If you are to take up the call of spiritual warriorship, you must remain vigilant that in the lack of awareness, ignorance will grow. As you pay attention to yourself-your thoughts, speech, actions, and beliefs-you deprive ignorance of a fertile field in which it can take root. 2. Courage A spiritual warrior has courage. Martial artist Bruce Lee said, “Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one.” This is what it means to have courage. As previously explained, the path of the spiritual warrior is not necessarily easy. You can face danger, fear, pain, and uncertainty on the path to spiritual mastery. Spiritual warriors press on when confronted with adversity, doubt, or the inconsistencies or irrationality of their beliefs and behavior. This doesn’t mean you don’t feel the fear; it means you feel it and keep going. Deep down you know that the enlightenment you seek is worth enduring the temporary discomfort of the journey. 3. Discipline Next, the spiritual warrior possesses discipline. Discipline is the ability to restrain yourself-to control your impulses, desires, or emotions for the sake of improvement. It’s important to note that such discipline comes not from some outside authority, rather the spiritual warrior forges in the fire of your will. You make the difficult choice to pursue spiritual practices or Sadhana over the often more comfortable or conventional ways of life with the intention of attaining higher states of consciousness. Discipline can also mean simply staying on the path. The spiritual warrior knows there will be obstacles on the journey, but when those occur, self-discipline keeps you keeping on when others are content to quit. 4. Relentlessness Relentlessness is another key attribute of the spiritual warrior. Being relentless refers not to being harsh or inflexible. Rather it implies a persistent and determined intention to seek out false beliefs, attempts to fool yourself, and ego delusions. The spiritual warrior understands that ignorance is a tenacious adversary that requires daily and consistent attentiveness so as to not let it take you by surprise. Relentlessness also means ruthlessly slaying the 1,000-headed dragon of self-importance. Your sense of self-importance can slow spiritual progress and obscure your understanding of who you really are. Relentlessly seeking out opportunities to subjugate the ego creates space for spirit to enter your life. Self-love starts with self-care. You don’t push or demand that the universe comply with your wishes. Instead, you recognize that a bigger picture is unfolding; in the absence of a broader perspective, you can’t always know what action to take. Therefore, you can calmly be in the moment and wait for the universe to act. When the right time becomes known, the spiritual warrior seizes the opportunity and takes spontaneous and transformative right action. 7. Sweetness The spiritual warrior also possesses sweetness. Sweetness might seem like a strange attribute of the spiritual warrior, something associated with weakness or sentimentality. In this context, however, sweetness refers to impeccability in word and action. The spiritual warrior holds yourself to the highest of standards, refraining from anything that could be considered potentially cruel or hurtful. As the Dalai Lama reminds you, “Compassion and tolerance are not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength.” It’s easy to be hurtful and mean to yourself or others. Kindness, compassion, and sweetness in the face of anger or ignorance require enormous strength and understanding. Seeing the world from higher ground allows you to act and speak from a place of sweetness that benefits everyone you encounter. 8. Love The final quality of the spiritual warrior is love. To the spiritual warrior love is all that is. It is the core of your being and core of all other beings. Removing the veils of love is the spiritual warrior’s quest. You exist with love at your source, but often it lies hidden beneath anger, trauma, or suffering. Expanding the field of love for both yourself and others is the ultimate goal of the spiritual warrior. Love heals all wounds. It is that transformative power that can change the world. The spiritual warrior shines the light of your love into the darkness of ignorance, not to destroy it, but to transmute it into knowledge. When the spiritual warrior possesses these attributes you become a powerful force for change in the world. The spiritual warrior fights against the self-delusion, fear, and ignorance that create suffering in your life. This battle is fought within; an effort to shed the chains of conditioning and false beliefs that lie within you. The reward of this campaign is the expansion of consciousness; the spiritual warrior becomes a beacon of awareness who brings healing to the entire world.
Oh my God... I still get emotional everytime I see videos about Bruce Lee and Brandon. Since I was a child, Bruce Lee is my biggest hero who gives me purpose of my life. Rest in greatness Master Lee.
I'll be 54 this year and Bruce Lee has been my hero ever since I was 5 years old. I bought all his films and showed them to my kids who became fans inspired by him. His philosophy, drive and skill in martial arts continues to inspire me today. Rest In Power Master Lee and thank you! 🙏

I was actually in the same year as Brendon Lee during our times in La Salle Primary School in Kowloon. We all knew that he was Bruce Lee's son but because he was in the A level English language classes so I don't know him personally. I've seen Linda Lee picking up Brendon a couple of times but not Bruce Lee because he was obviously busy making movies. What I would give to have met him. My mum (a folk singer) had the privilege of once meeting Bruce Lee on TVB and brags that she felt the callus on his hands and it was as thick as the soles of the feet, and she said he pinch two fingers to lock on both wrists of Sandra Lang ("The Chopsticks" female duo) and that bond was unbreakable no matter how she twist and turn, and how Bruce Lee's muscles were hard like plate armour. She goes on and on. Bruce Lee was more then a Chinese and more then an American. He was a human who inspires a billion other human. A king amongst men. He was truly the best of us and may his legend lives on.
Bruce Lee is truly a king amongst men. He would never have kowtow to the Chinese Communist Party, unlike Jacky Chan who has broken so many bones that he is missing a spine.
He was smart and gifted, a great martial artist, a great athlete, a loving father and husband, a talented actor, a beautiful man and a nice person. Bruce Lee is in the hearts of thousands of millions until today.

