I’ve been using a Kalamazoo 1X42 for fifteen years and I get my knives stupid sharp. The 1X42 felt belts and leather stropping belt is where the magic happens!!
A shits a giggles question: have you considered stropping with diamond paste? I understand keeping to the KISS rule. Thanks for the entertaining content!
Very good. I have many ways to sharpen since I got into knife collecting a couple years back. While my edges are good the paper towel kicks my ass. My very best edges get a few inches then snag.
Lol. This wasn’t so much of a how to. More like a how I. I think this is the fifth “sharpening” video I’ve done so far. Honestly I don’t like to show it because if you aren’t careful. One can quickly ruin a knife. Thank you for watching 😊
I was about to buy a Ken Onion worksharp for $120 and the attachment for $70 that changes the belt orientation and has an angle guide. Thats too much fkn money and before you even buy additional belts for it. I'm going to just buy the 1x30 belt sander from Hazard Fraught instead.
Ok, im too lazy to see if you answered this in the other sharpening videos. The green compound belt, is that just a regular belt backward with paste on it or a specialized belt?
Glad you seem to enjoy sharpening your knives...I much prefer dulling them. Just spent 3 days “In them thar hill’s” beating on a bucket of blades. And being my usual self, I didn’t think of documenting any of it till the last few hour’s. I actually did make a few crappy videos I’ll probably be embarrassed to show. It’s a step in the right direction. Maybe you can teach an old dog new tricks...lol
I couldn’t ask for better weather. Trip was a gear test and tune along with conditioning myself for a big trip in a few week’s. Acclimating to altitude and cold... “embrace the suck” so they say...Playing with blades is always a bonus.
@@peterbiltknifeguyhey what angle did u use and why? I love your set up and the jig u made to allow for edge trailing sharpening and stropping... trying to replicate this and just was wondering on your starting angle, thanks and love your vids brother
@@peterbiltknifeguy the only reason we ask is because we want to know how you do it and not what some other "salesman " is trying to push on us . we love your honesty.😁
@@peterbiltknifeguy your hand wrist are the secret, we javanese we all (almost) sharpening in conveks, so its can stand longer against tropical hardwood, nice video by the way 👍👍
