Not only did he have to deal with the tragedy of Sharon's death, but at the same time he had to establish (for the police) that he had no involvement in the murder.
He was distraught, he could not understand why and a normal person would kill his wife who was kind and just about to have his baby. So he went a little overboard on testing peoples auto for signs that they might have had something to do with her murder. It would be very very hard to process this act of murder by any standards. This is not to excuse his actions later on in his life, but on this one point, most would understand his wanting to find out who killed his wife and baby.
Nothing makes me sadder than seeing live video of Sharon Tate. ANYONE can see her energy and exuberance and dedication to her unborn child. Even after 40+ fucking years I'm STILL disgusted by Charles Manson; his "girls" and "guys" and the things they did in order to instigate a 'race riot/war'. Had Sharon's baby lived he would be in his 40's now. Sharon might be a grandmother....Roman a grandfather. They would all probably be lost to the grind of Hollywood. Not to this horror!

He did know. After he went there and was met by Sharon's photographer who told him Melcher didn't live there anymore and who was he to come there, and then told him to go see Altobelli in the guesthouse, but not to go on the lawn, but to go round the path near the fence. It was there that Altobelli confirmed Melcher had moved out and told Manson not to bother his new tenants again. I guess Manson was mighty pissed after all that.
Wow...what an odd and very sad twist of things: Sharon savagely murdered; her mother dies of brain cancer and one of her sisters died of breast cancer. They were ALL too young!

@Cindy Fitzgerald - All of those horrid memories caused the brain to turn in on itself and start devouring itself. Tate's sister's mind couldn't take holding in the memories anymore and the pain carried with it. Atkins memories and guilt of denying a dying mother her last wish. Cancer thrives on stress...and the part of the body carrying the most stress is where the cancer is going to grow. After losing almost my entire family to cancer, it's how I look at it anyway.
Debra is stunning and articulate. I love to hear her speak on the case. The Tate women were/are beautiful, from the inside out. I find the scenes in 12 +1 eerie where Sharon stabs the chair with a knife and the last scene where the lead actor starts looking like Charles Manson in a shocking finale. Very disturbing scene stuff.
Yes those scenes in her final film are eerie. Also her last interview was in London for Queen magazine, shortly before her departure to the United States, the interviewer reportedly asked Sharon, 'Do you believe in fate'? Sharon reportedly answered, 'Certainly. I know this...Ive never planned anything that ever happened to me'.😱 The last scene in 13 Chairs was of Sharon at the dock, dressed all in white like an angel....waving goodbye. Portent as well as poignant. Rest in peace and Rest in power, Sharon.💪💯
I don't understand why the death penalty would not apply to the murderers AFTER it had been reinstated. If their sentence can be commuted to life, why not death? California is probably the most ridiculous state in the US.

Each time I see Roman Polanski speak that day after he came back, it torns my heart in tiny pieces. I so feel with him. What he had to go through, is much more than someone shoukld bear in his life. He has in my eyes a huge portion of excuses for what he used to do in his life, he is only a human being, too, and has to fight with so many cruel experiences. And even if 500 now yell at me and write 'but he later did that thing...!'- in this moment, when I see that poor human, I only feel pure sadness and want to go down on my knees and cry in deepest pain.

Because Manson killed a famous beautiful actress who was 8 and a half months pregnant. , Manson became famous. Manson didn’t make Sharon famous. Sharon was born lucky enough to be the generations greatest beauty, everything came to her. Because it did it put her in that house that night which fate dealt her an awful hand. She died perhaps the most horrible way anyone could ever die. Terrorized in her home. Brought out by her killers in only a bra and panties, 8.5 months pregnant only to witness the second love of her life jay murdered within seconds. Then witnessing others slaughtered screaming for their lives, then with a rope around her neck tied over a beam begging a woman who had given birth earlier in the year say “ look bitch , your gonna die and I have no mercy on you” . Then Tex tightened the rope , cut her face to stun her to stay still and then thinking of her mom said “ oh mother “ as Tex plunged a knife deep in to her body 16 times , 5 of which were fatal in themselves feel the life drain from her. All hopes for her baby died with her. The last face she saw on earth ( Tex and Atkins ) killing her. Where was God , she surely felt the sense of evil sensing the end of her life and feeling the stab wounds repeatedly with no respit. . What she felt about life in these last moments had to make her feel that life was an evil joke. The main reason I want to believe in god is not only for myself but for those like Sharon who got such a raw deal . There has to be a god to make things right in the end for those who were treated so unfairly.

