I always love when their is a cute wholesome character like her in an anime full of darkness and pain, like Maria in this one and Momo from March comes in like a lion, it is a good relief to see a cute pure person unaffected by the horrible world we live in
I find it so interesting that they never explore the aunt side of his family, not even in the manga we get to see the aunt face despite the fact that they all get along
I wonder if it implies that Ishida doesn't get along with his sister or something like that, even after the ending we are still not able to see her face
I swear throughout this movie Marie was the constant ray of sunshine that kept me saying "no matterhoe it turns out this ending won't be just dark" but at the same time they could have pulled a fast one on us, o matter hoe good the ending was if anything happened to Maria to create dome drama or tragedy I would have went out of my way to badmouth this movie anywhere
I really enjoyed this story (both as a movie and as a manga) and I found it interesting that it reveals interesting details about Japan like how the Japanese mainly use email over text messaging and SMS to communicate and the fact that there’s a sizable Brazilian community in Japan.
I think this was the most amazing story I have ever watched. All my senses went on overdrive from sadness to anger all the way to happiness. This is a classic. P.S. Maria is a smol angel!
How about the scene when Yuzuru and her mom kept apologizing so Maria said sorry too making everyone laugh? I loved that scene. Was that only in the manga?
Exactly. I first watched the anime (maybe like 7-8 times which was more than I'd rewatchwed any show ever) and it instantly became a masterpiece imo. But when I read the manga I realised that there were so many details that the anime missed out.
