Shout out to you girl for being brave and real about cutting your hair. On my natural hair journey, I haven’t did any weave. I do braids here and there during the summer. Keep rocking it naturally girl! You got this
Thanks for your honesty. It feels like a lonely journey trying to figure out what to do when experiencing hair loss. Shifting the focus to healthy hair will make a huge difference ~ that's what I hope (for you and me)!
washing your hair every three to five days may actually be better. I found that on my natural hair journey, washing my hair more often was like watering a plant. It started growing like weeds.
@@54andcounting17 right, I meant co-washing and then moisturizing. Let the conditioner sit on the hair and then only one rinse. I should have been more specific.
I used to shampoo my hair once a week (or two), and I realised it was not enough no matter my haircare routine. My hair (scalp) need to be washed 2 times per week like my mom used to do on me when I was little...
So glad I found this channel ❤️ I got COVID19 and was pregnant last yr and spent 3 months in the hospita and almost died on the vent (2 months I was in a coma) After coming home and not having my hair did for 3 months and postpartum hair shedding, ALL my hair fell out in 1 month. I had 3yrs of long BSL natural hair and every stand was gone. I was completely bald. My had was smooth🥺. I was diagnosed with alopecia afterwards. I've been growing my hair back out since December. I've notice a texture change and it growing way slower. I'm doing was n goes 2x a week, daily scalp oil massage, moisture every day and hair vitiamans. I'm going to have my crown back December 2022😃🙌🏽🙆🏽♀️
I got covid too and the media does not tell you that the side effects effect you more than covid itself and they stick with you even after you’re negative 🥴 keep doing what you’re doing and in December 2022 your hair will be flourishinggg
@@tamithecreator I have been doing my hair from braids to weaves, to scarves at work and wigs for yrs. Now. I am 68 yrs young. Is there any hope for me ??
I honestly struggled with thinning and painful edges for 5 years. Relaxing my hair during childhood and braiding really impacted my hair health. I went to see a dermatologist that advised me to take meds, but I eventually kept forgetting to take them. One day I woke up tired of having pain by even touching my front edges and realised the hair strands were very split. I decided to shave the front part of my hair BALD. It looked horrible at first (no joke HAHAHA) but then the hair started growing back thick and healthy after the first 3 weeks. I don't regret my crazy move at all. Peace yall ✌️
You truly are being VERY vulnerable. A lot of women go through this. I could never expose myself like this. Good luck to you sweetheart, you are a brave and beautiful woman 👍🏾
Hello everyone, make sure to get blood work done because vitamin deficiency slows hair growth and can contribute to hair breakage. A healthy diet with lots of water and sleep helps and does wonders. Take vitamins, vitamin A especially. Also incorporate gelatin into your diet. I also pray to GOD over my hair and it’s working. 🙏🏽❤️ I’m excited for you Luv
I just did the same thing!! All my edges fell out!! I did the same with perming my hair and it my hair fell out more!! I was devastated! So I literally shaved my hair like you did about a month ago! It’s growing so nice and I’m so so relieved to be starting over with my natural hair. You look beautiful and take your time it will grow.❤️
@@tamithecreator any hair grease and conditioner, make sure you wash it every day with that buzz cut and get some triple antibiotic ointment and Benadryl cream to your head to not have bumps or razor bumps, been there did what you are doing. your hair and scalp will thank youuuu. also get you some sulfate 8hair grease switch out every 2-4 months between the yellow and blue.
@@mssan2016 yes my edges is growing back a lot! They actually have grown in all the way. I been using shea moisture black Jamaican line. That’s the shampoo, conditioner, the leave in.I’m using the leave in to moisturize my hair with I also add a oil after the leave In sometimes. And I’m wearing wigs until it gets a little longer.I stopped using the combs on the wigs,I think they caused my edges to fall out.I rub the leave in on my edges everyday.
