Shavettes #2 - RazoRock Switch, B&M Fougere Angelique, WCS Synthetic, Fine Fresh Vetiver 

I've been one of the more vocal commentators on Fougere Angelique. I think it is one of the most beautiful scents I have sampled since I began wet shaving. I came home from a visit to Maggards in November with samples of the soap and splash, and my wife loved it. I just haven't worked up the nerve to lay down $50+ dollars for the set. And yes, The Stallion is absolutely the man! Great video!

I just shaved with a Crown King Bone Handle Scales Shavette last night and wow what a close shave! You are looking very confortable with that razor, awesome. Great video! Thank you.

Great shave! Fourgere Angelic is a fantastic spring/summer offering. I ended up getting a tub of this as well. Looking forward to seeing those Stallion Straights in use!

Good shave Chris! I have both the Fougere Angelique and Gothique, and both of them are amazing in there own way, although I admit, they were quite pricey. They were birthday presents to me, or I probably wouldn't own them. But I'm glad I do, because they are definitely some of my all-time favorite shave soaps, especially for Fougeres. Nice shave Chris, you’re looking good with the switch 😌👍 I’ve always thought shavettes are very efficient, but I’m sure other people can use safety razors more efficiently than me. There’s no denying Anthony’s contribution to the interest in straight razor shaving. He is colourful and he does have some interesting opinions, and just like with everyone who has clear ideas, some you agree with, some you don’t, but that’s the way it should be.😌

Hey Chris... Great video! It was me who emailed you recommending this scent as well as the cashmere synthetic knots (especially the cashmere fan knot from Turn N Shave). I’m really happy to see you enjoying this scent/soap as well as the cashmere knot. When I find myself having certain scents/products in common with others, it makes it much easier to pick a winner. Based on some of the citrus scents you enjoy, I was pretty sure you’d enjoy this... I didn’t know if you’d pull the trigger though because of the cost. To me, this scent is absolutely beautiful... It’s strange because I find it to be one of B&Ms top scents but I rarely see this soap in videos or SOTDs.. maybe it’s because of the price? It certainly is expensive and I wasn’t happy initially taking the chance purchasing it, but once I received it, I was certainly happy I bought it! Now I just need to get the AS... Last I checked Maggard still had a lot in stock, so I’ll be getting the AS at some point. Btw, you’ve helped pick some winners for me also, most recently was GN’s Kanpai.. I love that scent and soap, just used it today, in fact.... It was your video and enthusiasm for that scent which intrigued me. As always, appreciate the content!

I was not much for the straight configuration of the switch. I agree, it was a lot of work with the angle. I prefer shavettes for that style of shaving. Glad you liked the soap. It is always great when you get a winner. Which did you enjoy more, Nordost or Angelique? Nordost is very one dimensional, but such a great orange. Steve

I have a sample of Fougere Angelique coming, but for the sake of my wallet, I hope I don't like it. Have you had a chance to try B&M Le Grand Chypre? IIRC you did not care for B&M Citricuya so much because it was too green.

Smooth shave! Love fougère ! But fougère fragrances can be very different.

It seems Barrister and Mann scents are very polarizing. I appreciate it that they do take chances. I have the Lyssa soap and I love it but a lot of people really seem to dislike the scent. I have both the Lyssa and Nordost soap and like them both. I really want to try the Fougere Angelique. Hopefully it will still be in stock come payday.

Great shave Chris! If the Maggard meet does happen at the end of May, it is on my list of soaps to buy. I want the set and ordering online, I don't think Maggard would ship the splash to Canada. Prices... currently, with the value of the canadian dollar, buying American products will be reduced a little. I ordered the new collaboration PAA/TOC, Northern Albion and the soap is sold for 31$ canadian... it's going to be time to fall in love again with canadian artisans.

Great shave, Chris. Just close enough to the blood! Other Chris loves the Fougere Gothique, but he gets a hard time from his wife when he uses it.

I've been trying to find a replacement for the TOBS Jermyn Street scent for quite a while because the soap isnt slick enough for my face and Angelique seems like the best contender, if it wasnt for the price that is. Have you ever tried a similar scent to those two? I'd call them lemon/lime forward fougeres.

Before Covid-19, I almost bought some feather kamisori and artist club scaled knockoffs from AliExp. Just for funsies as I already have the AC blades. Always thought the razorine looked cool, same with this RR Switch! Stay healthy and safe everyone, Peace!

The hit and miss with B&M, same here man. Luckily they always have samples on maggard.

Straight handle DE razor with a pivot head. I like "training wheels" for straight shaving.

I’ll try a sample of Fougere Angelique when Maggards makes more, based on your take since I know you dislike dark scents. I love fougeres and have some edgy B&M offerings, but I bought a sample of the Fougere Gothique and it sickens me. it smells the devil wearing cheap cologne as a cover-up that doesn’t cover. The warlock in Rosemary’s Baby would have worn it. I don’t get how anyone can stand it, Cris included. But thanks for this review, Chris.

I have a razorine and find it hard to go east to west on my neck. And the videos I do see of them the person only goes north to south then south to north on the neck

Nice shave Chris. I don't think this switch razor has any similarities with a shavette, completely different. The shavette needs a lot more concentration or else you're cut. The switch is with blade guards and they protect you. I have two questions. There's a other similar razor to the switch razor, it's the Italian razorine. I would like to see a side by side comparison with the switch and razorine. And the question is how does it shave as standard de razor? I mean is it mild? Chris straights are the best shave. They give the closest irritation free shave. Straights have a long thick blade compared to the shavettes which use half de blades with the corner of the blade being naked. Shavettes are way more dangerous than the straights. The straights are great, but the thing that keeps me away is the stropping and honing. You either will have to send it out to get honed or learn to do it yourself. Keep safe.
