If I may ask, what microphone did you use while riding & where exactly did you place the mic inside the helmet? -I'm currently having trouble with the mic placement. It's positioned near the front & in my footage, it sounds as if I ate the mic & my voice sounds extremely loud.

That's the question I had for you. There wasn't much wind noise and that's amazing for an open face helmet!

enjoyed the Shark Raw Helmet review, it looks kind of aggressive, when worn, but we all know there is a very entertaining chap underneath it, who does excellent informative videos which are a great help to us ( novice) motorcyclists. regards C.

I think its the kinda helmet that fit's perfectly for who owns a Harley or similar cruiser type motorcycle, for those who likes to just cruise and enjoy the ride. for the rest a proper Full face helmet is the better choice.

Hi TMF Recently found your site and have really enjoyed your videos. I just bought a Shark Raw yesterday and thought you might like to know that it has been modified in that there is no longer a removable bung to close the top ventilation slot. Instead it has a non removable sliding flap to open or close it. Probably an improvement in that the bung could easily be lost. A bit of a pain to assemble I found. Both in attaching the mask to the goggles and then attaching the whole assembly to the helmet. I struggled with all this for a bit but you only have to do it once so not a biggie. One question. The lens is not clear but a little darkened. How do you get on with using this at night? Is it feasible or too dangerous?

Per Haps Hi PH - really glad you've enjoyed my videos and interesting to hear they've modded the design a little - makes sense though by the sounds of it. I don't find the tinted goggles too bad at night, but then I don't ride that often in darkness so it's not really an issue for me. Thanks for watching - all the best - TMF

Guess what? On my first ride today with the Raw, the damn thing broke! I was bimbling along happily and suddenly the goggle/mask unit dropped away and was left dangling from just one of the retaining straps. The other had detached itself from its fitting to the helmet, inside that large round piece on the side that houses the swivelling joint. I was livid as the thing is brand new and it ruined my journey from Hemel to Bahnstormer in Maidenhead where I believe you bought your GS. I took it back to the retailer, On Yer Bike near Aylesbury which you also know, and got a refund. I asked the guy there if any others had failed in this way and he said not, and they've been selling them for at least a year. I know you're pleased with yours so it seems I was just unlucky. I didn't replace it because I've lost faith in the design though I agree with your assessment that it looks great, is low weight and quiet in use. I'll keep on using my old Caberg for the time being. I'm an open face rider and am considering getting a BMW Airflow instead of the Raw. Tried one on at BahnStormer. It looks big on the head but seems comfortable.

I've been thinking about getting one of these. I agree it drops a mark because it's not full face. I thought the mouth guard was integrated into the helmet and was full face, ah well. Looks like a good helmet for summer regardless. Subscribed!

Hi Nitrxgen - Yes it's a shame you don't feel quite as protected in this lid as you do in a full face - really light and comfy though and for Summer runs a great helmet (not to mention the mean looks)! Thanks for the sub and all the best - TMF

Oh yeah, definitely. It looks amazing. It looks as though it can make another motorist think twice about their actions on the road just by turning your head to them. The fact that it's light really attracts me. I had a fairly nasty motorbike crash 9 months ago and I still get whiplash pains from it sometimes. Putting on my common Caberg Duke is usually problem free but on a bad day, it feels like a ton of bricks.

One more thing: Will those side caps on the helmet support the weight of a Drift camera? They look like they pull off a bit too easily to mount a camera on there.

Nitrxgen Actually the side caps are very sturdy and would take a real hard pull to get off (not had mine off yet but they feel solid) - I think you could mount a camera on them as long as you're not frequently popping them on and off and thereby loosening the mechanism.....

Check out the Vancore, same design as the Raw but with a solid mouth piece.

No worries - was it you that asked? Sorry I forgot who it was.... Re sizing, all I can say is it fits me a treat (I'm "Large") - better than the Shoei I'd say but not as snug as the Arai's. To be fair to my Shoei I've had that longer and I think the padding is just getting compressed - of course there's also less of the Shark to fit your head so that probo makes a difference....

TheMissendenFlyer Yes, 'twas I. I'm a "Large" according to the measurements, but always find Arai too snug and Shoei a tad too generous. Varies a lot according to model, too. Might give the Shark Raw a try next Spring. Thanks again.

Len Scapoff Your experience of helmet fit squares with mine - I think you'll find the Shark a pretty comfy option - good price too (defo a Summertime lid though)...ride safe matey!

i read some reviews regarding this helmet.. majority complains about the noise... they say its not recommended for highways and they are using earplugs. some say riding in a high speeds might cause the gaggles to be a bit unstable... love the design but im worried on those feedbacks... any thoughts on this ? thanks

+muf koda well I've had no issues with noise or anything else - but then I always wear ear plugs. I love the helmet, light weight and cool looking :0)

Ive just bought one of these and initially thought they hadnt included the air vent rubber bung but then noticed the whole vent cover on top slided forward, so I assume that closes the vent.

+Nick Laskaris Works fine with specs, but you do need to lift the goggles to get them over the glasses when you put the helmet on as you say - no issue for me and I always wear glasses when riding.....cheers - TMF

Bought this several years ago and hated it after a month or so. Goggles are flimsy and the sides of the helmet keeping the goggles in will break away after some time of use. Overall feels very cheap :(

Mees Lauman Hi Mees - I always wear earplugs so noise isn't a problem ;0) The helmet does tend to lift off your head a bit at high speeds so needs to be strapped on tightly (no worse than other open face helmets though)....

The problem I have with this helmet is the noise. It's much noisier than my Bell Jet open face to the point of being deafening. The googles also have a habit of steaming up and rain water tend to pool between the two layers that form the lenses. The concept is ace and the styling top notch but much work needs to be done on reducing wind noise.

Strange that as I find this one of the quietist lids I have! I tend not to ride in terrible weather so can't comment on the steaming up front, I've had no issues thus far with it....

I may tape up the slot as on the later model it's a loose fit and rattles which may also contribute to the wind noise. Thanks for that.