I have had alopecia too twice and as a woman who is over half a century my hair is growing back ever so slowly and is not as full ie dense as it was in my youth, but at least its growing. My advice to younger ladies is not to do too much manipulation as it does get to a stage where so many folicles die off and the hair gets thinner. I wish all this natural hair love happened when i was in my 20's and 30's as my hair would have thrived better. I am making the best of what I have now. I did some videos on my journey too:)
Sis, loving this video and your transparency! This is the real real! I can totally relate to this video. Unfortunately, there are a lot of ladies out there wearing weaves/braids etc while our natural hair is damaged or dying underneath! I just chopped off all my hair yesterday! I’m excited about the healthy hair process! Thanks for this vid! Absolutely helpful!
Yesssss centimeters! Lol The doo gro helped my actual hair grow but the sides of my hair are struggling. I’m starting a new product this week that Ima using specifically on my edges and will do an update in 2 months.
😣 Please do not wear those “protective “ styles anymore. They might permanently damage the follicles if continued. Idc if the hair is short as long as it’s natural.
Thanks for sharing, alot of us in this position. Shaved mine two years ago and now growing locs, my hair's much happier. Wanna put out there that there are some types of alopecia you cannot regrow your hair from, they call them the scarring alopecias. With scarring alopecias the follicle the hair grows from is destroyed or filled with scar tissue. Once that's happened no hair can grow from that follicle regardless of what you put in it. I incurred this type of alopecia in my mid 20's, over a decade ago. I promise you I spent alot of time money and hope trying nearly all products in the comments and then some. I know dermatologists are expensive if you don't have insurance but if you're on the third or fourth growth product/supplement and you're not seeing growth, I strongly recommend going to a dermatologist and getting a scalp biopsy. You can't always see the difference in scarring alopecias and other alopecias with the naked eye, this is why you need to have a dermatologist or trichologist look at your scalp tissue. They will tell you if your alopecia is reversible/manageable or what your options are if you can't grow it back. I only share this to save someone several rounds of false starts/hope and money down the drain trying to fix something that can't be fixed because they won't go to a doctor.
Thank you! I need to elaborate on this in my next video. I’m using these products a try then going to the dermatologist after a year but I wouldn’t want someone who’s ‘too far gone’ to try these products & have false hope. Thanks for your comment
when i big chopped castor and vitamin e oil were my best friends. i’m happy the products you’re using now combined with your new regimen are working well so far!
Girl!! It’s crazy what happened to your hairline 😬😬😬 I just shaved my hair because I do so every 3 months, but that shower 🚿 post haircut!!! Best feeling in the world!!!
Girl i understand what your going through!! I suffer from alopecia as well.. ive had it over the years.. its been a struggle but i know it will get better! Yesterday i decided to just cut my hair off because it kept on shedding alot and coming out in chunks!! So i said to myself : Im not going to let this rule me.. so i had shaved it ALL OFF no regrets!! I love it!! I love ur cut too!! Its very beautiful.. 💕💕💕💕❤️

Shaving your head is best. I had a bald spot on my left side from pulling my hair too tight. I did an undercut to help (my hair was long), and last year I shaved it all off, including the long hair. Proud to say I have hair growing in that spot. It looks like I have a thinning spot, but on closer inspection, I have white hair growing so it kind of looks like I still have a bald spot. My hair is also growing in thicker.
Yes doo gro does work to hair back hair because it growing my hair back in the front of my hair where there are bald spots at and growing my hair long again like it use to be iam so happy your hair is growing back ❤
My heart hurt when I saw you cut your hair off yet the more you caught cut the more your beautiful face shined you are pretty!!! I pray your hair grows long and healthy God bless you stay safe because you are beautiful just the way you are naturally beautiful thank you for your video
I shaved my hair today 3/3/23 the back of my head hair is growing out finer then the rest of my hair 🥺🥺 BUT FIRST OF ALL I HAVE MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS, I HAVE A BALL SPOT ON MY UNEVEN EDGES UMMM I COULD GO ON 😢😢😢😢😢
You look beautiful-your eyes really pop now. Praying for a fruitful and healthy hair journey for you. I think I might be struggling with some tension alopecia myself, and it’s scaring me because I have always had beautiful hair.
