For anyone who gets the following error - "ERROR Main: Cannot start client: Command adb ["shell", "dumpsys", "package", "com.genymobile.gnirehtet"] returned with value -1073740940" You need to download a precious version of the "Platform Tools" (V28.0.1). You can download them here - dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools_r28.0.1-windows.zip Read here for more information - github.com/Genymobile/gnirehtet/issues/197 Many thanks to both video up-loader and developer. I really appreciate it as it was just what I wanted. :)
when i write " gnirehtet install" it gives me the following error message. ( 'gnirehtet' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.) plzzz someone guide me
2:44 If no message is showing in your phone it doesn´t matter, just continue with the tutorial, because here 3:17 , it will show the message to connect to internet and it will work :) hope it helped you.
Bro, you made this 3 years ago I'm on a Galaxy S20 running Android 11. On my 4G network, I was getting: Ping= 32ms Down= 7.5 Mbps Up= 6.1 Mbps With this app I get the exact same as my PC: Ping= 3ms Down= 40.9 Mbps Up= 6.4 Mbps This is method works flawlessly after 3 years, absolutely amazing.
My wifi stopped working suddenly on my xcompact and i needed some kind of this to do a cloud back up of the phone so i could reset it. This helped me so much. Simple and effective. Thank you!!
Dear sir, at the very last, there was no "connections request pop-up" on my mobile device (asus zenpad 3s10 tablet) why ? how can it be resolved ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards.
when i write " gnirehtet install" it gives me the following error message. ( 'gnirehtet' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.) plzzz someone guide me
Note : For some users you got to allow Install Via USB in Developer options. Edit : Also There will be a chance of Failing at the end. Claiming adb is not on or smthng, You can Easily Fix that by Turning on USB Debugging (Security settings) Also Thanks for the tutorial Bro! this helps me alot
Worked flawlessly, and easy to understand. Thank you. Although I did get confused and had input the command wrong (that name gives me nightmares as a dyslexic person) but all was well after re-reading it a couple hundred times.
See this crazy thing, speed test app is not opening just buffering (but working in browser), play store is just not downloading apps but when i connect to wifi simultaneously everything becomes fine and speed test shows around 80mbps. (my wifi signal is weak in my room whenever i did speed test i used to get around 35mbps on mobile, and my laptop gets 80mbps generally). Its not a big problem by the way as i finally profited by around 40mbps on my mobile in my room. Every thing else is good so far, thanks!!
you are the legend. I spent almost a day to find a way for it. you save me a lot of data Gigabytes. As my WiFi and Bluetooth on my Galaxy S7 doesn't turn on any more "suspect to IC damage" after multiple factory reset and Firmware upgrade/downgrade. I had to upgrade all my apps and some like Facebook a& IG don't allow login without latest update :| - Only Additional language on "Input Language" setting did not download the keyboard I need through USB tether, which I chose to go with Google Keyboard - Google Map doesn't let me download off line map and require Wifi access.. which I don't have :| - Skype also did not recognize USB Thether as valid internet connection Many Many Thanks...
Another person, who also joined on saying, just simply amazing. Worked on first try with instructions via the video (with my own first personal smartphone), i tried these instructions online via a webdoc, which unfortunately didn't work after several tries. Simply amazing, thank you for this wonderfull video, possible I wouldn't have solved it otherwise :P
Works easy... 1 thing: on the phone, when you connect the USB-cable, you have to select the option only loading, otherwise it won't work on every phone.
Thanks that works like a charm one thing to mention if you have multi devices connected it will show you error run this command instead and it will share the internet with all connected devices: gnirehtet autorun
If you get the error "adb vendor keys not set" try to disable and re-enable USB debugging on your phone under developer settings. Won't allow me to download android update as the phone isn't sure it's connected to the internet but otherwise works well.
maybe your phone's driver isn't installed, google for your specific phone driver and install. If your phone is Samsung here's a link to the driver samsung-usb-driver-for-mobile-phones.en.softonic.com/
If you get any error message with the word "adb" in it, try copying the newest adb version to the gnirehtet folder. It looks like this programm can't work new android versions because of the outdated adb inside it, so giving it the newest one fixes any problems caused by the outdated adb.
Thank you for the effort you did but I'm having a problem in the command, whenever I write C:\Users\space>cd Desktop/gnirehtet It says "The system cannot find the path specified. "
If any of you find that it says it's not an internal or external command, you've probably extracted the master version, which doesn't seem to have the exe, so make sure you extract the windows version (if ur on windows of course). Just realised this like 30 secs ago
For me when i ran 'gnirehtet run' it didnt show any prompt on my mobile. So i went to developer options and enabled 'USB Debugging (Security Settings)' also. Then i was able to use internet. Thanks for the amazing solution by the way.
