I remember playing WoW in late vanilla-BC. When i had finally gotten to level 20 i didn't know anything about Shattrath til i saw talk of it in trade chat at Stormwind, so I got a mage portal there and i saw all sorts of crazy flying mounts zooming through the sky, and tons of horde and alliance interacting with eachother and walking around on their merry way. It felt like a real, lively city. Something i dont think could be captured in wow again. You could argue dalaran, but Dal feels alot different from Shatt. Being in Shattrath during it's glory days was a very unique experience and it's a shame it's been reduced to a ghost town because all it's uses were taken away (i.e. the only city w/ portals to everywhere). I wish they could add more to it like Dalaran so it's still alive. I have never had so much nostalgia and lvoe for a game before, good times.
@balriel7229
@balriel7229 10 лет назад
Yeah, it's a shame. Even though certain areas are low level, I don't think Blizzard should dismiss them as much, cause a lot of work goes into them.

Shattrath will be back in the next expansion. But I'm not sure if it'll be a hub like it was before. It'll also look different.
@superwowman100
@superwowman100 10 лет назад
unrealeck Yeah im aware of that. It wont be a hub; we get alliance and horde cities again instead of a sanctum. How epic they'll be compared to shatt? idc, but i'm sure they'll be epic. Def better than those dingy old Shrines in the Vale that are a far cry from an *_actual_* city like Shatt or Dal.
@unrealeck
@unrealeck 10 лет назад
***** Well either way I'm interested to see what it looks like. The WoD site says it's a large city or some shit so hopefully it'll actually be like a large city. Like Stormwind size.

I remember going through Outland, it felt like such an adventure after vanilla WoW. It felt so original, so different. Hellfire Peninsula was amazing, Zangarmarsh and Nagrand beautiful, Shattrath and Terrokar eery and mysterious. Blade Edge and Netherstorm did nothing for me though, but those first four zones were amazing.

Wolfee 27 Dalaran was probably one of the greatest cities Blizzard ever designed. The only real issue with it was it being small enough to cause a lot of lag. Blizzard had to nerf it just to get people to stop going to it.

Classic WoW remains the best imo in terms of what it managed to convey to the player, the feeling of unknown and mystery, excitement and a sense of achievement everytime a new challenge was overcome. The expansions brought too much, too fast and all in a rush. It's sad that the new new new expansion will get rid of a beautiful game.

@Belzeboob, Yeh after classic, BC was still really challenging, we had to do aloooot before we finally could do some heroics and then wipe wipe!! Raids still needed attunement so we had to do alot of quests before we finally could go Karazhan. Besides the challenge I loved the atmosphere and the lore, it was a fantastic experience. WOTLK was still beautifull, also with epic lore, but the challenge was mostly gone.

Proposal for a re-imagining of the game. Go back to the basics. Simplify the story, bring back the need for vast exploration, and expand the roster in an organized format. On top of all of this, a graphics overhaul will be no hassle with the engines running today. Remove the necessity for monthly fees and focus on the quality of gaming to rake in the money. Loyalty will keep the game alive, as evident today with the crappy game it became. Instead of a fan base loaded with mindless Scourge, bring back a community of battle-hardened freedom fighters seeking to kick back after a long day at work.

Sometimes I am little bit sad for these people who tend to insult us, long years, WoW players with insults like: "NOLIFERS, BAAAH, NERDZ. LuOL, How you can be sentimental or attached to a computer game? Aaa HEHE!" ... We have spent literally hundreds of real days of our lifes in this second universe. Lot of us met real friends, experienced big challenges, victories. OFC WoW is just computer game, but for big amount of people it is big part of their life. Thats why we are sentimental. ;)

@vvbn7890 I, like yourself and millions of others out there, get such a deep emotional stir when I hear this music. So many good memories float back. My first time in Karazhan I will never forget. But, at the same time, I neglected a lot of my real life and my real life friends for something that, at the end of the day, is pretty much fruitless. It was great while it lasted, but I got away and am glad it's now only a fading memory!
@lastplacewin
@lastplacewin 13 лет назад
@vvbn7890 Same here. My interest in WoW started declining as soon as WotLK hit. Being a Warcraft lore nerd I really wanted to see the xpac through and kill Arthas. Deathwing though has no meaning to me, I have no want to kill him and the game itself has changed so much from what I first loved about it. I can come here, get my fix of music and reminisce about the good ol' days then go on with my life that this game stole for so many years.