It’s tough but with patience, the right hair products and protective styles I’m sure you’ll grow your edges back. Your hair is still beautiful you’re just in a transitional phase right now 🥹
18 packs of hair is CRAZY! Especially with those size braids. Isn’t it usually 4-6packs? Your braids were probably way too heavy. I’m sorry you had to go through that
YOUR HAIR IS GROWING BACK VERY NICELY THICK AND HEALTHY AGAIN. I SHAVED MY RELAXED HAIR I HAD OVER 20+YRS AND HAS SIMILIAR ISSUES YOU TALKED ABOUT. I BOUGHT ALL THOSE PODUCTS EXCEPT THE DOO GROO WHICH I WILL GET SOON. YOUR UPDATE IS AMAZING AND I WISH YOU A BLESSED #2022 HEALTHY HAIR JOURNEY. YOU LOOK GORGEOUS AS EVER!!!
We black, Hispanics and Native American women are cursed. The only way you can break this curse. Is come back to your original heritage and that’s keeping God’s commandments. Isaiah 3:16 Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: Isaiah 3:17 Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts. Isaiah 3:18 In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon, Isaiah 3:19 The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers, Isaiah 3:20 The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings, Isaiah 3:21 The rings, and nose jewels, Isaiah 3:22 The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins, Isaiah 3:23 The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails. Isaiah 3:24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
I LOVE the honesty of this video, because many of us are doing some if not ALL of what this fabulous young woman posted. Thank you for sharing your struggle, and for your honesty for your responsibility in it. Congratulations on your new hair, and I’m sure you’ll be back in business soon!😊
For one. Your hair is over processed and that within itself will cause it to shed drastically and by the handfuls. I suggest, keeping prosthetic hair out for awhile. Your hair needs to breath. A lot of women don’t understand that healthy hair needs air to grow. Your hair is beautiful. Just leave out all the wigs, lace fronts etc., coming from a licensed cosmetologist and master barber. ❤
I applaud you! I did what you did about 5 years ago……I couldn’t take the breaking, the bald spots and the amount of money I was spending on continuing to destroy my hair! I shaved my head all over with a 1/2 guard. I felt free! I used black castor oil, and avocado once a week. For 12 months…..my hair is to my shoulders, all one length! Keep your head up! You are beautiful!
@@tamithecreator I’m so happy for you! I sat down and added up what I spent on my hair over a year’s period…..it was ridiculous! Don’t you just love how your hair feels now? I’m routing for you! Keep it up!
The best you did. I do follow an alopecia doctor here on RU-vid and he said that short hair is in less risk of alopecia, and a short cut could help a lot, I did too cut my long hair on January and now is growing a lot and no spots. I am taking certain vitamins and using a special hair products too. Good luck 😉 in your journey.
@@flourgirl08 The channel is in Spanish and is called Escuela de alopecia Dr Oscar Muñoz, maybe you can use English sub, and the vitamins I am taking are Complex B , Zinc, Iron, Vit D and Magnesium, also from my experience, complicated hair routines are bad for the health of scalp and hair, what it works for me was use shampoo, conditioner and argan oil occasionally and nothing else. Hope it helps.
Your testimony shall help soooo many people! I am believing you shall have long , beautiful hair which is your glory from the Lord!!!😇🤗😇 1Corinthians 11:15
I fully support cutting it off if it’s not making you feel good. I have done this several times and not once have I had regrets. Go girl!! ♥️♥️♥️ Sending love for your new journey.
You look cute with a buzz cut. I was thinking about doing the same thing, but I changed my mind. I have very healthy hair , but it was getting long and becoming a hassle to deal with. I did cut it but, not quite as short as yours.
