I think the aperture comment was one of the more low key fun facts about sharpness... especially for lower end glass, the mid range aperture usually has sharper images. You'll often hear pros talk about getting some of the sharpest pics at f7-f11 range. Super advanced, some landscape guys like FOCUS STACKING to get all depth ranges of their photos sharp and in focus rather than doing something like shooting F22 let's say to get as much in focus/sharp as we can.
@AnthonyGugliotta
@AnthonyGugliotta 9 месяцев назад
Good point. I notice the 50mm f1.2 for example has great sharpness at the lowest aperture compared to the 50mm f2 which definitely cleans up closer to f2.8
@JGazze
@JGazze 9 месяцев назад
@@AnthonyGugliotta I definitely notice the 15-35 f2.8 we like have end to end sharpness compared to some mid to entry level wide I’ve used previously which were soft by comparison at the end ranges

I am a beginner and my biggest focus problem was not knowing the limitations of my budget lenses. Take the Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 for instance. Focal lengths above 200mm will be out of focus. f/11 is the sharpest aperture up to f/16 is usable.

One thing to note is that you shouldn't over-crop your photos or it may affect to your image quality (sharpness as well). If you consistently find yourself needing to crop 20-30%, you need to rethink your gear, technique, or subjects. Sometimes cropping is necessary (e.g., in wildlife photography), but it should never be relied upon. When taking images of stationary subjects, you can always take a moment to think before capturing the shot.

And if you need to use tripod then use it..don't always try to get everything handheld. You can also lean to something like tree or rock or something to reduce your body movement (like shooting with sniper). for example: sometimes if you take photos in the forest get tripod and take multiple photos (while focusing on different trees) and stack them together and you get pretty amazing results.. Image will be much sharper. Same with macro shots..
@dev.sharif
@dev.sharif 9 месяцев назад
One of the tips is not correct in general. the tip that says raising f-stops a little bit to get a sharper photo may correct for cheap lenses like EF 50mm f1.8 that get the sharpest photos in f3.5 or f4 but we have newer lenses that are generally created to be sharpest in the lowest f-number. I know that you know this, maybe someone else read this comment and learned something🙃 I really liked this video, I appreciate it.

First of all Anthony I really really love your videos, keep up the phenomenal content, but regarding iso, my canon 250d is terrible at ISO, yeah, the absolute barebone limit is 1600, and ofcourse that has ton of noise, and yeah mirrorless cameras nowadays just produce such nice quality photos, and are amazing at high Iso's like 5000
