Thanks for the video. Lee and I have labored over the years to make this guard as perfect as possible. It still is not perfect but our customers have helped us tremendously over the years to develop the guard to what it is now. I wish we had a warehouse full of saws to design splitters and riving knives for. All the R&D has been done with measurements from customers. We surely appreciate the video.

I had to make some 45 degree cuts this weekend and i had to remove the splitter. Can the small splitter stay in when making angled cuts?

Thinking of getting one. I’d like to see what you do with the hose when you remove the guard.

Right now I just lay it on the right side of the fence. I can remove the hose from the blast gate if needed. The 4" flex hose has a 4" dust collection union on the end that does into the blast gate and its just a friction fit.

I enjoyed your video. Very informative. I have the same Jet table saw in 110 and didn’t know that such a product was available. I want to ask a favor/assistance... (1) blade alignment... the owners manual is not very helpful regarding blade alignment. (2) Advice on a Shark Guard and accessories for my Jet table saw. I thought about selling it in order to buy a SawStop, but with a few updates it’s worth looking at keeping my Jet. Again, great video and I am hopeful that you can help me in the near future. Many thanks, Kevin

I love my Jet. I haven't had to align the blade as its set to 90 currently. The shark guard works well and helps collect most of the dust. If you have any other questions let me know.

I bought one of these. For the price I'm fairly disappointed in it. The biggest problem is that the whole thing detached from the splitter while cutting a large sheet of plywood (huge safety hazard because the blade could have launched it at me). The splitter (the flat metal part it attaches to) is not a hardened metal and bends pretty easily, which means it can be out of alignment with the blade making it a safety issue. The screws that hold it together are way too large and get in the way of the fence on my miter gauge meaning that I have to raise the blade up much more than I should need to even when cutting thin pieces of wood. The way the Anti-Kickback pawls are attached, they come loose whenever you take the blade guard off. The springs are also easy to bend and one time while putting the blade guard back on one of the springs was partially out of the hole and bent, now it always wants to fall out and makes things pretty fiddly getting it back on. The main reason I bought it was to collect all the dust that gets thrown around and to be honest it's not that great at that. It's just not designed to do a good dust collection job unless you have an extremely powerful dust collector. Mine is rated at 600 cfm and I'm still cleaning up about half the dust compared to not using it. Which means it doesn't really do much to save me cleanup time and it doesn't do much to keep dust out of the air. Would I buy it again? I'm really not sure. It's better than nothing, but it's got a lot of flaws. I would probably see if I could get a sawstop blade guard to fit. It is just a much better design and takes up much less room.

Thanks for the comment. I do agree the splitter can come out of alignment and the pawls do come down sometimes. I have a PM1300 dust collector and I would say about 90% of the dust gets collected. I have never had it come off during use or had an issue cutting thin pieces of plywood.

Thank you for your reply. I have a Jet 1 3/4 HP cabinet saw JECS-10A-LFR and from your video it sounds as if you have the same/similar splitter/blade guard. Not only is the stock splitter/blade guard less than desirable... my is partially inoperable. And, I also do not like the bar that sticks from the back of the saw as well. Saying that, I am seeking information about the Shark Guard product and how it functions on Jet table saws. Any assistance that you may render is greatly appreciated! Cheers
