MJ wouldn’t have started a season out of shape. I always felt Shaq and Kobe would have more titles if he was as serious about winning like MJ and Kobe. If he was, Kobe and he would have had a more harmonious relationship.

Well, not all are driven to the nth degree like MJ or Kobe, otherwise it would be so common. Shaq in his day was THE most dominant center and even when out of shape there was really no one that could push him away from the paint....and he's still a hall of fame player and tons of people love him for his personality. Not sure you can say that about MJ or Kobe.....

That was a young ascending Shaq. Magic & Larry could have said the same about MJ in his 4th or 5th year. A few years later Shaq had a 3 peat of his own. Its a great game & the narratives are fluid.

Shaq mentions at the end of the interview that the fans make him obligated to play at a higher level. However, this is what rubbed Kobe the wrong way - How Shaq would show up early in the season over weight and out of shape, essentially using parts of the season to get where he needs to be. Kobe wasn't having that and it was one of the fractures in their playing relationship.

Shaq was still that dude & the #1 Laker Player during their 3Peat tho. That's why Shaq was the 00 NBA MVP, 00 Scoring Champ, 3x NBA Finals MVP. Kobe was a huge help tho but Kobe elevated few Years later after Shaq left. Kobe & Lakers didnt even make the 05 playoffs after Shaq left 04-05 Season

@@2KILLAVILLE - Not making the playoffs without Shaq should be no surprise. Instead of having a dominant 7-2, 350lb+ center, the Lakers had a rotation of Brian Grant, Chris Mihm, Brian Cook and Vlade at the 5-position. Quite a step down.

Yeah and with all that said Shaq did under achieve. He couldn’t been the greatest but he was lazy. Kobe was right about him. It’s like working a 9-5 and some of you’re co workers are coming in hungover all the time. So you’re stuck picking up the slack.

@@roysreceptive Bulls would easily beat Lakers because the other coach they had would not have signed crucial players who helped them three peat. Phil Jackson would have led the Bulls to at least 2 more finals as we saw how weak the league was around 1999 and 2000. No wonder spurs won with an eight seed reaching the finals and the pacers were getting old.

When rating all-time greatest players, you also have to break it down into under / over 7 ' tall. Jordan / Kobe / James / Bird / Magic / Dr. J - under 7' only Add Jabbar #2 - Russell #7 - Olajuwon #9 - Duncan #10, if counting 7 'ers.

Shaq was wrong that no one had 6 titles without losing. His teammate Horry won 7 and never lost. Also Eisen mentions Beuchler who was a 2 guard guarding Shaq. Beuchler was actually pretty good but backed up Richmond, Jordan, Stackhouse, McGrady and Petrovic in his career so never played much.

At end of the day I believe Jordan is the GOAT but if someone said "no Lebron is the GOAT" or "no Kobe the GOAT" that's fine, listen there is no bad answer here, they are all-time greats and I wish we would appreciate them more instead of diminishing 1 of them to make the other look better!!

Kobe is number 2. Look at what he did in the west 5 championships a 3 peat. Won with Shaq and won with Gasol. Waits for lebron in the finals and lebron gets beat by Dwight Howard magic in a weak East lol. If Kobe would of had 3 superstars playing with him idk how many more championships he would of won. The Orlando Magic were loaded with a prime Shaq and Penny and stillll got swept and it wasnt even close. No doubt those Bulls teams would beat the later Laker teams.
