It’s impressive how cruwear holds an edge for so long but is so damn easy to sharpen. Sharpened up my Military 2 Crucarta thinking it would take a while on ceramic stones. But nope. Mirror finish in no time.
Very nice sharpening system, it reminds me of my lansky controlled angle sharpener. This will be my first knife with micarta on it, can’t wait to see it in person 😁
Recently picked up a precision adjust sharpener myself and sharpened my first blade the other day on it. It was a more simple steel than Cruwear, 14c28n on a Civivi Qubit, although it was damaged pretty good as the blade was touched on a battery by accident burning a nice hole in the edge which had to be sharpened out quite a bit lol. I was impressed with the performance of that little sharpener! it did a good job coming out very sharp and was easier to use than my old Lansky clamp system. I also bought the aftermarket little wedge support that goes underneath the blade clamp to keep it from flexing while sharpening and that is definitely worth the few extra bucks to keep the angles more consistent. Overall I do like the sharpening system more than expected and I also have a sharpmaker for doing touchups and micro bevels along with a diamond plate for free hand work. The work sharp will most likely be my most used system going forward.
Oh snap, I didn’t know there was a wedge available to help support the angle - I noticed the flex can be problematic. I have to go slowly and lightly at times lol. I really the ease of use. I also have a WSKOBGA that I used initially but realized that the convex edge it gives wasn’t working out as well lol.

Anytime I tried to clamp my Lansky to a spine with any grind angles it never stays centered. Does that system allow the blade to move? Because most of my knives have a grind, (except my Moras), I bought some affordable diamond stones to learn freehand. Getting pretty decent at it.
@@chrishynes6091 That’s dope you’re learning freehand! One of the harder sharpening skills to become proficient at imo. The clamp on the WorkSharp does a pretty good job at keeping the blade from moving and does stay clamped on knives with swedges (if that’s similar to what you’re referring to as grind angles?) They have an V-shape portion of the clamp that locks into most spines - least from my experience. You do have to crank it down to minimize any blade movement during sharpening.
@@chrishynes6091Man, I just re-read your comment and realized I may not have accurately answered your question smh lol. In terms of centering the knife, the blade shape will impact that a ton as well. My Spydercos all look funky when clamped on, but the sharpening still ends up being pretty even.
