My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. ru-vid.comUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!
If you're making a channel and get feedback from the people who could be potential subscribers that's not the kind of attitude you would like to handle it with.
attempted last weekend for them in pure freshwater using a whole herring as a bait on a 7/0 circle had a huge take but no connection would it be worth swapping to live bait hooks and double hooks at that? might drop down in wire strength to. or is it better shark fishing in brackish/ water where freshwater flows on top of salt water?
Single 8/0 circle hook is all you should need... Sometimes they will pick up the bait and run for ages then drop it just persist and you will get one! Further upstream you get the smaller they get... Generally...
I have a question. at 4mins45 secs to 4mins50 secs the line goes slack but you are still moving quickly forward, how is this possible. also a 1.2m shark pulling you that quick, I don't think so. we have caught bigger sharks than that in the bay on yaks and they don't pull the yak around like that. I would love to hear a valid answer back to this
What happens when you paddle then stop? The yak continues to move forward due to momentum... The reason for the speed of the tow is due to the light weight of myself and the yak total of 80kg, there is no drag on my custom rig (it's either free spool or locked) and the fact that the camera makes it look a lot faster than it is in reality... If you don't believe me il set you up on my yak with the custom rig and you can experience it for yourself... :-)
+The Brisbane River Boys There's always gotta be some smart arse who obviously knows very little about the facts, yet has to try to make themselves look to be all knowing and attempt to belittle others. Never ceases to amaze and amuse me lol. Nice work with the shark and the footage mate, looks like you had a fun day out and also good to see the beastie released in relatively good shape. Cheers and tight lines to you.
Only use a long surf rod if fishing from shore and you need to cast a mile. They suck for fighting fish. A 2 meter rod with 50# braid and coated cable leader will land some scary sharks. You want a upper middle of the road reel as well. 60 or 80 class spinner or 2500 to 3500 class conventional reel. Ugly Stick makes a very fine rod for the money. Personally I carry a 6'6" and an 8' Ugly Stick with 80 spinning reels on my yak. The rod and reel combo will land a bigger fish than I can handle in a yak. 90# coated cable in a Carolina Rig with 60# fluorocarbon tied to 50# braid with a 6/0 to 8/0 circle hook. Use large squid or chunks of cut bloody/oily fish for bait. Mackerel, mullet, bonito, or horse size ballyhoo. Add a colored skirt for added effect. Also chumming the area helps a ton. Look for seafood cat food or other commercially available shark chum. Not all chum will draw in sharks reliably. Also fish in the early morning or at dusk for the best shark action. And above all!!!!!! Take your time. DO NOT get your hand in front of the shark. NEVER. Always from the side with long pliers. Sharks can bite a broom handle in half with their heads cut off. Good luck and be safe.
Snowygaming 403 Nice catch. The problem with long rods are simple. Leverage. Try a 5'6" to 6'6" rod on the same fish and you might just be surprised. A fish has twice the leverage on you with a 12' vs. 6'. My heavy duty yak rod is a 5'6" Shimano Trevala jigging rod. It has massive flex and massive spine. A new generation of rod. Perfect for yaks. Sharks can bolt full power and it is easy to keep the yak in a safe angle. Also dealing with a 12' rod on a yak is a major pain as well as the sailing effect from all that rod.
+Christopher Murrell the 2.8m is great for hard to reach places and hectic launch locations being light and easy to carry/throw around but the 4m in my opinion is the better kayak... It handles much better, holds more weight, can go into shallower water and can take on rough water in the bay much better... It really depends on what you want to do with it
Laughed out loud, literally. The intense music sided by the spoofs was a nice combo. Like yin and yang or sugar and salt or sweet and sour. Kudos on this production and thanks for the laughs.
Hey guys im planning on fishing freshwater for bull shark near my house I have a 4-8kilo snapper rod loaded with 20lb braid I was thinking of running a 3-5 meter trace of 50 lb mono then have 49 strand nylon coated wire strength wise I have 20 30 50 80 100 150 and 200 lb wire what would be best for sharks same size as in the vid? If rod is to light I have a 15-24 kilo spin rod with 600 meters of 65 lb braid and bait will be dead mullet or slabs of carp any tips on hook size and style? Ie j vs
Forget the mono... I've seen sharks chew through 150lb braided steel trace... All you need is about 1m of 60-100lb single strand stainless trace wire availabe from BCf for around $10 a roll... Top it off with a single 8/0 circle hook and your set... They are not on the chew ATM being so cold but there are still a few around... Good luck and be careful
Are you guys not using sinkers! If i was land based wud i use sinkers or not just live poddies like u blokes.....and send it down stream ...also how lbs line u boys usin mono or braid i am recently a local and wen do u boys stop chasing in em wat time of year is to late ?
