I particularly like the squares using your Mother's clothes. Wish I had thought to do that. Loved the entire "show and tell", Jeri - beautiful creations.
Hi Ann and thank you for being here. There's so many different ways to preserve the memories of our loved ones. Perhaps something else will inspire you. sending hugs, 🩵
Hi, Jeri. I’ve been wanting to send you a message since I saw the video about your studio. In the background was a picture of your mother. I have that picture on my iPad, and I jumped when I saw it. Your mother had quite an influence on me several years ago. I think her niece had posted a picture of your mom making hats for homeless people. That was something I did at that time. I took the pattern the niece provided and made something like 64 hats for handing out at Thanksgiving here on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. I hope it doesn’t sound like bragging, because I loved every minute of it, and always credited your mother and the niece with having an effect even among homeless people here in Miss. Your mom’s values traveled far and wide. 😊. You must be very proud of her. I used to watch your videos several years ago, and am glad to see them back.
Oh Carolyn, That is wonderful and mom would have been so tickled to know that other people around the country were making her hats! I know there are many others, I've heard stories over the years and it certainly does bless me to hear about it. Thank you so much for sharing that! Thank you for being here! Sending hugs, 🩵
HI Jeri! You should post whatever gives you joy to share - I have great fun watching you talk through your projects and how they started, no matter what they are. The way you’re treasuring your mother and your memories of her through your quilt blocks is moving and beautiful. Mixing your fabrics with her clothing is brilliant! My mother died in 1976 when I was 18 and I’ve always been sorry I don’t have any of her clothing. Stay well and happy!
Oh I'm so sorry, that was very young to lose a mom. Do yo have photos? Perhaps you could make a journal and fill it with memories and photos of your mom? Thanks for being here! 🩵
You make such interesting and beautiful projects that I love seeing. I didn’t notice your reflection on your glasses until you pointed it out. We aren’t perfect here. I am so glad you are here making videos.,
LOL... When I go back and edit the videos I notice a LOT... LOL It makes sense really because sometimes you have to replay the same clip 10 times! I should probably just let it all go, it would go a lot faster but then you poor guys would have to sit through a lot of STUFF! I'm going to do a blooper video one of these days and show you! 🩵 Thank you SO much, I appreciate your comment!
Oh Jeri, love all of your projects but the blocks you have made of your Moms clothes are over the top. Just beautiful, Thank you for sharing. PS don't worry about your glasses (glare) I did not even notice.
So love your mom’s quilt squares - eclectic but totally connected- a treasured tribute and amazing use of her tshirts. That you mixed your fabrics and hers is a picture of the blending of your lives. My mom passed in 2017 - she wore brunch coats so I cut then up. I haven’t done anything with them. I have my grandmas clothes that I cut into apple cores, thinking about using the herringbone stitch to put them together as shdvee we are polyester. I wish I had seen your videos before I cut the, but you’ve given me inspiration. Also, I wanted to say that - dust is just additional texture 😐.
i love how you are using your mom's t shirts in your block pieces! the combination of your neutrals and your mom's colorful shirts is lovely. thanks for sharing them and your other work with us. linda from california
Really??? That is SO interesting! According to YT 20 minute vids are the ones people watch the most. I have to look at my analytics and see how long everyone is watching. I know I watch every single second of my favorite RU-vidrs and sigh when they are over! 🩵
I’m so happy that I stumbled upon your channel. I enjoyed seeing your slow stitching and am enticed to try it myself. I live in the Lehigh Valley and realized that I visited and took a few classes at your bead shop many years ago. Small world. Thank you for sharing.
Oh my gosh! I moved from Coopersburg, now living in Bechtelsville... it is a small world and you took a class from my shop!!! How cool is that! 🩵 Glad you are here Janet!
I LOVED this video. I’m not a stitcher now… I used to be… but it was just so nice to hang with you and see what you have been up to. You are very relaxing and I can feel that you have awesome energy. I’m looking forward to all future videos. Hugs Kathie from Mexico. 🐢
@@JeriBellini I mainly work with glass. Right now during the day, I am working on a mosaic for the outside of my house. At night, I have been knitting a touque (Canadian for hat) for my friend in Canada. I love the stitching project you are working on to remember your mom. I wish I could do everything but it all takes time. See you soon in your next video! Hugs 🐢
@@kathiekarancz964 I was huge mosaic'er in my last life! I still have all my supplies so don't be surprised if that shows up here too! And isn't that just a shame that things take time, I want to do it all in one day! Just kidding.... enjoy the process. Have a great day! 🩵
What a beautiful tribute to your mother. The pieces will bring back memories for years to come. I really like the book cover. Perhaps you could begin by showing us how to make each block. One last thing, if you haven't seen (or own) Sue Spargo's book, it is a must. The stitching is beautiful and so creative. Loving your channel.
