Wow, this is really impressing. This guy is really good, it's nice to see masters who teach traditional martial arts in a practical way, not only pure forms.
I have seen hundreds of Shaolin videos, but for the first time all the techniques are perfectly clear. I trained in Wing Chun for a while and find some similarities. Respect from Sri Lanka. Great stuff, Sifu!
All of the Grand masters of international temples the one in North London run RU-vid channels. There are about 8 or 9 that ove seen. People.dont realize the Shaolin are international now. There are 5 or 6 temples in USA i think and several of them in Europe.
I love how when you demonstrate your techniques you don't just say "he does this so i do this" like so many other guys do. You say "When he does this, I could do this AND if he does something to block and counter me then I have this option." So many demonstrators make it look like there is a definite way to block and counter anything and the opponent will be helpless; which is always wrong because the other guy can respond yo your initial response. Thank you for sharing
Dear Shifu KANISHKA, First, accept my appreciation of the speed, fluidity and multilevel application of self defence as applied by an advanced level Shaolin Xia Hong Expert, like You. Having spent over 30 years as an instructor of Goju-ryu Karate, teaching mostly beginners, I would encourage yout Shifu KANISHKA, to shouw the beginners, how to face aggressors with Maritala art knowledge above their level. Methodically, I am particularly fond of the last part of your presentation when fighting at a long distance and countering with legs, afgter moving to the sides. That approach could be taught at the beiginnig, as close distance is the matter of higher provicciency. Best regards, Paul Bajusz, 65, retired instructor from Europe.
Wow these are realy outstanding very effective techniques that look very familiar to me. Which are the circular and redirection theory. I was taught these, same techniques in Kyokushinkai Karate of which the basis is the circular shifting redirection with Ki/ Chi energy. Of which Tai Jutsu and Aikido use which are a part of advanced Kyokushin Karate techniques and training. The Master Sifu is Awesone. A True skilled deep well of knowledge and experience who reminds me of my Masters. Respect and admiration to the him, the Sifu Master Usu!
Thank You Shifu Kanishka for sharing your insights with the world who is ready for it. I started training at 12yo in karate at a community center for a measly $15/mo in the late 80s. My sensei would show up to every class infallibly, even when he was sick or injured. He would explore/explain a technique ad infinitum if we let him. When one loves an art/sport, one makes sacrifices without much of a fore thought. This Shifu seems to be made of the same stuff. To Mr S Kill GR, a lot of martial arts have evolved to sports because after all noone should die at a tournament. These arts were perfected in fields of battle/interpersonal combat. Jigaro Kano kept out a lot of the lethal techniques found in ju jitsu/s and Judo was the result. It evolved into more of a sport out of necessity to exist during the american occupation of japan. Before that Judo was still dangerous for it's practitioners sort of speak. Same thing with Karate. These arts had to survive in a different environment than what gave them birth. The UFC changed a lot after UFC five or six because it had the potential to be too brutal, politics aside. It is a great sport and I am a fan of it. We perfect what we practice mindfully. I don't think Shifu Kanishka is being irresponsible in his demonstrations. In fact, I am ever grateful for gift since I can see aspects of my arts application. Few hoodlums would take the time to understand/practice the techniques so they are useful. Bullets have empowered the coward. I wish I was as well spiritually developed as this Shifu. Eat bitter everyone!
Thank you so much Guys, I have got many emails, So Soon will make be demonstrating and explaining the Shaolin Form Luohan Shi Ba shou ( 18 Hands Of Luohan)
Thank YOU Shifu Kanishka! I personally don't know how to do too much even though I did a bit of learning from a few different teachers...I wish I could come to learn from you for a few weeks however there's $ ...and family etc. I do realize importance is first to help oneself be a better person and then ability to defend myself and my wife in these days is crucial- as you obviously know. So again thank you and I hope this you are able to read sooner than later (I'm sure you are recieving a lot of feedback.) God bless you and reply if you are able!
