This was the most comprehensive eye shape video I have very seen. I have watched quite a few over the years and would stare into the mirror and still be uncertain.

Almond and I love that I am a good person who cares for others instead of trying to put others down. I don't understand bullies and how you can feel good making someone feel bad. I have endured so much pain growing up and I want to be a voice to younger people that there is a light at the end of tunnel and to trust in God.
My eyes are also between round and almond! I think more towards round. Something I love about myself is my skin I was blessed with skin that only breaks out on occasion and I love my ability to recreate eye looks.
Great video but you can have a combination eye shape. I have upturned almond eyes. I know people with downturned monolid eyes and hooded eyes, slightly upturned round eyes, etc. Also you didn't cover bulging, deep-set, close-set or wide-set eyes. That also makes a huge difference. It's not an exact science!!
I love how you're giving examples of perfect make-up tips according to eye shapes, but I feel for eye shadow, it would be even better and more helpful if you did different eye lids rather than eye shapes. The eye shape video was some what helpful because I believe I found my eye shape but after watching the make-up tutorials I am back to square one, my eye lids are nothing like the models so the make-up definitely doesn't look as nice on me as they would on the models. Just thought I'd share my experience with the videos and make-up. 😊
Hi Carli!! My eyes are a slight mixture between hooded and almond! At least that's what it looks like to me! And something I love about myself is my tattoos!
My eyes are different from all the eyes on here. They are sort of round, but also sort of up turned. They have a larger visible mobile lid with a visible crease and no hood. Let's just say I have a nice amount of space for eyeshadow haha
For people worried that their eye shape fits more than one catergory that is perfectly normal. For years I believed my eyes were almond, as no whites are visible apart from outer and inner corners at all times, however i could never understand why they seemed to slant upwards too much especially when eyelashes are curled back, Google Kendra Powell another makeup artist, she uses a quiz to help you determine your true eye shape and she explains why you definitely can have almond eyes that are positioned upturned. Smashbox have all the types correct and the looks for each shape are absolutely perfect. It is just that determining eye shape like true eye colour is a very complicated process, my eyes are naturally green blue /sea green, like most eyes they change colour due to different external factors, however blue green /green blue eyes appear to change in colour more than most, they flash through all different shades due to makeup, clothing, lighting and food or drink. There is definitely an art to all of this you just need to keep researching , it is just a case of trial and error.
Yayyy! I finally figured out the kind of eye shape that I have! I have...(drumroll please)...upturned eyes (according to the line test)! It's always been hard for me to describe my eye shape and I feel like MUA's in the past have always told me that my eyes are round or almond because those are the most common haha. The angle of my upturn is slight, not as distinguished as the girl in this video but definitely noticeable when I take a closer look! So awesome! Thanks Smashbox!

Omg this is so trippy I got to the last question, do the whites of your eyes frame your irises, and I studied them in the mirror right? My left eye has a small bit of white on the bottom, the right eye is covered by my bottom kid! I'm both almond and round?! 😂😂😂
This is great, so helpful. Will you come out with a way to identify skin tone? I have a hard time picking out foundation or the best red lipstick to wear.

I don't really get the downturned thing I can't really know if they are like that or not, then I'm in between downturned and round which looks pretty much the same for me, lol. Can't decide
There is such thing as "Round Almond" eyes. I see it commonly in Europe. Look at model Gemma Ward or model Miranda Kerr. Some people even have cute appearance with "Round Hooded" eyes like Russian model Natalia Vodianova. She still has round eyes like a doll but hooded. Some people have combination eyes, so I believe you can just have more ways to put on eye makeup. If you are "Round Almond", then you can wear eye makeup styles for both "Round" and "Almond". This video just states the main common base of eyeshapes. Some of us are special. Combination eyes are cool.

Help, I have almond eyes but I also have an Asian style skin going slightly past my inner corner, I'm white British and find it hard to identify my eye shape. My daughter inherited this from me , but not my son. X
I'm so glad that Carlibel55 linked this video to her page! It was very informational. I always thought I was considered hooded eyes but today i learned that I have downturned eyes. Turns out I was applying my makeup the best way for my eye shape after all. :-) Thank you Smashbox for such a great video and for creating such a versatile eyeshadow palette!
Unfortunately my eyes do not fall under any of the categories, as I have eyes with hidden/ inner double eyelids (there are various terms for this in Korean, Chinese, etc.) with a "phoenix" eye shape (it translates a bit weird into English). I believe one blogger put up a list of eyemakeup tips for 14 different types of asian eyes but I can't remember the site (google!)
Mine dont match any of these 😢 i have to apple eye shadow slightly below my crease because it looks so wrong on my crease 😂😂 and its not my makeup skills that do that

I have a combination of three eye shapes: downturned which are heavy hooded, but also almond, I have tried the tips separately but none turn good on me, are there tips on combos?
I have slightly hooded/almond ish eyes. Both my eyes are also slightly different shapes. Two of my favorite looks are cat eye liner, it can look a bit much at first but if you look at pictures from the 60s those girls looked gorgeous with it, it's very eye catching. The other look I like is a light brown smoky eye, with a really smoky under eye, my eyes look big but sexy.