Hi, today l started to embroidery a needlecase. Due to a knee problem l’ve had to rest for a couple of days so this project is a godsend . Thank you for your inspiration xxx
I see a lot of me in you, meaning your multiple projects, interest in honoring a person through making somethings of theirs, also your improvised teaching. Because you are teaching in a novel manner. (In the interest of transparency, I am a retired educator in higher education. So observing your intuitive teaching is a pleasure.
Oh that is so interesting.... I have been a teacher since I was 8 years old at day camp, trying to show others how to make a lanyard! LOL And then of course when I had my bead shop and all the years in between, Girl Scouts, School projects, adult education and on and on. I try to hit on all the senses to get people to learn. A little harder to do on YT than in person. But you just can't stop me! Thanks for leaving a comment and for being here! 🩵
After the video I found another big pile of them! I'll share them another time. I admit, I love stitching on my mom's clothes, I can still feel her energy in them. Thanks for watching! 🩵
This is wonderful. All your projects are so beautiful! This was a wonderful idea! I especially enjoyed your tribute to your mom. Mine has been gone twenty years, and I did what you did. I made lots of gifts for family using up some of her amazing stuff! TFS. 🥰🙏
Oh I love what you did with your mom's clothes. My son passed away March 2023. His son his to big for his clothes. I will be making some blocks❤. Oh I remember the rust you did I really enjoyed that. It would be awesome if you shared how to do a journal book. Your things are so beautiful 😍❤️
i loved everything you showed Jeri - and again i found this video enjoyable and inspiring - especially to see Mom's Quilt Squares - thank you and be well xx
I loved this video and every thing you shared. The Mom quilt is amazing. It would be great if you shared how to make the red wedding pillow and I’d especially like to see how to make the patchwork book cover. I would make one of those right away. So happy to have recently found you. I could easily watch you for an hour. 😃🌺🪻🥰❤️🪡🧵🌻
That is GREAT to know! I'm going to prepare a survey soon to get to know my people a bit better, thank you so much for your input! 🩵 I'm working on the patchwork video now.
Thank you Jeri for showing us all your amazing slow stitch works of heART! All those hours of slow stitch into so many memories. Love seeing your mom’s art also incorporated into your quilt pieces. I am amazed at how many hours you have put into it all! Loving the small slow stitch pieces, and that you have put them together to make that cover piece! I really want to make one of those. Finding the time to slow stitch is my dilemma. I must work out some plan to do it. I know there are minutes here and there waiting in the car for my grandsons 2 hour class to end, lol hummm. Thanks for the inspirations! Big hug, 💕💕💕vicki
Absolutely find the time, you won't be sorry and I am NEVER without a project. It drives me crazy to be idle and wait in the car????? without something to do?! I'd sooner..... 🤣 Seriously, I'm going to make a video on those small pieces in the next few weeks, gathering supplies now and just listed some fun scrap rolls of fabric in my shop just for this! (description box for the link) I vacillate between bright pops of color and the organic look. Sending hugs 🩵
Hi, I love all of your work. The circle one is one of my favorites. I cannot believe that you follow and know the same folks I do.. keep stitching. Hugs and blessings ❤
Really enjoyed your show and tell ❤ loving the blocks with the applique with your mum's t-shirts ~ they are so beautiful and very inspiring ❤ I love how you used your patches and did all the lovely slow stitching ~ each block is a work of art ❤❤❤ I was pleased to hear you mention K3n isn't she delightful and so generous with her tutorials. I'm joining her in making my first stitch journal and loving it ❤ Your wool circle blocks are stunning ~ you are truly inspiring ❤❤ and btw I have several UFOs and WIPs and I don't care lol!!! Do whatever brings you joy that's all that truly matters ~ sewing heals the soul 😃🥰❤
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! YAY for Joy! I'm going to get back to mom's quilts now that I pulled them out. Look forward to seeing more of them. The plan is to make enough to wrap myself up in the quilt! Hugs for a great weekend! 🩵
