Parley Bunker if you live in a state where you have a duty to inform, then you inform the officer right away. Also if you live in a state where a CCW or a license to carry a firearm or mandatory in order to have a firearm in a vehicle it shouldn't be a problem.

That's why when you're stopped you hand the your CCW card along with your DL, etc. Saest way to let them know you're carrying.

I agree with Parley. If stopped the best idea is to keep hands visible, inform them you are carrying and then wait for instructions on presenting DL, permit etc. Too much crazy stuff going on and cops don't know you from a bad guy.

Joseph Mayo's comment is absolutely correct about "Duty to inform" states. Something like "I'm a carry permit holder and am armed" better be the first thing out of your mouth when the officer approaches. The following are my thoughts on states that do not have a duty to inform: I teach concealed carry in my state, and I teach my students exactly what Ben Cunningham said. There are two schools of thought when dealing with a traffic stop while armed. The first is to have some prepared statement - "Hello officer, I want you to know I'm a licensed permit holder and I am armed. How do you want to proceed?" That's all well and good, but some folks get really nervous around police, and being armed tends to multiply their anxiety. In those cases, their prepared statement might come out of their mouths sounding more like "I have a gun!" You can see where that might lead to some unpleasant misunderstandings. So instead, I teach my students to do these things: -Don't have your firearm anywhere near your wallet, registration, and proof of insurance -Keep calm and follow the officer's instructions to the "T" -Keep in mind that the officer is in charge of the situation. Period. -Pull off as far to the side of the road as possible, or pull into a lower traffic zone (like a parking lot) -Turn on your interior light if it's dark -Hands glued at 10 and 2 of your steering wheel. If you have to take them off the wheel for any reason, make sure you tell the officer first. For example, "Officer, my documents are in the glovebox. I'm going to get them now." If you keep your registration and proof of insurance in the glovebox, DON'T put your gun in there! Also, "Officer, my license is in my wallet. I'm going to get it now." If you carry your gun somewhere near your wallet, you might want to rethink that while driving. That's why I like this holster! -Have all passengers keep still and have their hands visible. -When the officer asks for your documents, hand him/her your carry permit with your license, registration, and proof of insurance, then CLOSE YOUR MOUTH. Answer the officer's questions and follow directions as needed. Most of the time, he will say something like, "Well if I don't see yours, you won't see mine", and that will be the end of it. Some related thoughts: -It's a good idea to inform even if you live in a state where it isn't required. In a lot of states, your carry permit is linked to your license plate number and registration, so the officer will know that the owner of that car is a permit holder. If you don't say anything, that could raise questions in his mind as to who you are, what you're hiding and why. -Keep in mind, the officer has the right to remove you from your vehicle, perform a basic pat down and put you in cuffs. This is not an accusation of guilt. I have even heard of cases where the officer has asked the person to disarm themselves, but this is NOT recommended. I would rather the officer put cuffs on me and get the gun himself. My only concern with this holster is how easy it would be to muzzle your legs like the guy in the video does at :20, 1:56, and 1:57. I would consider placing the holster just outside my right leg instead of between the legs.

Florida you need a retaining strap or retention mechanism and can’t be visible outside your car.

Durwood Robison check out the highway holster. It's what I've installed in my vehicle and it is by far one of my better investments.

I'll look into that. My primary issue is, if I were a police officer, I would not want to see a gun in easy reach in a vehicle. Add to it how easy it is to get "swatted" by some idiot who is driving aggressively calling police on you for pointing a "weapon" at them if you're holding your phone up to record them, I'd much rather my firearm be on my hip. Yes, it's harder to draw from the car, but as long as I'm in the car and moving, I really shouldn't have need to draw the gun in the first place. Once I'm stationary and unbuckled, drawing is dramatically easier, so should I need to exit the vehicle and start shooting quickly, it's achievable. Just my thoughts on the subject.

We do not recommend leaving your firearm in the vehicle. This holster is designed to hold your firearm when you drive, and then, once you reach your destination, it can be removed from this holster and put into a holster on your person for personal carry.

Hello @Sleyguy, We apologize for any confusion with this. You are correct that the IWB configuration must be disassembled in order to connect the two shells for mounting. However, we have found that it can sometimes be easier to have two separate shells for this exact purpose. This way, you would have one shell already mounted in the vehicle, and therefore no need to take apart your IWB.

@@Aliengearholsters Yeah let's have two holster shells so we can handle our firearm unnecessarily in public to make this system work. That sounds like a great idea!

Hello Michael, Our intention was to offer drivers another way of carrying inside their vehicle without having to drill holes into their dashboard or placing the firearm in the glove box, on the passenger seat while still in the holster. Idiotic in terms of? Getting into trouble with the cops? Maybe. It actually works extremely well for me.

Christian Aryee as in having it between your knees. So not only do you have to move your legs apart to access it you now have possible steering wheel in the way during draw and presentation. This is not a good idea.

I carry in that position, and surprisingly I've never had any obstructions with my knees or the steering wheel being in the way. Because I use the ram mount system, I'm able to angle the holster so I'm forced to draw straight towards my chest. I'm 6'3", and 250lbs, and I drive a Jeep JKUR, but there's a lot of dead space. It may not be the same for other people.

Try drawing from the Right side with a seatbelt on. Try reaching under your steering wheel or from the center divider of your console from under the dash. You have no experience with vehicle carry nor did you obviously watch the video to see how it is adjustable. I have tried just about every vehicle system that would work in my personal vehicle and this design is the most user-friendly. I don't know about most drivers, but I don't drive with my legs together to start with. This holster is positioned in a natural opening between the legs.
