It recharges at 50% only on the first mapping. You just had to hit clean and it would've resumed. He definitely had "Charge and resume" enabled which is why. The vacuum doesn't know it can do the house on one charge, you could be in a warehouse for all it knows and it doesn't want to get stranded. The vacuum also empties every 30 minutes. If any of the information that came in the box or any of the information in the app was read everything would've been explained to you. This review was biased heavily. Also your map will constantly be updated as it runs, which is also said in the material that comes with it.
I have this exact unit, and it's WAY quieter than a regular vacuum. Blows me away when people complain that this is somehow loud. By what measure? Compared to a quiet room? Yeah. I guess then it would be considered loud. Compared to any regular vacuum, it's exceptionally quiet. You can stand right over it and have a conversation with anyone without raising your voice in the slightest. We purchased this two months ago, in July 2021, and in our opinion it's far superior to other robo vacs. BTW, it does take a few times before it learns the layout of your home. We LOVE how it vacuums in an overlapping grid, making perfect lines, like when you mow the lawn. Other robo vacs just do this random jig zag all over the carpet until they've covered every inch. This one does it in a fraction of the time because it does perfect rows. Again, this thing is far better than any other we've tried. FYI, this is WITHOUT us using the phone app. Each time it had to go empty and recharge it would come right back to where it left off. It NEVER starts all over again. We've never had ours go out only half charged. It always charges all the way, and then finishes it's job. We have a 2800 sq foot home, half carpet and half tile. We have two small dogs which both shed. The amount of hair this thing picks up is amazing. Dog hair we didn't even know was on the floor. While this doesn't pick up quite as well as our Dyson, the fact that we can run it once every day or every other day, means we don't have to manually vacuum NEARLY as often.
all of the things you mentioned are basic things ANY robot with ANY navigation system should have, and it’s loud compared to any GOOD LiDAR or camera bot, Roomba’s are quieter than this thing (I own both so I would know ;)
I'd have to agree with you. I have this same model and have zero issues with it. Is it as good as a Roomba? No. But, at the price point of this unit vs. a Roomba, you really can't beat it. I've had mine for a year now and aside from cleaning the filters, which you must do with any bagless vacuum, I've had no problems with it. It isn't too quiet even on its loudest setting.
@@AdamsReviews I thought you wanted to send it back after your video review went so poorly. I only have mine for a few days now but am happy with the results I’m getting. Maybe it’s because I don’t have glitter or confetti on my carpet. In any case, I didn’t expect it to be as good as it is given the cheaper price. I’m sorry you didn’t like it. Even my dogs likes “Sharky”.
I dont mean to be offtopic but does someone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my login password. I love any tips you can give me.
@Salvador Maddux thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im trying it out now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
While first mapping it probably is using a different algorithm where it is more cautious. My guess is that it probably recharges at 50% because it doesn't know how much of the house is left and doesn't want to get stuck and have to restart the map if you have to rescue it. It also probably is a lot less efficient in its navigation while its mapping since it is also exploring. But more importantly. Please be careful with recommending Roborock. They are well known to be privacy nightmares and being vulnerable to hacking, and can let people into your home network without you realizing. They also send all of the data they collect back home to China.
Yeah this is all obvious, this is one of the best robotic vacs in its price range. Its very well reviewed by people who know what they are doing lol. Anyone who understands how these work know they do not run efficiently until they have a very good map of the area. Anyone shopping for this vac should read the thousands of verified purchase comments on YT, and watch better YT reviewers.
Hi Adam, thanks for all your hardwork in reviewing these vaccums. I see that you don't seem to have reviewed a Neato. Do you have any plans to review the Neato line up especially the Neato D4
My shark IQ mapped in one run but it was sideways. I just rotated it to match how I see my floor plan. Noticed that vacuum didn't run full power. I went into the app and told it to run vacuum full power and it did, no trouble. The vacuum has three power settings. When its mapping, I believe it is in ECO mode which is the lowest setting. So, no wonder it didn't clean as well. I suspect that it does that so that it has power to create the map. Saving its power to accomplish the task given which is to map.
I've been using mine since black Friday. I run it downstairs at night with the map and I carry it upstairs during the day. It's done a great with pet hair from my 2 dogs and the map of my downstairs is spot on.
@@19GREAT15AWAKENING06 It didn't. I just carry it upstairs and hit clean. It cleans all the surfaces it can reach then returns back to the same place it started.
What Model is this? I have a RV1101arus and a friend has RV1001ea. I wonder if I got a good one I does map good but friends doesn't map well. You top bin is a little like mine with the bin coming out the side, but it still has a handle to lift to get to other filter.
It's not very loud in my opinion. I have 5 robot vacuums, and this one is quietest. I accidentally got it for free. I purchased it, and canceled it within 30 minutes and it doesn't even show up in my orders so Amazon doesn't acknowledge that I have it and I can't send it back. Soooooooo free robot!