This is my first time seeing one of your videos. I've always dabbled in sewing but raising my kids I never had time to actually do any projects. I made curtains for my baby's nursery one time. Lines to make a place to put the curtain rod and sewed the edges. I tinkered around with cutting fabric into squares and sewing them together. But I am a perfectionist so I aggravate myself trying to not be perfect about everything. Not in the sense that everything has to be perfect but as I'm doing it if I'm not doing it right I keep fidgeting till I think it's right and I frustrate myself. Not really meaning to make this a long comment. But I'm really in a frustrated lonely place. I'm watching videos like this really help me. I don't really doubt have real friends. My boss is 85 and he's my best friend. I lost my husband July 13th, 2022. It was only 53. He died from medical neglect. And I'm having a really hard time. I walked away from my house. I couldn't go back as I saw him die there. My two grandbabies saw it happen as well. It feels like yesterday... I'm so depressed. So much time has passed (599 days) and I haven't accomplished much. With the help of my boss, I found a house and currently trying to move in. The only goal I had~trying to use his clothes....every piece I could..to make small lap size memory "blanket" cloths for myself and the family. Finding your video gives me such comfort. I wanted to use the seams and belt loops, snaps and etcs. Never saw anyone doing what you show here. I love the wedding memories too. This feels so so personal and legacy the way you honor your relationship with your mother. That's what I want! He was a biker so I was trying to make a theme that would honor him. If you have any ideas of what to do the colors/materials would be: shirts~ black, orange, grey's,red, denim. Jeans~black, blues. Leather from his chaps/vests and jackets. Maybe putting some chains in there like what he had on his wallets and buttons from jeans and shirts. Also any links to sewing the leathers. Thank you much 🥹
Oh Tabitha, I am so so sorry, how horrible that must have been for you and your grandkids. The stuff life throws at us.... please stick around, even if just for the company. But I do plan on inspiring you to use his things and you can create something really meaningful. Let me ponder on it a bit and if you can show me a pic of some of the things that would help too. Sending you lots of love and big hugs, 🩵
The blocks your are making using your mother's tee shirts and your fabrics are such a beautiful way to remember her. Those patches you made into a book cover looks like a fun project as does the needle book. Kathryn Chambers videos are like visiting with a friend, as are yours, there is always a balance of knowledge and humor.
Thanks so much for sharing your mom’s TShirt blocks. I recently lost my little sister. Was given some of her clothes. A lot I donated bc they didn’t fit and felt overwhelmed but saved a few. Love this idea and especially how to use T-shirts other than the usual tshirt block. Also I’m feeling better about my style choice…it’s denim and tshirts too! ❤
So glad I stumbled across your videos. I so enjoy seeing and hearing you. I love wool and will do my dots a day in wool. Thanks for sharing and inspiring me. Love to share and excited to SEE YOUR projects. Love ya tons.
It doesn't surprise me you know Teesha. Your videos are my new favorite. I might have already told you. I also like long videos..so talk as long as you want.
Well thank you so much for saying that. Seems most everyone mentioned mom's quilt and I did want some feedback! LOL I've already made a few videos, trying to get myself a bit caught up and I hope you will enjoy them. 🩵
Thanks for saying that Linda, about the videos being long. I love them too and watch them in increments but I always feel that everyone wants me to get to the point. I'm starting to relax about that... have a great day! 🩵
It was very inspiring to see all those projects of yours! 💝🌷 I'm currently making a needle book for my mom and another for myself. 🪡🧵 After that, I'm thinking about making a fabric junk journal. 📚 Good luck with your kitchen! 💚🍀
ive enjoyed this video thank you love seeing your projects and i am still waiting to see how you did the dot to dot i just love the black and white and am looking forward to doing something simalar have a wonderful weekend
I had to chuckle because I watched a lot of the same videos that you have. Covid brought a whole different level of learning to videos. Kindred spirits.
Sue Spargo has an amazing embroidery book of stitches called Creative Stitching. New to your channel and am loving it Jeri. I’ve really enjoyed seeing your creative projects. Thanks for sharing. Marti (Carson City, NV)
Hi Jeri, you popped up on my feed, and so glad you did! It's like we're kindred spirits :) I too love jude hill, teesha moore, ariane zucher, and Sue Spargo. I'm fortunate enough to have some of jude's and teesha's wonderful art! I've followed both of them for probably over a decade, they're so inspiring, as are you. I recently discovered k3n and love her long videos. I envision hundreds of stitchers all around the world stitching during her videos. As they say, "like minded people just find each other. So, now I'm a subscriber of yours here and your newsletter. I haven't found the FB group yet, but will happily join that as well because we can never have too much positive energy to spread around. Thank you for your smiles and inspiration... :))
I loved your mums quilt! I dont have clothes from my mum but i can use her memories in the same way and stitch them... Is that a picture of your mum and her twin behind you? Please can you show that to us sometime? Loved this video, thanks Jeri 💕🤗
Hi Jeri.... IT IS SO WONDERFUL TO HAVE YOU BACK!!! I adore all your memory pieces ; what a wonderful way to cherish your Mom's clothing and such. I adore the circles and the stitched squares are a mazing.