Manny Huge Thanks to you man! I lost this capability with my old phone HTC that supported this feature out of the box and have been searching for ways to do it without unrooting my current device. Thanks for sharing this Fantastic Piece of code. I've just tried it on my Huawei mate 8 and it works smoothly!!
Does not work for me it shows this C:\Users\user\Desktop\gnirehtet>gnirehtet install 2021-03-25 18:07:28.814 INFO Main: Installing gnirehtet client... Performing Push Install adb: error: failed to get feature set: device offline 2021-03-25 18:07:28.991 ERROR Main: Execution error: Command adb ["install", "-r", "gnirehtet.apk"] returned with value -1
All you have to do is connect your phone to usb, open the /gnirehtet directory in cmd and type /gnirehtet rt Then press ok on the promt on your phone. That's it.
I hate how android doesn't seem to care about connection options anymore. You also used to be able to stream audio from your phone with a click of a button. Some people really care about what they can actually do with their phones. To think someone actually thought it was worth the effort to remove basic functionality of every new Android, it makes me absolutely furious. Now I know most people would not consider "reverse tethering" to be "basic functionality", however seeing as this used to be baked right in, and it is the only way to connect to the internet without using the relatively super insecure, and often slow and unreliable Wi-Fi, the removal of this feature is, in my mind, as infuriating as taking away the headphone jack. I typed this directly after coming to this realization, and in an hour I'll be chill, but right now I want to break something. Oh, and this video is awesome, so glad there is still a solution to this problem.👍Sorry for the angry rant.🤣
Intent { act=com.genymobile.gnirehtet.START cmp=com.genymobile.gnirehtet/.GnirehtetControlReceiver } Broadcast completed: result=0 when i try to run i get this why?
Hey, really want to get that stuff working... But theres that error at the last command: Cannot start client: Command adb ["shell", "dumpsys", "package", "com.genymobile.gnirehtet"] returned with value -1073740940
it is possible to do this getting the internet connection from a modem/router (maybe, with an USB out) rather than a PC and sending it to the smartphone with an usb cable which starts from the router usb and goes to the one on the smartphone?
while installing its saying not compatible ur operating system and recommends to ask the publisher that wather the given system is 62 bit or 34 bit Guide me Please
when i write " gnirehtet install" it gives me the following error message. ( 'gnirehtet' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.) plzzz someone guide me
You must not be in the right folder. Did you EXTRACT both program folders to a new folder or did you manually select and ,move the files like this guy did in the video? Try cd Desktop\[folder name]\gnirehtet-rust-win64-v2.3.zip then install. Or just select and move the files in the first place.
thank about the tutorial but my cmd says like this.....is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. thank you about the help
Yo I have a question. If I accidentally unplug my phone cable I can't get gnirehtet working. I have to restart my phone to properly connect to the internet. Does anyone else have that problem or does someone know a fix?
I manages to make a file that opens and runs gnirehtet create new txt file and paste this; cd [full path to the gnirehtet folder created in the video] gnirehtet run next save as .cmd file now you can start the program just by double clicking that file
FOUND IT! Its because there was an app (Lux lite) blocking it, masking on top of the dialog. I uninstalled it and I was able to click ok. Apaprently Lux Brightness, Night Mode, and Twilight cause the same problem.
Many thanks for this useful tutorial. Do you please have any hints how to allow devices connected to Android over wifi hotspot to also get to Internet over this connection? When I try that, the device connects to hotspot, but does not see the outer world.
I got the same problem at first. I fixed it by trying an older version of the "Platform Tools" (V28.0.1). Now it works great. You can download them here - dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools_r28.0.1-windows.zip Read here for more information - github.com/Genymobile/gnirehtet/issues/197
I can't install gnirehtet on my PC, please help! I have Windows XP Professional Version 2002, SP3, 32bit.. When I try to install it it says ''not valid Win32 application''???
Not working for me with a Nexus 6P. All setup was OK (I had already ABD setup because I use Android Studio) and gnirehtet seems to be running normally on command prompt and phone (there's a notification icon running), but there's no internet in my phone
excellent video thanks very much. tried many other procedures and your is the only one that worked. Samsung Galaxy Tab A .... am now subscribing to your vids.