I could cry 😭 I’m 4C as well, with Sisterlocks since 2014 and a chemical burned bald spot that started at 11 yo that has gotten worse and larger over the years. My locs cover it but I’m so tired of being limited. I’m tired of being self conscious about styling and I’m ready to cut it but I’ll have to go bald because of my damage. Thank you for doing this
Same here I have a hair picking disorder in which I cut my side and back hair uncontrollably which caused me to have bald spots so I shaved my head but I didn’t know this hair picking thing was a thing so I kept on pulling my hair and I have bald spots again😭 but yeah I’m intentionally fighting it and going to shave again
It's just hair and if it's not healthy no need to keep it because it will grow back healthier than ever,I have natural hair and I would cut it all off twice a year because when it gets to a certain length I can't do anything with it I just don't have the energy (50 years old with bad health issues) but just Kno Everytime you cut it off the texture change good luck and it's good to see black women choose healthy hair over bad damage long hair good luck oh and I use sufler 8 it's great for your scalp
10 yrs ago I'm on the bus. An older very voluptuous BLK woman I'm sitting next to with my daughter noticed my daughter's bald edges told me to mix up this solution. Dawn dish soap 1 table spoon 🥄🥣 and two table spoon of blue magic grease. Get a toothbrush 🪥 dip it in the mixture and gently brush only the balded areas very softly. Wash the hair with any conditioner not shampoo Pantene she preferred add your moisturizer Pink oil she preferred and then lightly pat dry your hair with a towel wrap your hair up at night do it for a month you will have enough hair in your bald areas. This is for ppl who edges came out from the hair being too tight. I'm not sure if it works on other conditions but it worked for me daughter.
You are sooooo amazing . Great raw video that will help us all. We live and learn. I like how you were real with yourself when you stated what you did at every stage of your journey. Stay beautiful. The best is yet to come .
I can’t get heavy braids around my perimeter. Idc how much I oil it. It always tangles and will snap off. My hair is very fine around the perimeter. It happens in the front, back, and sides. Single braids are not a good protective style for me.
French braids are a better protective style for me. Plenty of water fresh fruits and vegetables always grows it back. What I put in my body makes a bigger difference than what I put on my hair. My hair does like to be washed and does better with heat only after my wash routine. Wrapping it or rollers helps too. Good luck.
You look amazing! I did the same in 2006. It is bold way to start over. Keep massaging your scalp and the length will come. Eat right, drink water, and limit your stress. Stay fabulous!
Thank for your transparency. You are so brave and beautiful! I am confident your edges will grow back like your hair is now. Just be consistent with the routine you’ve planned. But my advice is to wash your hair at least weekly until your hair is thriving. Hair loves water and a clean scalp. Blessings!
Definitely gonna try this. I just shaved my hair bald cz of traction alopecia. I’m glad I bumped into this video. 2023, we’re doing this right. Thanks siz 😌😊
It seems like braids are a huge stressor for hair. Sew ins and leave ins plus heat all seem a recipe for disaster. 4c hair is so awesome imo. But it also seems a lot of work to be all natural 🤔. I love your buzzcut and hope your hair recovers💕
I am really interested to see how you get on. They say clove water helps bald spots you may need the extra help your edges. As the products you're using are so heavy if it were my hair, I would wash once a week to make sure my pores stay unclogged.
100% agree. I would rather wash once every 4-6 weeks but since the products are so heavy I wash every 2 weeks. I used to hate wash day but it’s a lot easier with 1 inch of hair lol
@@tamithecreator I can't wait for your updates. For wash day don't follow all the nonsense online just detangle with oil. Wash hair, condition or deep condition and then seal. My wash day is so fast and I love it.
I’m so glad I came across your video. I watched three times and went and got clippers and shaved my head last night. It’s hair, it will grow back. I tried to deep condition my way back to healthy hair. It just didn’t work for me. If my head THOUGHT my hand was going to touch it, hair would break off. Now I’m just going to take it 6 months at a time for length checks as just take better care of it. ❤️❤️
Wearing Weave isn't a bad thing but one thing I've seen in women who wears weave over years your edges seems to thin out so women embrace your natural hair it's a beautiful thing.