Thank u shifu kanishka sir.. Sir itna trick hi hum jaise ko yad kaise rahega..mai to 8 years k umar se betab tha but unfortunately zimmedaari k karan nahi kar paya.. But i love u sir
A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE STUDENT THAT TOOK ALL OF THOSE HITS AND FALLS, TO FACILITATE THIS DEMONSTRATION! I am a Level Seven in Wing Chun in Calgary Canada, and your demonstration was unusually impressive. The efficiency of movement is similar to how we train here.
Sifu Kanishka, this is one of the best, if not the best self defense video I have ever seen. In Japanese this would be called the bunkai, which is the practical application of the "kata" (or set). Thank you for sharing.
@@TheWhiteWolf2077 you cant fight me with pre aranged rooteens or moves from forms, you have to actually know how to fight, when you hear anyone saying if he does this you do that lol just laught and walk away because they have no clue what combat science is, unpredictable and always changing every second, this guy is just another clown
Fantastic movement, great to see traditional Kung fu applied well in non traditional situations, a man that has knows his art and has thought about its depth and experimented with it. Props
Shaolin quan in this video is definitely created by Chinese. Buddhism is originated from India, but the kongfu of Shaolin is from China. You can see the name of the moves is 'Shaolin Xiao Hong quan' which is a Chinese name, and the names of steps that the master are saying is Chinese pronunciation. I think the master's master is a Chinese. This is the best practical application of Shaolin quan I have ever seen though.
+Bingchen Li, you are so correct. I just researched it. Buddhism as a religion originated in India but Kung Fu as a Martial Art originated in a Buddhist shaolin Temple in China.
Watch all his vids he's not only a very skillful sifu but during his time at Shaolin he was very well respected there for his ability to learn and apply what he learned
It is not about what you guys like or dont like. It is also not about what will win you a title in the UFC. Martial arts is about having discipline and learning how to control your body. This guy can defend himself and really hurt people who mess with him. You guys need to stop posting fan boy comments and get out there and learn something.
Carlos, I agree with you 100%. I teach martial arts myself and one the things I teach my students is about showing courtesy and respect to others. I teach my students not to look for trouble or start fights and in some situations you are best to walk away. It doesn't mean you are afraid by walking away and I could seriously jack someone up if I had to but still, you never know when some guy is going to pull a gun out on you and blow your brains out because some guy don't care if they shoot someone and if they go prison for it, no big deal to them. It cracks me up when some guys come on and leave RUDE, NASTY, AND DISRESPCTFUL POSTS! Instead of appreciating the time this guy took to share some martial arts skills and just be thankful. Look, if someone doesn't like something, fine, but no need to be an asshole about it! So some of these guys have big mouths and act all bad ass and most of these guys have no class. Anyone can be all bad ass behind a computer screen! All my martial instructors have class and show others respect and yet they can clean someone's clock when they need to. To all the respectful guys here, my hat goes off to you. One, last thing....when someone is demonstrating a technique the other opponent isn't trying to kill the other guy! When you are teaching techniques you are not trying to kill someone in the process. So instead of being rude and a jerk, try learning something new and if feel you got to act like an asshole, try keeping your mouth shut instead! No disrespect here to anyone, just had to vent this.
one is makin money for the UFC producers, and personal fame the other is dedication to an art for the sake of the art and many other reasons i dont want to list here, because the initiated already know, and the haters can go and fuck themselves. - comparing a money-sport practised by people too stupid for a real job with a lifetime dedication to an art, the own school, students and teachers is outright foolish.
I train in Hok Kian Shaolin Wing Chun Kok Seut. I cannot help but see many of the concepts and techniques that evolved into modern-day Shaolin Wing Chun. Very cool and thanks for sharing. Amituofo.
Thank you Shifu Kanishka for giving people training in this form some more practical ideas to bring to their training. I'm wondering if you will be sharing ideas on Qixing quan too in future.
