It is highly recommended for a visit as a tourist. I would hasten to add that there are certain undesirable elements (pick pocket etc.) that do roam the streets and especially near the train station and the Vatican area. Poland, Hungary and Croatia are safe enough as the police authorities keep a fairly high visible profile. Misbehaviour in public is not a wise thing to do as excuses really do not cut it, tolerance is a by word. Respect the people, respect their laws and rules, it really is that simple. Ben is correct about the situation in west Europe. It’s really bad in some places. You wouldn’t think you were in a European country where there are big communities of people from Middle East and South Asia. Most of them do not integrate they just live how they would in their country of origin.
My ex-wife is a Mexican, legally born in the USA. When she was in school she said students coming from Mexico not knowing English language learned English faster without bi-lingual classes. They even accepted the culture quicker, while still holding on to theirs as well.

Unfortunately the old style of immigration (where people actually came to America or Europe to work and make a better life for themselves) is now gone. The immigrants coming to both America and Europe now have no intention of working to make a better life for themselves, they're coming because they see the governments will give them handouts, housing, food, education etc and they can sit on their lazy asses all day and do nothing for it! They are a nett drain on the resources of a country rather than a benefit, they don't integrate and live in enclaves amongst their own. They don't learn the language, they don't embrace the culture and they expect the country to change to suit them instead of the other way round. It needs to be stopped.

You cannot make any statement about immigration without first specifying numbers. Controlled migration with a chance of integration is fine. Uncontrolled arrival of vast numbers is a national disaster which governments can’t seem to accept before it is too late.
Look at what’s happening in the UK where mass immigration has taken over almost all of the UK, we have become second class citizen to the immigrants. If America was a small country you would also have noticed it…

Certain groups have a religion that dictates culture. No, immigrants to Europe, like Europeans moving to other countries i might add, migrate to a country and setup a small community that refelcts the culture they came from. Youd only have to look at southern spain to see a community of brits who have moved over and changed a place to their culture and preferences. It is also a massive problem financially for any country that does as BS says provide aid to those coming in legally or illegally when there is little or no incentive to work because straight away they are much better off than they were in their own countries - this is a massive issue in the UK to - with the strain on the economy through the overloading of demand on the welfare system - so it doesn't take a genius to work out that to make it simple if you have twenty people working and paying taxes of say 1200 dollars or pounds whatever per week and another twelve people getting 'benefit'/aid whatever you call it of 150 dollars/pounds per week that is a shortfall of 300 so who is making up that difference????? where is it coming from?? Ultimately western countries that offer aid/benefits etc to immigrants who then go on to have children but still do not contribute to the country and stay on some kind of benefit the coutnry will go bankrupt then what of the people who have paid into the system and worked all their lives etc to get say a pension from that government they will then be left with nothing so when these leeches have sucked the western countries of all they have what then???why do you think they come to the US and the UK because they are the places the can live off of other peoples hard work and do absolutely nothing to contribute except cause chaos, disruption, with not a thought to assimilation just take and/or something worse and much more sinister
Big Government does NOT create a disincentive to assimilate, Mass Migration does as they stream over in bulk and settle near each other so they see no reason to change. I have met people who have been in Australia for 40+ years and they still can't speak English beyond a rudimentary fashion as they never had to learn more. Their old world village basically moved over here and kept going, business as usual with all their centuries hatreds of other peoples. They are unchanged from the values of their original home since the 1960's and still think that is how things are still done. And they raise their children and grandchildren to consider themself..whatever and not Australian. Small government wont correct this, only careful immigration and a willingness for immigrants to adapt, not demand others obey the laws/customs of a country they left.