I totally relate. I have pcod and it affect my hair so badly . Having pcod alopécia . my edges are paying the prize for the ovaries malfunction. For those with PCOD you know what am talking about . It’s a struggle . This video just encouraged me to go in sane journey . Am gonna cut it all down.
Love your story! Thank you for the fearless transparency. Glad to see the 6 week progress- fabulous. Due to the heavy nature of your combined mix & frequency of your wash day, you might want to consider exfoliating your scalp to ensure that you get the buildup off. A healthy scalp will ensure your continued progress. I wish you well on this journey.
Use rosemary water on your hair daily before the oils. It will help your edges come back faster and fuller. My sister had the same issue with hers. I made her rosemary water every week and now she's got hair to her shoulders and she shaved her head just like you did.
You don't look bad with short hair though. I like both looks with long and short hair. You are still beautiful! I wish I could do short, my head too big though.
I saw your other comment DO IT!!!!! It feels so weird but it’s so worth especially when you see an inch of healthy hair growing in. I look crazy bald but I don’t regret it one bit lol
Why didn't you show the front? Your problem areas were your edges not the back of your head, so please help me understand why didn't you show the progression of your edges. The most problematic area which also was the main purpose for the video.
I love your beautiful smile, face and spirit! Your hair is definitely flourishing. Thank you for sharing this journey. Many of us have the same issues but have suffered alone. I've seen this recipe before but wasn't sure because I know Sulfur 8 is "smelly" but I'm here for it. I'm growing my coily cute curls with you😃🦋🌼🌹🎀
You are a sweetheart! It’s hard putting myself out there knowing I’ll get judged but I’m glad I’m not going through this alone. Also the sulfur 8 mix definitely smells but it does the job 😩 thank goodness the smell doesn’t seep through my wigs lol 🥴
My grandmother never wanted our hair relaxed because of relaxers' damaging results. When I moved to the U.S. as a preteen, my mom who is also not a fan of relaxers used it on our hair because it was convenient at the time (2012). My short 4C hair was devasted. So in 2014, my dad gave me a good chop. When I got the chop, my hair grew and I started braids in my college year (2017). The problem? I made the edges too tight. I got these crochet install curls from Amazon last year, and when I took them out, the hair I called hopeless, grew. I couldn't believe it. I didn't follow through after that. I also applied heat, which caused the MAJOR damage. TBH, I did not moisturize my hair much. Last month, I got so fed up with my hair’s mixed textures and dryness that when I comb, chunks would fall out. When I did ablution wiping over my hair, hair fell out. Last month, after another chop, my hair was still falling out, so I wanted to chop off more, but I shaved the entire thing off. I had a lot of mixed emotions when I did it. My mom was heartbroken when I showed her my bald head.
Subbed and here for it. Came up up in my recommendations. That was very brave and humble of you to share your story of how you got traction alopecia. Thank you. 🙏🏾
Been there. Done that. I totally understand where you're coming from. Yes Love, your hair will grow back stronger than before. God Bless You So Much ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Wow!!!! Amazing that u have done that to your hair I know it was hard to go through the process because we all believe that we have to have long hair to be beautiful instead of healthy recently it came out in the news that straightening your hair with hair perms etc causes cancers and there's a lawsuit if u have uterine cancers to call." Posted on: December 28, 2022 Study Shows Likely Connection Between Hair Straightening Chemicals and Uterine Cancer A recent study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute and conducted by the National Institutes of Health has discovered an increased risk of uterine cancer among people that use hair straightening chemicals or relaxers. Frequent users of chemical relaxers were more than twice as likely to go on to develop uterine cancer compared to the general population who do not use hair relaxers. The study defined a frequent user as one who treated their hair with chemical straighteners or relaxers at least four times a year. Keep in mind that black women have a much greater risk of developing endometrial cancer, the most common form of uterine cancer. Medical researchers were puzzled for decades why uterine cancer rates were so disproportionately high among black women. It turns out, black women are not predisposed to uterine cancer or ovarian cancer. In fact, even the recent study