
The double edge sword of the internet and such videos is that it clearly exposes the bullies and the righteous. Pritham is a brilliant, world class individual and his fellow members and opposition all demonstrated high civic, moral and intellectual integrity. Such mundane exchanges where one side resorts to personal barbs and fantasizes about train crashes ad nauseam. Enough already.
Why wasted time and money on this 377A debate...better solves our daily life issues of high cost inflations. Debate on recently reported Temasek million $$$ losses .
Why is Shanmugam putting his personal opinion in Parliament? Who cares what he thinks? We wanna know what PAP or the govt stand is. And when it comes to WP or the opposition, he doesn’t want to know their personal opinion but the opposition or party stand. What kind of logic is this?
I think he is absolutely irrelevant to the 377A Bill. Why must he Politicize the Subject onto the "Workers' Party as to whether the Party made a stand yesterday or not? I ceased to understand the PAP nowadays . While Pritam Points were full of substance and reasonings to convince in substantiation. I am amazed, his brain is like an encyclopedia. Hence, I see It as a blessing for Singapore to have Pritam in Parliament. Pritam Singh, World Class PM Quality.
As I understand Singapore's ruling party proposed the decriminalisation of homosexuality. This was passed by Parliament. However, they preserved the narrow meaning of 'marriage' to mean between between men and women. I see this as a socially progressive move, in the Asian contest. I don't understand many of the comments here from, I assume, Singaporeans. They seem to knock the Govt, praise the opposition (Mr Singh) but without seeming to understand the issues. LGBT equality directly affects very few people, and a wide public debate may soon stir up prejudices that generate more heat than light. I think the S'pore government has handled the issue well.
@@lovelandkrisstopher4404 Major problem? You mean Singaporeans will find out that homosexual sex has been decriminalised, get curious, try it, like it and turn gay? Or that a lot of Singaporeans are disappointed because anything legal is less fun?
@@martycrow like you said in your earlier comment they are a minority, for this reason they will start recruiting more people into their caucus beginning from kids, then to schools then to speech. There is nothing wrong with living with them but the strategy of advocacy is where people fault. Forcing everyone to accept what they think is right and any other thing is wrong. Singapore politics will now shift to identity politics and that’s the biggest danger. Nice way to dilute democracy
someone trying to twist witch hunt and nail something not said or intend by the Opposition Leader, pansy trying, but hopefully that if this is Watch by the Greater populace of SG, they shall have the verdict in finale what is the substance of the debate.
That's a public policy issue because definition of marriage dictates housing policy, family welfare etc. Should govt also hold referendum for all that too? That won't be fair. If you don't like it, then feel free to change the regime.
Any links or clarification some netizens don't really knows what is 377A.. does it matter to most citizens? Does it really affected our citizen livelihood ? Why bring up sensitive topic , what's the percentage/numbers of LBTQ in SG currently to have this topic relevant to all Singaporeans?
Not really sure about that… gay have been around all along and the law is around for quite a long time. Not too sure why the sudden inspiration to make a change. By the way, any news about Lee Hsien Yang son?
@@Gaytayy this is madness, in future we see men and men, women and women at ROM to register their marriage, then if they adopt kids, we see 2 fathers or 2 mothers with their kids outside public
Next will have less population in singapore if man and man or women and women marriage. Reasons of marriage is to have kids. That what our government wants. To have next generation in singapore.
I agree with Mr. Shanmugam's said, respectfully, Your point of view is to make the house of Singapore a conservative country to follow our country's system. so sorry that a man marrying a man can’t make Singaporean will become messy.
But the SG Parliament just voted to decriminalise homosexuality, but reserved marriage for heterosexuals. Is that not "messy"? Do you understand what's going on?

@@mayleecheemee7335 Haha! So many contradictions in what you say. You don't have to be married to have sex of any kind. Married men can be affected by STDs even when they are married. Good sexual and reproductive health is achieved through information, education, public health medical capacity and citizens who try to maintain best practice. I hope that helps! Comparing 377A debate to abortion and human organ transplant issues doesn’t seem appropriate. The latter 2 are a matter of life and death… whether non straight people can get married doesn’t carry as much severity.. furthermore government already lifted 377A. Although marriage definition was strengthened. Ultimately laws are for the majority and not the minority.
that is if the laws that affect the minority also affect the majority, changing the deffintion of marriage will not ban traditional marriage it would just allow gay marriage, so i dont see the issue
I'm not Singaporean. I recall that Mr Singh was suspended by the Parliamentary Standards Committee (I think) over covering up lies told by one of his Party's MPs. What eventually happened? Is he and his party still trusted?
I honestly think Mr PS isn’t covering up anything he ask RSQ to speak the truth…if u buy a loft of bread and found on sliced is spoil doesnt mean all breads and spoiled
@@saifulredzuan5236 Your Parliament didn't see it that way and censured him. The MP admitted to lying (to Parliament, then to Mr Singh). He left it to her, saying something about taking secrets to the grave. Your comparison with a loaf of bread is not applicable.
Next this LGTBQ demands for house purchase with marriage cert MAN & MAN…then they will see the impact on housing policies ..MAN & MAN both are working adult leaving the Male and Female couple face problem in buying house
Westminster system is about attacking the opponent when there is an opportunity? Mr Shanmugam, your beloved British Empire is now a little UK, very soon it might become little Britain. Mr Shanmugam, your PAP's style of Westminster system is in need of a reform. We don't need group think. Ha ha ha!

If you look at WP, you find them standing everywhere because the party cannot decide which way the wind is blowing. A government cannot always do popular things. There will be times when they have to do the necessary but unpopular. Richard Weng wrote: I share one of my old post again on The Worker Party not willing to make a stand on 377A. Even up till today, Pritam Singh is officially making a stand that there is no common stand within the WP team. Again, even for a topic like 377A the WP is not able to make a political stand on, what else can they make a stand on if they are hard decisions to be made for the country? Making a stand politically doesn't mean that every single member has to agree with the narrative but it does show your ability to band the party together despite having people in the camp who have a different view point. Imagine in a war, some may agree to fight, and some not agree, however, as a leader, you would regardless need to band the party together and still convince people to move forward together to fight the war and not give the option to those who do not want to fight to leave. This is not what a responsible and capable leader should do. Once again, just as what I had expected and said in my previous post, WP is always a party who blows with the wind and they are just not a party who wants to make a stand as any stand would risk offending a particular party. They would rather keep it safe and stay in the middle. Once again, it proves my point that the current WP leadership is just not good enough for Singapore. Where is the political courage again from WP?
PAP want to repeal because they losing votes over this. Its about agenda than making a stand lol. WP is not so affected by this 377A. In my view vote like western democracy is more appropriate for this type of law, each mp should have their own say regardless of party. If go to national referendum, the result will not repeal in my view.

LGBT is a habit that develops over time. These people require our love and encouragement for rehabilitation alike drug abusers. But the government is indirectly showing their support by acknowledging and accepting their presence. They have strong negative impacts on our society as a whole be it significant or not.