I just got this robot and it works perfectly I don't know y ur having trouble.....mine returns to dock and self empty every 30 mins.......it gos right back to the spot where it left off cleaning at...and it maps my house perfectly
I commented on your other video. The mapping feature will not map the whole house. That is why it's going back. We have wood floors throughout the house and it does a pretty good job but then sometimes it just randomly does its own thing. So you would suggest the Robo Rock or the iHome Nova I think it was? Please advise. Thanks again. Your videos definitely help
Thanks...I think the roborock overall is a better robot BUT right now does not have the self empty bin. and will be alot more expensive when it does., I will be doing more test with the nova soon.
i know this is an old video but that shark doesnt seem healthy at all its making more noise then the one i saw an tested at a pawn shop as i compared it with my autovac nova it worked fantastic but i stll love the lidar on the nova plus the custom roms . the rollers on yours sound bad
So glad I seen this video after I ordered the Shark..sent it back without even opening the box...bought a Roborock S4Max instead and its a amazing machine...did 1120 sqft in 90 minutes at full suction with 30% battery left after job done..no issues at all with the S4 Max and its amazing how much dust is in the dust bin even when my floors look clean..totally happy with the Roborock and so glad I saw this and the other video's on this Shark...no way would I had been satisfied with the Shark.
@Roomba Random Videos right, he thinks it sucks, i think it sucks, mine actually just stopped working for no reason last week. terrible vaccuum, and i hope anyone who reads this does not buy one
I've had this robot for a couple years and its frustrating, the app SUCKS. But all of a sudden it stopped charging, so I replaced the battery let it charge and went to start it would clean and was sending cliff codes. Called customer service they literally said there's nothing they can do. I just ordered a roomba J7. I hope it's a night and day difference.
Got my shark iq today and it’s for my small apartment and I’m a clean person but my German shepherd sheds a lot and I don’t want to vacuum every day because of her and I think it’s a good solution to my problem and I got it second hand for cheap with all original packaging so I think I got the bang for my buck only paid 250$ for my
Read the instructions in the app, by using the “?” Symbol to direct you to the Q&A. It’s still in the “mapping mode” and it will take at least 9 runs of different patterns to get an ideal floor plan to label your rooms. It’s important that you get the latest updates ( make sure your VPN) is off if you have one on your phone. The mapping duration is a pain.
For those who don't know, the rattling sound that this bot makes is by design. The noise comes from the rubber blades on the roller brush striking against the hair removal fins. This is what keeps the brushroll free of hair. It does sound somewhat alarming when running, but it definitely keeps hair tangles on the brushroll down. My Roborock S5 and Deebot T8+ are still much better than this Shark though....gave mine away.a
Idk, I have a roborock s5 and it does work good, good battery. But no auto bin. I bought this same shark iq and the thud sound is annoying, somewhat... not a deal breaker. The auto bin is great. I don't ever look at the vacuum for almost a month, maybe a bit longer. Empty the bin, check the roller one a month, its fine. Floors are clean, don't get any errors. Map is good, mine has the walls. Does take longer than roborock but, the shark works great overall and the auto bin seals the deal for me...roborock is in the closet
Turn off recharge and resume once I did that on mine it worked a lot better and really docked at 5% but before I had it on and it was docking at 40-50% so that’s probably your problem
I think the Shark ai has better navigation and is better for a home environment. The iq would be better for a workshop or a building with more simply shaped floorplan.
I’d imagine it returns at 50% to decrease wear on the battery or give you battery life for spot cleans. But I mean the batteries are user serviceable and like 20 bucks. Go drain them, I don’t care.
I think yours is defective. You have MUCH more roller noise than mine. If the roller bad, it is working many Xs harder than it should so it will eat up battery life. So it Mau be just poor quality control by Shark rather than poor performance. If mine made that noise it would be returned. The extra power used to over come a bad roller could effect other performance as well. IMO. PS they told me it takes 3 runs to get a good map. It's budget so...
Overall and in 3 days, I am very deceived of the app in many many ways. The machine is perfect but the brain of the app is terribly dumb with lots of bugs and no alternatives with its reboots. I live in Belgium and the European site doen't even give me a chance to register the robot with a guarantee service, so even though it's a gift, it's going back.
@@nickbien Dude I have the shark IQ without the self emptying bin dock and it has impressed me in every way because I actually have a RU-vid channel myself and I’ve done so many test and it has never failed
My shark mixes it up, sometimes it heads back at 50% or 30% or 20% battery. Heading back at 50% surprises me. Makes me think they are trying to protect the battery so they don't get too many warranty issues
Everyone who is saying they have a Shark IQ and they love it, that's awesome! If you have ever owned another brand, you would think differently. This man has a ton of vacuums and simply states that there are better robot vacuums at better cost to performance ratios. When you only own the Shark, you have NOTHING to compare it too! So obviously if you own the Shark, then its the best vacuum you ever had. If you owned a Roborock and a Shark, you wouldn't be saying that. I promise. If you don't believe me, show me somewhere in the comments where someone said "I TrAdEd my RoBoRocK iN fOr a ShaRk IQ AnD I LoVe it! BeSt DeCiSiOn I EvEr MaDe!!"
@@AdamsReviews way to show your unbiased towards the shark. I will continue to not subscribe and thumbs down. PS, I bought my shark IQ with self empty bin for $120 brand new from offerup so don't give me crap about other more affordable models.
JUNK! We bought one, wouldn't pick up dog hair AT ALL, just made little balls of hair and dropped them, and won't stay chßrged! Pure JUNK, but Shark did refund my money and took it back!