did not reflect that a relationship between uterine cancer incidence and hair relaxer use was different by race. Rather, black women are disproportionately impacted due to the prevalence of using chemical hair straightening products. Hair Straighteners Contain Cancer-Causing Chemicals The endocrine-disrupting chemicals in hair straightening or hair relaxer products are now believed to be a likely cause as a result of the above-referenced study published by the National Cancer Institute. At a very minimum, these chemicals have been shown to cause adverse health effects. Chemical hair straightening products are used primarily to help style curly or wavy hair by breaking down its structure and are often used repeatedly to maintain the effect which is now believed to put many users at risk for uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, and uterine fibroids resulting in a hysterectomy. Most specifically, the risk of developing uterine cancer has now been firmly linked to hair straightener use. If you have been diagnosed with uterine cancer, please reach out to us right away at 833-552-7274. First Hair Relaxer Lawsuit Filed Over the past month, a number of hair relaxer lawsuits have now been filed. The first hair straightening lawsuit was filed by Jennifer Mitchell, in the United States Federal Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Her lawsuit alleges that exposure to phthalates and other endocrine-disrupting chemicals in hair relaxers she consumed, lead to her developing endometrial cancer at age 28. In turn, she underwent a full hysterectomy before her 3oth birthday. Thus, her lawsuit blames hair relaxers for her uterine cancer. While this may have been the first hair straightening lawsuit to be filed, a slew of others was not far behind. Chemical Hair Straightener Uterine Cancer Lawsuit Hair products are supposed to meet the rigorous safety standards expected of cosmetic products to avoid these dangerous effects. Consumers should expect their hair products to be safe for use and present a danger to one’s health. However, possible cancer-causing (carcinogenic) chemicals such as these, can be the grounds on which one can file a chemical hair straightener lawsuit to seek compensation for damages they suffered. the best hair routine I got is to wash my hair only with conditioner...and then I wash after 20 minutes...every 2 weeks and it.made my hair so soft and grew like crazy..
Literally MY LIFE STORY!!!!! So happy for you ! I wish you the best 💕 you’re going to love you’re natural hair journey. There’s tough days as far as how to style it when your everyday was a 22 Inch weave lol but its sooooo worth it. You go girl !!! 😍I check my new growth every morning 😂..uugh but I got excited to finally have some length and started dying it 😒. Keep your ends healthy and I wish you the best ! Thanks for sharing 🥂✨
Did a big chop in February my hair is on my shoulders now. I just dyed my hair today too😅😭 try to use aphogee 2 step protein treatment, aloe vera or other deep conditioners etc. Just add back in the moisture and protein your hair should stay healthier, I alternate between treatments and deep conditioning when I wash my hair.
Thank you for mentioning how protective style such as braids aren't always so protective. We have to make sure our own hair can withstand the weight of the braids, the kankelon ( i think i spelled it correctly, lol) fibers, which is sort of like super thin plastic isn't breaking the real hair on top of maintaining moisture and everything else. Thanks again chick
I did the exact same thing!!! Thanks for sharing 😅I stopped the weaves & braids and leaving it alone just wash, condition & low tension low maintenance non interesting styles. Best wishes ❤
I don’t shave my head but I was have my hair in my knees 😭 I cut it up until almost neck! Because alopecia traction! I’m hispanic with wavy hair please don’t do ponytails, braids! 😭😭😭😭😭
Great decision. My story is your story. Go o a dermatologist now like me because you are young and you’re scalp need additional medical help n your hair will thrive. Inflammation cause that type of pattern alopecia especially if you notice they are growing in still thin.. You have a beautiful face and with or without hair.
@@tamithecreator your welcome. Just don’t wait too long to go to the dermatologist. From what I understand when your hair has been traumatized by hairstyles like mine it’s best to do it when it happens. They can help reverse it much quicker with their Medicated topicals. Honestly, I try so many over-the-counter medications for years and it never worked and now I’m finally going to a dermatologist. I’m hoping it’s not too late.
You have an even beautiful shaped head so you are blessed. Your hair will grow back healthy. That was brave and I hope others listen to the warning. You got this and it's growing already