And me thinking that those are just some fancy moves for warm up😃 Am really fascinated by its applicability. . Good work Shifu. . you are an inspiration
He reminds me of a Lima Lama teacher I ounce trained with. He was very graceful when he did forms ( and he knew many movements ) but when it came to real application he was very forceful and extremely quick. There was no doubt in my mind he could take apart a persons body and destroy them very quickly. This is real martial arts here, the attacks to the vital points and damaging joint locks & hits to the limbs are no joke. This is deadly stuff. Real traditional MA can be formidable
Thank you so much for showing the practical application of shaolin kung fu. I see so many Americans who truly do not understand how effective and deadly this art is because of the lack of true understanding and how to effectively apply what has been taught to them or have learned from someone just teaching forms.
Excellent instruction and understanding of the practical applications of what we do. Many of us old timers in the arts know the techniques so well we do them without thinking about it a lot of the time, but to truly break it down and explain it, that takes a lot of understanding of their art and patience to explain it to others. Oss!
He's not concerned with looking pretty, he's beautiful, because he's functionally sound at a very high level. This is not a martial art, artsy fartsy look good dance. But something that carries the true meaning of martial. In this it is beautiful to behold, well done in the demonstrations. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your applications Shifu. I am an Okinawan Goju Ryu practitioner, however, I always acknowledge the Chinese roots of the system. The movements you demonstrated are similar to movements within some of the Goju Ryu kata. You have given me some things to incorporate in my training. Please continue to upload your videos.
Sir I have been to your place but unfortunately practised only a few days n had to leave due to some unavoidable reasons. Trust me guys just 3 days of practising made my body so light. I could imagine the health and swiftness the Shaolin guys have, who practise for years. I still would like to come back to this place.
i also feel kanishka master is the talence of martial arts. he grabs the soul of kung fu. Most foreigners kung fu practiser can not catch the point of every kung fu movement. this master can catch the soul of kung fu. I am also the chinese, maybe only chinese can see out who are the real kung fu master, lol
Приятно посмотреть, что не всё ещё забыто. Искусство не только увидеть, но и показать возможность использования механики движений и силы противника против него самого - это одна из основ.
I wish I was a student of him. Among all the training tactics I've watched in You Tube, he makes me understand these moves the easiest way possible. There is hardly any such efficient training instrument, expert teacher and proper martial arts lifestyle in the nearby states outside India. (I'm telling this because he's in India but I live in one of the countries, Bangladesh that is adjacent to India)
there is a lot of genius behind a tao, a form (no matter how you call it) woaw it is incredible. i'm so impressed. i did a little bit of shaolin kung fu and classes was only on tao and i was only repeatting movments that teachers was learning us to do without understanding what i what doing. but now i understand a little bit more.
The Yoga-ish exercises where taught to the monks by Bodhidharma, after he observed they where physically in bad shape. Afterwards, over long time the monks integrated the breathing techniques and the movements into their everyday-work and labor like cleaning, plowing in the fields, calligraphy writing and it slowly developed into Gong Fu. Great skills in Gong Fu is achieved with hard consistent practice, and Gong Fu itself, derives from hard consistent work and labor. Therefore named Gong Fu(功夫)
It is very good instruction. People must be made aware of the fact that a skilled western boxer, or nak muay ( Muay Thai practitioner) will not overextend their balance at all when throwing their punches, and will whip their hand in and out, straight back to their guard, while also moving rapidly in and out, and at many angles also, with rapid footwork. These factors must be considered in all students looking for practical application, in their own martial journey, of the brilliant principles and concepts taught in this video footage.
SHAOLIN Kunfu is the poem, some people don't understand, some people just feel it is graceful, each one may has his own interpretation of it, but if someone explain it, you will suddenly be enlightened.
Shifu...I have been practicing the arts for a long time. Enjoyed your video. Keep them coming. Sincerely, Sifu Frost; Founder of Ng's Gung Fu of Florida.
This master is very smooth and powerful. Good techniques. The only problem is people dont fight like this on the street. For one, nobody is going to grab your wrists. Kicking to the body only works on someone with zero conditioning. The good ideas here are kicks to the inside or side of the knees as well as strikes to the neck and throat.
