Bass Magazine presents Sharay Reed performing Bach's "Invention #1 in C Major, BWV 772" in two bass parts to coincide with Sharay's upcoming new book and album "Bach n' Bass: 2 Part Inventions."
In this video Sharay is playing the Gallien-Krueger Fusion 210 Combo, the Gallien-Krueger Legacy 210 Combo, and his Fodera Emperor Standard Classic Bass.
Sharay has performed in the bands of Patti LaBelle, Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, R. Kelly, CeCe Winans, Boys II Men, Ramsey Lewis, Aretha Franklin, and Chaka Khan to name a few.

Sharay, you’re playing here is one of the reasons why you are one of my all time favorite bassists. I’ve been playing bass for 25 years and there are very few bassists who I enjoy watching play as much as I dig watching you and listening to your music. Watching and listening to you play makes me want to be a much better bassist than I am and I have a long way to go!! 😁

Bach’s cello suites are written in bass clef, at least, there’s a modern version that is. Some pieces go down to low C’s & D’s that are not in the register of a 4 string but you’ll cope. It may take a week to master 1 movement, but it’s the best work you’ll ever do!

Very well done. I'm learning his Brandenburg Concerto 3, I am just playing the 1st cello part. In a way I think Bach is the creator of bass as we know it.

I played Bach prelude in C Major in college. I was using my thumb all over the place so I could sustain the notes as long as possible.

I'm a pianist. I can play BOTH PARTS simultaneously. I learned this when I was a wee lad...not impressed with this dude. BTW...he fucked up a passage by not playing in the proper register.
