That approach of training super super hard preparing for game days is exactly how Manny Pacquiao was such a machine. I played 6 year's and agree with Unc. Nutrition definitely plays a part but you can eat junk on occasions but there was absolutely no way in hell I can go out and eat a Big Mac meal before 1:00 game.... the game has changed dramatically since I played, including facilities training nutrition Etc. For a young kid in the league now, not to utilize all those resources they're absolutely crazy.

If you have ever trained for long runs, you would have needed to be pretty oblivious to not notice how what you ate/drank the previous day impacted how good you felt when running the next day. It doesn’t take a lot to see how nutrition and improved physical performance align.

He's absolutely right there! I certainly did and was rarely hurt when I played HS ball. Hell, I used to do Construction or Landscaping during the day in my early 20's and go out to play B-ball or Volleyball @ Night for example.

His Mcdonalds diet argument is pretty weak since most of us know what that crap does to our bodies. Him eating McDonalds has nothing to do with his lack of injuries. However consuming nutritious foods has scientific evidence on your energy output, which can correlate with performance. It’s the same argument smokers make “I know someone who smoked for 70yrs and never had cancer”.
