I agree with the audio that we must promote our own. If we don’t value our own, how would a foreigner value us? As for the music, it’s okay to play and listen to music from other countries. There is nothing wrong with that. However, for Ghanaians to portray Nigerian’s culture in customary things like marriage shouldn’t be promoted. All the tribes in Ghana have a rich culture, and we must promote it, rather than other countries.

Politicians have successfully finished our country and we're here stressing over unecessary issues. Nigerians are competing globally while we're competing with them low key. You happily wear suits, polo shirts etc made by the white man but you have problems someone wearing a fellow black country's dress. Ghanaian Kente has become the official traditional clothing for traditional weddings in many African countries, and no one is mad. That's the beauty of culture. Tribalism is our problem in west Africa. Abrokyire depression ne kasa tenten🙄

My friend, if you understand the word " Conservative " and "Sankofa", you won't be saying what you are saying. The uniqueness of the Ghanaian Culture makes people around the World embrace it so we need to preserve and improve on it. If we should all be wearing Nigerian clothings and speaking their language, what will happen to ours?. I live in Europe but I speak Twi to my children and tell them Ananse stories all the time. This is to make sure they don't loose their identity as a people. Try to live with Italians or go near them and you will understand what the brother is saying. His language may be harsh but he's right in drawing attention to the gradual erosion of our unique culture. To enslave a people, you teach them your language, give them your food, and let them dress like you and those people will forever depend on you. This is what the Europeans used to enslaved our ancestors.

@@elvisasante2479 Ghana's culture has survived centuries of western colonization and it's not going anywhere because of Nigeria. I'm amazed at the selective amnesia being displayed here. The westernization of our culture has far more damming consequences than any African culture would. The entire white wedding is neither Ghanaian nor African, yet somehow that doesn't seem to anger anyone, it is only the Nigerian dress. Can someone explain this to me? In any case, we're mostly connect by culture in west Africa. Voltarians shares a lot of culture with some parts of Togo, Benin and even Nigeria. Many of our zongo communities and the northern parts of Ghana have have a lot in common with Burkina Faso, mali, Niger and northern Nigeria. I've been to many countries in west Africa, and I can boldly tell you that there's more that unites us than divides us. Having said that, I'm not saying we as Ghanaians shouldn't safeguard our own. My wife is and kids also live in Europe as well, and we raise our kids with African values so they don't forget their roots. The subject matter is the crime of some Nigerians in the country and also the porous nature of our borders. Let's deal with that and stop the pettiness.

@@fredowusu22My brother your argument is defeatist. Why do we have to protect our borders and stop the influx of so many people as you are saying?. Nigeria has a population of 250 million + people and since Ghana is next Country that shares a common language (English) not culture, there is the tendency of our country been overrun by them which in effect will submerge what you call culture and our way of life. We have nothing in common with Nigerians and this is a fact. We and the Ivorians are separated by borders but majority of Ivorians are Ghanaians by tribes. The southern side of Burkina have similarities with Ghanaians. On our Eastern border we have the Anglos and the Ewes who shares brotherhood with our Togolese brothers and sisters. The Hausas and the Gaos we have in our Zongos are immigrants who settled amongst us and somehow have become Ghanaians but we don't have Hausa or Fulani as a tribe in Ghana. We are talking about Cultural influence, and these influences come with numbers. If its true that you live or have lived in Europe, you will have heard one phrase which is common among Europeans ie: the Germans will tell we are Germans and we do our things this way, the Italians will say the same to you when you are in Italy and so will the English also tell you the same when you are in UK. Even Technological wise they will tell you this is German technology, this is Italian technology etc etc. I don't Nigerians and I don't think Ghanaians hates them, but am a Ghanaian and wants to be a Ghanaian.

But Ghanaians can never Lower ourselves to adopt a Nigerian culture for any valid reason whatsoever!!. Our Ghanaian cultures have received recognition and respect for centuries to date!. Please this is not to disrespect any cultures but why should we on earth put aside and go for something that is not even up to our own, let along above our own.?.