I'm sorry but the music made all the leaves fall off my plants & I had earpods in...kidding, that was dumb but the music was intense and I read your comment saying you wish you could redo but don't have the video anymore so no need to reply especially as it has been a long time ago. The shark looked really tired as well, could be the music got to him as well😂😂😂. Thanks for the entertainment!
If I don't like the music I just turn it down/off. Cuz it's like a backhanded compliment. "You look good considering how old you are." "You look good FOR YOUR AGE." "You're pretty good looking being the skeleton/scaregrow ...that you are." It's a great clip - I couldn't believe he PULLED a shark outta that - I was like NO WAY, this is a JOKE. but sure enough here-come-the-teeth !!!!! ...
What gear did you use Luke?? I'm thinking bout getting a kayak I live near this place I know there would be better gear out now just any tip or anything would be helpful and much appreciated thx mate
Tip... don’t use hand lines or this style of setup... it’s fun but dangerous! Rod and reel is all you need! Steel trace and a good size hook 8/0+ live bait and hold on...
....my God..the musical score was like from the “Apocalypse Now”......but I have to say...pretty good speed out of such a little motor....poor thing obviously overheated in the end there...
Na Brisbane river is too far south to have crocs even now I'm in bundy they are rare... As far as them taking people out of boats it's not impossible but it's not common either maybe once every 50-100 years
Wow!!! great catch and I like your technique, was down that way myself last weekend and there must have been 80 kids in canoes at the scout camp. Mind you they were splashing about and making enough noise to scare away a school of sharks.
That's what attracts sharks. Bull sharks have also been known to attack canoes and kayaks and people in them. I certainly wouldn't be putting a bunch of small children in canoes and kayaks into that river and encouraging them to splash about because a hand in the water is a target and if they get a hold of a kid they will easily pull them in. Plenty of instances in Parramatta River of attacks on the rowers and many not in the news told to me by friends.
Sorry everyone I totally understand the over use of music however I am limited with what I have to use and the sound through the water proof case is crap as well anybody have any suggestions and tips for music use? I'd love to have top 40 music but I'm not sure about copywright laws... Would love if a couple of bands wanted to give us the rights to use their music... This video is done and won't be being re-edited however this won't be the last shark video we do next time I'm hoping for bigger!!
They picked that music so it would be faster for dramatic effect. Make it more intense. Make the viewer feel what they felt. It's not bad for the video it's on. I can't say I don't like the music. But I can't say I love it either. But It fits the video.
Have you guys ever fished the Logan River at all? I hear there are some decent bullies there Epic video guys :D gonna share your channel for more subs and views!
+Please Stop Your Bitching more than happy for the myth busters team to take it on! 😝 one of these days I'll find or make another winch and do another video that can't be questioned...
That shark hearing yooo hoooo being screamed out as he eats the fish and gets hooked up is enough to make it bolt and take this clown for a ride.... I mean..... Who the fuck wants to hear yoooo hooooo being screamed out of a aussies yorak
You can but the small ones have no meat and over a meter they start to build Mercury levels in the body so if you want to catch for a feed I recommend sticking to the meter mark and don't eat more than one a month or you may end up getting sick... They taste great though and have no bones
So live is better i catch alot of bully and freshwater mullet on bread and also freshwater herring at my spot where iv seen sharks and i hate using single strand iv had it kink and it ruins rigs ill run doubled 150 49 strand or 200lb will use circle hooks this way wire is away from teeth
Bull sharks can tolerate fresh water and they use the rivers like nurseries... safe places for the babies to grow before heading out... they are in every major river in the world that has free access to the ocean
+Ingvaaar1 bull sharks use rivers as nurseries for their young... Full grown bull sharks have been well documented a long way up rivers all around the world...
Now I know why Aussies have small population. Do they all catch sharks and bring them into a kayak. Clearly these guys are not avid fisherman or you would not bring a shark in the boat.
+Daniel Darling ha shows what you know... I could explain it again but I honestly couldn't be bothered... Look through the other comments or put your ass in a kayak beside me so I can prove you wrong
