The game was release on December 20, 2016 at least the digital version. They likely started the DLCs a few months later. But yeah, the game has been out over a year old.

I’m conflicted on this... part of me wants shantae more, but the other part of me feels smash is getting to eager to throw in every guest/third party character in it can, when there’s still so many untapped first parties who are imo far more deserving, and yes that includes dixie. She has the “ponytail as a weapon/tool” mechanic already down, and is a first party character. I mean in an ideal world I wouldn’t mind both, but I feel like their main gimmicks would overlap too much, and having a third party character have a similar semiclone moveset to a first party would be weird , especially when one is a monkey and the other a magic genie.

I wish there could be a collab of Shantae and NiGHTS. Feel like they would be great pals. One is energetic, chill and likes to hang out while going out to danger. And the other is mischievous, adventurous, cocky, free spirited and doesn't take none from nobody. Plus they got sass for years. I can just imagine Shantae relaxing on a float toy on the sea and NiGHTS either plays with Shantae's friends or fly across the water surface under jumping dolphins and around them.

it's been a while since i played this. give's me a reason to come back to it. i love this game. after playing things like gta, cod, 007 and more action and violence in a dark way. it was so much fun to play a platformer again. this is the first (and so far only) shantae game i played. yet it gave me nastoliga. from when i played super mario as a child. love it.

Yyyyeah, Holly has little ACTUAL character beyond being so narcissistic and egotistical that she managed to will herself back into existence after she died. Also, she really only has one ability, stealing memories, that doesn't have an exact combat application beyond maybe making the enemy forget how to fight. It would be rather painful to try and play as her(for both reasons). I could definitely see T&V having their own little adventure though. Perhaps a side-scrolling shooter kind of thing? I'd be totally into that.

MetaL556 Maybe Holly could use Yuri Sakazaki-ish butt attacks? Being able to hover with her pigtails, and maybe shapeshift like Shantae? And her story could be about her regaining her status as a hero, and realizing she has to be more than an egotist? At first she simply wants to become alive again, but then learns the truth about being a heroine, and must accept her being alongside Shantae? This would be a great way to develop her as a character. The "stealing memories" could be used to copy enemy powers.

ninja shantae looks interesting beach shantae looks annoying with the sunscreen gimmick really looking forward to mighty shantae force dont like the levels returning from friends till the end but im still looking forward to this
