Why tell the congregation to pray for their needs and they not doing likewise , instead begging for the congregation money knowing how hard it is out here for some of us Most are losing homes car's and without food. @@mzznewyork5406 unfortunately this is common practice among MOST Pastors. Years ago a church I use to attend was split up into groups to raise money for the Pastors Anniversary. Pastors Son asked me to head up a group of ten when I asked what my duties were I was told everyone in the group had to pledge 2,000 and as the leader of the group if others didn’t have their $2,000 I was responsible for ensuring their $2,000 was paid. I decided not to be leader yet the church kept insisting I was the leader of the group. I gave the church a check for $50, several days later the Pastor showed up at my job and asked me to take the $50 check back and issue a check in their name. I had no idea the Pastor knew where I worked. Most Pastors are about self and not God

God also spoke to us all via the bible, God's word, which says " money is the root of all evil." These churches that concentrate on lavishness, wearing the best suits, dresses etc, pastors/pastor's wives living in the vest beautiful gomes, driving luxury cars, taking lavish vacays, eating at the nicest restaurants etc proves these types of pators/pastor's wives are closer to money than to God as they put money before God and his word. Id rather go to a more humble church, be amongst a more humble congregation that would give their last to those within their church going through tough times, that gives to their community etc because Ive been to these large, fancy type churches, pastor and pastors wife are dressed to the 9s, rely on everyone's tithes to live their dream life style as they preach the word of God, always asking for extras yet when one of their church members loses their jobs, cars and so on, they dont offer even a dime, dont offer food or anything. Most churches receive tax cuts, yet these insanely expensive churches costing millions of dollars will rarely have Gods spirit even enter due to the spirit of greed being pushed and worshipped. Churches are just buildings, structures and yes the larger the church sometimes will being a larger congregation but Ive been to tent revivals that had the spirit of God so strong that you felt God immediately upon entering these very ordinary, very plain tents.

This is why I stay away from Mega Church's, I continue to serve God from home or the little church on the corner. I give what I can, sometimes it's 10% , but most of the time it's less. When you live paycheck to paycheck, you give what you can. God is everywhere. I refuse to serve the pastors who are millionaires instead of God.

That happened when I was visiting the potters house with a coworker years ago before TD Jake’s was famous for movies and books. They had the pulpit blocked off with velvet ropes like we were at the club. The big screen projector had the names of folks who hadn’t paid their tithes. I was so embarrassed for them. I tried to sit down and the rows had ropes reserved for members who paid for those seats. I was baffled, offended and never went back. The mega churches are businesses, crooks and scams. The country church where the pastor visits you at the hospital are gone. Shameful. I wouldn’t give these demons water if they were thirsty.

Tithes are for the upkeep of the church, such as lights, heating, mortgage, insurance, etc. It isn't for personal gain. My pastor and the board of trustees issue tax statements to every member that pays tithes at the end of the year, and they give every member an itemized account of where every penny went. If a church isn't doing that, that's a red flag.🤨

The church is a 501C3 business. They are tax exempt. Which means everything they spend for the church is a tax write off. I filed my taxes this year and didn't owe anything because I could write off things such as my wi-fi, cell phone bill, gas for my car, oil changes on the car, tires etc. electricity and I also credit for using my garage as my office. No member should be tithing! The tithe was for the Levitical Priesthood in the OT. It should be a free will offering and that's it.

My girls use to attend well use too attend Pastor Henderson church..You know my daughter ask the church to help with my Chemotherapy treatment when I had breast Cancer in 2019 and they didn not even $1.. I was hurt..So I don't give my money to no church.

You can always connect with a program by Catholic Community Services. St Vincent de Paul will assist with bills, food, almost anything needed. Sad to hear about the churches you both previously attended. That's why discernment is so real! Some are willing to incur the wrath for a few tithe dollars

Alot of people don't have it. It's still areas here in Houston that are still recovering from Beryl. 1 million plus households (me included) had to purchase new groceries as our food spoiled in our refrigerators, freezers, and deep freezers with the extended power outages. Between this and the inflation that we are experiencing, I don't know who will willing give $2,100. This might spark an exodus from the church.