Sharon was beautiful inside and out. We lost a most precious young lady and her and Romans son. Those people who killed her need to stay in prison for life. My they burn in hell for life.
I will always think that Sharon deserved better than Roman Polanski. He tries to paint everything so rosy despite his philandering, as does Debra. And there is evidence that she was at least contemplating divorce at the time of the murders. I hate what happened to Sharon, her unborn son, Jay Sebring, Voytek Frykowski, Abigail Folger, Steven Parent and Leno and Rosemary LaBianca. May their killers rot in prison for the rest of their days.

There is no proof whatsoever that Sharon had any affairs. Christopher Jones claimed that he was involved with Sharon YEARS after the murders. He has no proof, Sharon would have been heavily pregnant at the time.

I think if Sharon had married Jay Sebring they would be alive today. She would have possibly been having his baby instead. Her parents were very impressed with Jay Sebring. He was nice looking. Roman was good looking in a different way. He wasn't what you would call handsome, just good looking. But from what I understand, he was calling her names because of her weight from being pregnant. I think he called her a fat cow. Now sure exactly what he said. No matter what it was, he had no right, just because he was married to her.

Tex Watson shouldn't be released. Out of all of the killers, he is the most dangerous. I mean, I know I'd want to be released from prison, too; but dude killed at least 7 people. People have been executed for far less.
From what I remember that I have read on the case, Charlie had a beef with Melcher but that may not have been his only reason. Charlie wanted to start a huge war which he believe the Beatles song Helter Skelter told him to. He didn't care if there was one person or 50. they were all supposed to die. He figured the Blacks would be blamed.
Your exactly right. Melcher had no interest in Manson's music, they went there because of Manson's hate for Melcher. Unfortunately for Sharon, they had lived there almost 6 months. Melcher had moved but it didn't really matter to Manson, he thought he was starting Armageddon.
She knew Tex and the girls were the ones who killed her daughter. She made Victims Rights and Impact Statements the law. She never went to one of Charlie's parole hearings. Even though he is the motivation behind it He was not there that night. She is a very brave woman to confront evil and her legacy will live on because of it.
Sharon Tate I saw some footage of her before pregnancy. She seemed like a nice kind person. It is terrible that such a crime happened to one like her plus she was heavily pregnant. I can't imagine how anyone could attack and stab a pregnant women like this. And she begged for her life truly they should have spared her. This is very bad karma to attack a defenseless pregnant woman begging for her child's life. Sh*theads. They will never be forgiven I'm sure.
But that's the catch. God said that the more we forgive those that do wrong, the worse their punishments will be. But we have to forgive with a pure heart or it doesn't count. That's more difficult than it sounds. Try forgiving them for killing Sharon while she begged for her childs life. Try forgiving someone like Chris Watts, the guy who strangled his pregnant wife AND his two sweet little toddler daughters then shoved them into the big oil tanks, all for the lust of a slut. It's tough to earn the keys to the Kingdom but God promises that it's worth it...

At that time, there were no suspects, no leads, on who killed them all. They Police were trying to get help with information, so that could be reason for interview and photo at front door. Polanski could have very well been in shock. I have no doubt he suffers from PTSD, after his childhood and losing his wife and baby to more horrid killers. We can't possibly judge what this man was thinking. I think he loved her, and there is no doubt she loved his little goofy looking ass, but I think they were really cute together.