Thank you SO much Becky! I am so happy being back!!! I'm planning on doing a project with those colorful patches, I'm already getting it all ready for us! 🩵
I enjoyed you sharing your projects! I have T Shirts I just can't part with despite being worn to death and paint spattered throughout...but I love their colors! You have given me some ideas on what may become of them! Thank you!
Hi, Jeri! I’m a new subscriber, I commented on your last video, but I decided to watch some previous ones and found this particular one that I really liked, specially because of the quilt you’re making with your mother’s clothes. My mother passed away two years ago, she was in a nursing home since 2018, because she had a severe psychiatric disorder that I didn’t have the skills to deal with (there’s no more family, she was divorced from my father), and for a series of unfortunate reasons I didn’t keep any of her clothes. I only have her bedsheets, which are white. I would love to do something with them, but I don’t know what, because I have no means of fancy dyeing or painting them. Anyway, it was so nice to see how much you treasure your mother’s things. By the way, don’t worry about the light on your glasses, it’s so imperceptible 💙💛♥️🩷🤎💚🩵❤️🤍💜🧡
I'm so happy to see you again Alexandra! What part of the world do you live in? You can do lots with sheets! It can be the background for embroidery, applique, stitching and only limited by your imagination! I hope to see you again! 💛
My mum passed suddenly nearly three years ago. I've always regretted not keeping her clothes and doing something similar to what you've done, but I wasn't thinking clearly at the time. I do have approximately 60 of her handmade hankies with crochet trim done by her. I'm thinking I could back them and slow stitch them to add interest. I could even eco dye them.
I am very sorry for your loss.... And of course YES! Why not take a few and do just that! You could use it for a cover on a journal, or fill a book with them, Or make a heart shape pillow or or or... better than keeping them tucked away in a box! I forgot to show you guys the pillow I made with the elastic bands and random pieces of mom's clothes, next time I'll pop it into a video! 🩵
Such a lovely video Jeri, nothing boring here at all. The blocks from your mothers tee shirts are absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing all your projects with us x
Thank you so much what a wonderful way to remember our loved ones …. I need to sort through my husband’s things, it’s long overdue. I now have a place to start with his stuff and my mum and dad’s they all died within 6 years of each other 💔 I’m rediscovering my love of fabrics and it’s lighting up my life again …. Thank you 💖
Jeri, I just love watching your videos! Your work I beautiful and it inspires me in my own slow stitching journey. Please keep posting and I look forward to the instructional/process videos you are thinking about making. I just turned 60 and I have retired, however I am continuing to work a couple more years. I can't wait until I have more time to invest in my love of quilting and slow stitching!!
I could have watched your video with all your precious items, especially the ones in tribute to your mom. My mom passed away 10 years ago and my sisters disposed of all her clothing, except for one dress she wore to a party in the 50's which I preserved and kept made of taffeta and tulle. Thank you for sharing your projects.
Thank you! My mom's shirts aren't your typical tee shirts, they don't have any graphics on the front so I had to be creative about it. If you're on Instagram, follow me... I'm going to start posting a lot of stuff I've made including many other of moms blocks. 🩵
Lovely to see all your projects, especially the piece you are making with your Mum's clothes. Many hugs and thanks for the shout out and tolerating my looong videos 😂❤
I could totally go off on one and list everything I enjoy about you but that would just take far too long. Just keep doing what you're doing. I love it all except when you say sorry. You don't have to do that, trust me. Xx
Ahh Carolyn, you know I think that sorry thing is just a habit. I do catch myself sometimes saying it when it's really someone else's place to say it if you get what I mean... LOLOLOL Thanks so much for watching! 🩵
Kathryn, I have been spelling your name wrong! I'm so sorry and I LOVE your videos so much so don't change a thing about them! I'm always so disappointed when I come to the end of one and there's not another posted! LOL I'm working on my videos in one way or another all the time!! It really touches my heart to read the comments and see how many people we are inspiring! You Do You! I love that! 🩵
P. S. I got married in February 13th. VD fell on a Monday that year. It sometimes falls on Friday the thirteenth. LOL. Needless to say crazy about your pillows. This was our 47th year. We dated for three! ❤️💚💜🥰
