Hi there, I was a sea scout at middle harbour on Sydney harbour. I was told never to swim whilst manning a number of sea scout craft as there were too many aggressive bull sharks in the waters. You would not get me in or on the waters in Sydney harbour unless I was on a minimum 3 metre by 2 metre wide water craft. So practice and experience rebuffs scientists' theories of minimal shark attack risks as there are two many sharks in the harbour. Way too risky for a swim except in shark protected pools by local councils. Colonial New South Wales records display a number of fatal and non-fatal shark attacks in Sydney harbour. Check Mitchell Library records. The State Government needs to put up signs warning people of the risks. Kind Regards Chris Eriksson

@NorthCoastSharkFishing
@NorthCoastSharkFishing 2 года назад
Hello: we insert a Fisheries tag into the shark and provide the tag number and details of the shark including: date/time, where caught, length of shark, condition on release etc etc. If someone else catches the shark, there a phone number for them to ring and provide their info, date/time, where caught etc etc. that way Fisheries can gather info on the shark as to how far it has swam, growth rate etc etc.

The bulls are the most aggressive shark bar none, but it is just part of nature and it's a beautiful, very successful hunter, I love sharks, I've lived next to the ocean and in it, I'm glad I never had interactions with Mr Bill, I say that out of real respect, their great, but their absolute killers, if it clamps down on you, your losing whatever he's biting, and if your alone in the water, pray for help, cause your gonna need it.

@NorthCoastSharkFishing
@NorthCoastSharkFishing 2 года назад
Hi: yes Bull Sharks have always been able to swim in salt and fresh water. They excrete salt from their bodies to tolerate the fresh water. The large female Bull Sharks travel up the rivers to give birth to their young to protect them from other sharks.

Not here in South Africa. The vast majority of fishermen here are environmentally savvy, so 99% of sharks are released. I certainly don't and won't keep one. The same applies to rays, sandsharks and skates. Not sure about Aus though, but I would imagine they'd be really catch and release focused. In the end, we have to ensure the future of our sport.

Hi: I catch sharks for research, hence the tagging and sampling of the sharks. Bull sharks have been swimming into this river for thousands of years and killing one shark will not make the river any safer for swimmers. There has only ever been two attacks in this river with the last being in 1919. You have more chance making a fool of yourself with you un-educated comments than you do getting bitten by a shark. Thank you
