This is awesome. Doesn’t look like you’re active on RU-vid anymore but if you ever get the chance, I’m sure we’d all love to see the rest of the videos of your journey. If you made them
You mentioned Harlan Hubbard early in your video. At around 2:50 in your video, where your shantyboat is cruising past that long industrial building with the green stripe near the roof, and that bridge (Interstate 275) is just a little downstream? Where that bridge leaves the left bank, (the Kentucky side), is right about where Harlan and Annie Hubbard built their shantyboat. Also, just downstream a hundred yards or so, is a cylindrical foundation emerging from the water, also on the Kentucky side. That is all that's left of the "Whirly", which was a crane on a turntable, that was used to lift logs that were floated down the river in big rafts, and load the logs onto railroad cars. That was also mentioned in "Shantyboat". The actual site of where Harlan Hubbard and his wife built their shantyboat is now buried under the fill on which the I-275 roadway was built.
I really love what you are doing!! I also would like to purchase a "A forgotten history of american river people" Tshirt. I am also working on a shanty boat myself. I live along the Arkansas River. Thank you for the inspiration!
Maddy...what about real-estate along the rivers. I wanna put a container house 40 miles out side a couple of mid-size cities (mini-marina). Think I'll find river front property? Lawson
And he stopped at the Ironton, Ohio marina for quite a while. And yes, I have lived practically on the banks of the Ohio river my entire life of 75 years, and have seen a shanty boat before, but it was around 50 years ago when I saw the last one!

To Wes: Could someone please name all the bridges. I'm an old Ohio-River-Rat , and I cannot recognize the new bridges, new highways, new buildings, along the OHIO.