For anyone who quit WoW during TBC and somehow come to be listening to this music again... is it as creepy and sickening for you as it is for me? I quit WoW in 2007 and never looked back... but this music, I dunno... so many hours of my life wasted standing in Shattrath... It's just strange to hear it again now that I'm a different person, in a different place.

Vanilla: Never played I wish I did though. The Burning Crusade: Joined just before Black Temple patch. I was a nobody but I didn't complain because that was the best time I ever played. Wrath of the Lich King: Was awsome untill they added the new dungeon finder. Cataclysm: sucked! The community was dead and only getting worse, world PVP was dead and WOW had gotten boring. Quit half way through just before 4.3. Again even though I was a nobody in TBC I didn't complain about how hard it was.

Does anyone know any music similar to this or other Outland zones? I find it is much more unique than the music from the newer expansions, presumably because it is meant to convey a sense of otherworldliness. The instruments used and the atmosphere created on this soundtrack in particular are mindblowing. So, if anyone knows of anything similar. please respond or contact me otherwise. I would be extremely grateful.

I quit 2 things more then a year ago. 1 smoking tobacco (smoked for over 16 years) and 2 playing wow (played more then 6 years). After more then a year I still think about both things....but I will be honest....the urge to play wow again and find myself lost in some magical mysterious world is so much bigger then smoking a cig again even tho tabacco seems to be one of the hardest addictions to get over with.

So true, I remember going over to friends house almost every Friday and we would all play WoW togeather. It was the one day that I basically nerded out and instead of going to teen partys I would game with my best buds. I remember sitting up til 5 AM one night pvping as a destro lock with my friend who was playing a resto druid. We were both in pve gear but absolutely destroyed:). @Terremides I got owned because a lowly boy feels a deep, soul fulfilling connection with a game. It simply brings him to tears to be reminded of the game every time he logs on... I'll tell you, I am pretty swept in tears when I sign on to xbox live and listen to the start up sound. It's different if he has a connection with the music, but it's the opposite when he has a connection with a game that embodies the driest story line I have ever heard of.

@vvbn7890 I am glad for you and anyone else who has done the same. I used to really be into it back in TBC. Wow is one of those things were if you think you are playing too much, then you most likely are. I realized that and had to stop. Now I only play a couple hours every few months. It might just be me getting older, but the game does not have the draw it once did. I quest and do some dungeon runs and think "Yeah really need to go do something productive now."

I remember first day of BC... I went with my priest to Hellfire Peninsula... and I was like:"OMFG! THIS IS EPIC!" when seeing the Door of Destinies... then my guildmates told me:"Hey, went to a mushroom marsh, and then head south, there is a capital." So I went... then, after few seconds in Shattrath, it was even more epic than any moment I have experienced in WoW before... I mean, first visit to Northrend was not epic... it was atmospheric, but not stunning. The same for Dalaran.

@Stormtroopr Yeah me to when I bring an alt up to TBC its a right of passage and think of those moments that this was end game. I do miss TBC Blizz rushed into WoTLK as they have admitted and it shows Cata looks like they took the time to do it up right! If not I will have an alt in Shatt thinking back to when the game was better. So Plz Blizz don't let the folks down that have been here since vanilla was put out

You just got older and understood the game in a different light in further expansions, thus incorrectly labeling them "video game-ish" or "epic adventure-ish". This is also called NOSTALGIA. You are always playing an adventure video-game when it comes to WoW. Whether or not it's an "epic" adventure is up to you and you alone.

There is no difference regarding that what so ever, plus now that you have more expansions and patches, hence more content there shouldn't be a reason to complain that you don't have anything to do. Prioritize your time and you'll know what I mean.

@lifeeconomics812 you cant describe the feelings i've had with awesome TBC. But recalling the past sucks when it comes to nostalgica. Stop it and enjpy Cata, which is so fucking awesome. If only it had slightly better music. Which isn't bad at all either.

Hey, have you considered "WoWictory" (search on Google for it)? On their website you can watch a useful free video demonstrating how you can speed run World of Warcraft. It helped many gamers inside the forum to speed level in WoW and then maximize his character very fast. Perhaps it will help you also.

Vanilla: Ironforge/Stormwind TBC: Shat Wotlk: Dalaran Cata: back to SW/IF It finally came full circle :). I thought cata was OK but after having played since vanilla Beta I stopped a year ago. The music still brings back good memories, I will never stop listening to WoW music.