Sifu Lee was a huge impact in my life. He was the reason why I got into martial arts. I used his philosophy in different ways. His " Fighting man Exercise " cardio regimen literally kept me "standing" while doing security in clubs and establishment s for 20 plus years and in 4 states. His philosophy helped me win a national title in 2011. To this day, Sifu Lee's words inspire to better me as a man. Before I leave this earth, I made a vow to pay my respects to this Great man. My " Teacher through pages". Your Father and Grandfather was truly a legend and a man ahead of his time and with that being said, Thank you Sifu. From the bottom of my heart... Thank you .
I was introduced to Bruce Lee at the age of 22. Having wrestled my whole life and taken an interest in MMA in the early days my opinion of traditional martial arts was, lets say naively, not great. I had taken my first job in sales as a young man and this other young man that was hired on kept asking me if I had ever read about Jeet Kune Do, and asserting that Bruce Lee could teach alot about the art of selling. Eager to better myself I, somewhat reluctantly, borrowed a Bruce Lee book. IMMEDIATE CAPTIVATION. Isn't that an impressionable stage of life, early 20s, wanting an amazing future, ripe for a philosophy to guide myself. Bruce Lee's message consumed me. I started watching all of his movies, and buying any material I could get my hands on be it books, or wall drapings to hang in my home office. Fast forward I'm now 42. I cannot overstate what this man has meant to my life in terms of my personal growth, my development as a business person, an athlete, a father, and as Bruce would say, a human being. Everything in my life is Jeet Kune Do. In my heart Bruce is my coach, my friend, my buddy, and confidant. He's been there at every stage, and will continue to be for ever and ever. This part summer, we road tripped from Las Vegas to LA, and adventured around, exploring the places Bruce and Linda lived, in and around the area, including the location of his martial arts studio, and his statue in China town. We even ran the hills that morning in Bel Air to just connect with Bruce's spirit. The more I learn about Bruce the more I realize he really was like this everyday man with incredible dreams and goals and the drive to pursue them. Through his personal struggles and triumphs he catapulted himself into eternity in our hearts and minds, and for many generations to come. We love you too Bruce Lee's family!! :) I was a kid of around 7-8 years when I first saw a Bruce Lee movie in a theatre in North Africa...the people _ everyone of all ages was jumping up and down cheering during a "movie" and after the movie finished too well into the street outside of the theatre...Never seen anything like it since and I've seen 100's of movies in movie theatres in my life- I've seen some of the best movies but this reaction to Bruce is still unmatched!!

Wow I cannot believe that it's been 80 years 20 more and will make it 100 That's amazing congrats as you know I'm one of the Bruce Lee's greatest fans growing up I watched all his movies My brother used to watch him all the time and I fell in love with Bruce Lee's moves enter the dragon. I will say it was one of the best movies that I will ever see. I'm just glad that the generation that even though he's not with us but his spirit lives on I know that he is watching from heaven and I know that he is very proud of his daughter and also of his granddaughter so the generation can go on and on until the end of time.

This is the love a daughter who barely got to meet his father and 81 years after she still celebrates his life during his time alive. That is an example for most of us to follow because it is so easy to get distracted with life and your own struggles that you forget about your parents and how much they did for you even when some of them were struggling as well. Good example! May her legacy continue generations to come for her and many of us.
I'm almost done reading Shannon's book, Be Water My Friend, and I'm so grateful that she wrote it. Amazing book! Thank you Shannon for bringing your father's wisdom and philosophy to us. Please write more books about him if you can.
My grandparents are buried in the same cemetery as Bruce Lee and there are always people paying respects at his grave when I drive by to leave the cemetery. On my last visit pre-COVID, I stopped and paid my respects too. The other people there were from South America and they had 'paying respects to Bruce Lee' on their things to do in Seattle list. Wow!
@@freddiereagan6705 Yes, I did. I usually pay respects whenever I do the same with my grandparents. The cemetery isn't hard to find if you are ever visiting Seattle, Washington. His son Brandon is buried beside him so it's sad when you consider both died young.

You could really see her looking like him if the grand daughter is like that even though Brandon was more like his mother but by looking at her you could tell she kept most of his genes so nice too see their eyes are identical. It must be amazing to have so much film/video footage of deceased loved ones to watch, a type of immortality, generations can see when you were alive long after you are gone.
