AWESOME Video! Thank you! No offense to the women soap makers, but THIS is a dude's arena, and you've explained why one would use a specific ingredient which is incredibly helpful! Thank you!

Great video for showing how shave soap process differs from CP bar soap

I have a similar recipe but no lard instead I use beef tallow and no stearic acid and in place I use soy wax . My hunny wants one with beer next time. But I love that you gave two options instead of just one for palm-free, vegan soapers.

I have just discovered your RU-vid channel and am loving ALL the videos I have watched thus far.. However I have to say this is definitely my favorite! I have yet to make a batch of shave soap that I am happy both, both in process and results, and had given up for awhile, quite awhile. But your teaching is wonderful and definitely makes me want to try again, so much so that I have ordered the ingredients that I need but do not have on hand. Thank you so much!

HI! Nice recipe, why you don't add bentonite and tussah silk to recipe, to get better blade slippage?
@QueerBullSoap
@QueerBullSoap 10 месяцев назад
Silk helps to make a bar feel luxury on the skin - but the area of the face is being scrubbed with a brush in effect - and I always ask whether an ingredient adds significant properties to a bar. With my recipe bentonite tends to affect the lather so I don’t use it

I think this is the recipe that I've been 'looking for'! How long do you leave the soap to cure for before it can be used?
@QueerBullSoap
@QueerBullSoap 2 месяца назад
@@shirleyedwards1490 because it’s a hot process recipe the finished soap is essentially usable out of the pot but I always cure for about 4 weeks as I think this helps with the final lather and longevity of the product

Thank you so very much for the recipe, and thorough tutorial! I made a batch today, sized up slightly with soapcalc. I did have a issue with the batter being much thicker than yours in the video. Are there any tricks to getting a more fluid batter so that it will go into the mold as beautifully as yours did? Would there be an issue with increasing the water to lye ratio?

Once it reaches vaseline stage in the pot it's saponified.

@@QueerBullSoap yes sir. Less bubbles and more lather..
@QueerBullSoap
@QueerBullSoap 7 месяцев назад
For shave soaps you need to have a little more understanding of the fatty acid profiles. You need to use steric acid - steric fatty acid is the stable thick lather creator. Avoid too much oleic, linoleic and linolenic acid profiles as these will kill the lather. Palmetic helps stabliase and gives a creamy lather and lauric and myristic acid cause more volume or fluffy lather. So tweak your recipe to include more steric and palmetic fatty acid profiles an use no more than 5% Castor (Ricinoleic acid) this adds moisture and support a stable later but too much will weight it down. Hope that helps
