Sharpies luck: The story of Alan Sharp 

"The plane exploded over the gun deck, and I had a bit of aluminium off it, and every time I looked at it I‘d think, ‘Gee you’re lucky to be alive Sharpie’."
Alan ‘Sharpie’ Sharp remembered his Second World War service as if it were yesterday.
Veteran, sailor and great-grandfather, Alan was interviewed by the Memorial in 2023; he celebrated his 100th birthday in February 2024, and passed away in April, 2024.
It is with deep gratitude to Alan and his family that we share his story with you this Anzac Day.
