I was a nurse years ago, and I can tell you that from my experience working in the field that it is very political, and almost as childish as high school. In the way that you have to be careful about who you piss off. Rumors kill careers, and a lot of back stabbing goes on. The patients best interest isn't at the forefront. If people really knew all the crap that goes on behind the scenes, they would never go to the doctor, clinic or hospital again.

I have to make a comment on that statement. First and foremost you are correct. It just so happens I am the father of a veterinarian and also the father-in-law of another veterinarian so one daughter married one and one became one. The veterinary business is no different in that they want the most expensive treatments and medicines available and, like humans, they have a pill, paste or a shot for everything. Here's what my daughter told me, most dogs health problems are from their diet. They are fed 100% processed foods every day of their lives (sound familiar?) Most ailments can be cured by putting them on a meat diet like they have been on thousands of years, and they will return to good health. This costs the veterinary pharma a lot of money and they don't like to hear it. Also too, veterinarians get kickbacks for each prescription they prescribe from a company as an incentive to treat medically instead of by diet.@@pooheadlou

Some of the nastiest people I've met are nurses. I couldn't believe one nurse who was smiling and making fun of my family when we trained to take him home on a vent. This nurse was hostile and seemed offended that people "dared" to take a proactive, but respectful interest in honoring my loved ones wishes to bring them home. It haunts me how nasty this nurse was, and how much delight she seemed to take in suffering.

@pennyzee5975
@pennyzee5975 6 месяцев назад
@@mavrosyvannah We were not making a mistake. An agency trained us and we were out of options at that point. This nurse regularly gossiped about patients and other staff. My loved one ultimately died before we could get him home due to a bed sore caused by "care" in the ICU. The facility treated sepsis 4 days AFTER I alerted the nurses and MD that my relative was shivering, complaining of cold, and more pain. You have no idea what you speak of. A lot of these facilities leave patients on vents and don't regularly check in on them. My "deadly" mistake was thinking the trained staff could and would take better care of my loved one than we could.
@pennyzee5975

@@mavrosyvannah Further it was not a nervous laugh. We'd never even met this nurse before. She took delight in adding "a wrench" in our plans to get our loved one him. Many of the younger nurses had zero idea or experience what it's like working with insurance companies, and a couple of the older nurses--like this one--seemed preoccupied with gossip. To this day, I cannot even wrap my head around how disgusting this nurse behaved and wouldn't even trust her with a pet cat.

I've worked in elder care. I have seen this before. It always comes down to money, bureaucracy and not being sued. Dr Westman said that patients that did not get entirely fixed by his approach (keto) did in fact get them fixed with carnivore. This, my friends, is a sure sign of intelligence and great human qualities. I’ve seen persons resort to a lot of craziness to avoid being proven wrong. This type of action comes as no surprise. I'm Canadian, and the Colleges (College of Physicians & Surgeons vs. medical board) have an even tighter control. So many doctors have been struck off (or retired young) since 2019; those who refuse to play the game. But if you're dedicated to healing, and just a regular doc, you HAVE to play that game if you want to continue to help people. Some of the protocols are mind-blowing, and many people suffer because of them. Thank you for your pioneering work in this field. A junior doctor, fresh out of medical school signed off... he was from another country and he knew, that he was on his flight home if he did not sign off. The gastroenterologist saw me before the surgery for literally 30 seconds, when his pager went off and he said:" Sorry here is a patient who really needs me, and he walked away This was my wakeup call, yet I was so drugged out... should have walked out of the hospital this very minute. No forces on earth will ever get me into a hospital again. The medical profession has lost all of its credibility. Medicine, like education, is rigorously regulated by the Federal government. Seems strange that other than a relatively few hero doctors and advocates there is little interest in pursuing low carb as public policy. I am glad we have the advantage of a increasing number of well designed studies to confirm our own experiences. We are spending literally billions on saving us from climate change, but absolutely nothing on protecting us from sugar, processed seed oils and highly processed carbohydrates. I would like to see a chart on a projection of how many people will die from climate change versus unhealthy diets over the next 20 years. Voters need to wake up.

My best friend for 10 years was a doctor in LA. He experienced exactly the same thing as Dr Baker. He would rarely recommend surgery as a treatment, unless it was absolutely necessary. The hospital administrator came to him one day and told him he needed to recommend more surgeries, because that is how the hospital earned the most money. My friend Brad, refused. A few month's later, he was "demoted" by his superiors and was reassigned to a smaller hospital owned by the same company in the northern CA. That is the sickness of American Healthcare... it's all about profit, they could care less about people's lives. Edited... that is why I moved to Europe when I retired. I have free health care here.

How is it free? Who pays the surgeons? Where do they get the money to pay the surgeons? Maybe you don't pay for your own surgery, but you pay for everyone else's surgery. That doesn't make it free.

@@beefbased89 I see you know little about healthcare in Europe. The EU governments pay for everyone's medical care with money they collect in taxes. The governments also set the prices for drugs, medical procedures, and hospital costs. Unlike the US where big pharma, insurance companies, and hospitals set the prices. For example, monthly insulin costs in the US are 3 to 4 times higher than in the EU. EpiPens cost $650 in the US. They cost €69 in the EU. A hospital room in the US is $2,847 a day. A room in the EU is €18 a day. An Ambulance in the US costs between $1500 to $3000. In EU countries they are free.

I watch Shawn Baker. He can be a bit cocky; what surgeon can’t? So I can see why he might rub colleagues the wrong way. I prefer Dr. Westman’s personality and style. But Shawn Baker is another doctor giving people the information they need to heal themselves and that’s heroic in his case.

I'm not strict on it, I still eat frozen blue berries, fermented foods like sour kraut, cheese, home made kefir, and ground organic flax seeds.

Great interview. The medical system definitely did a bad deed to Dr Baker. Political processes move slowly even in the medical world. It’s a shame we can not objectively look at the facts to see the traditional methods only lead to continued weight gain, etc. I’m so very thankful that you and Dr Baker and the few others are asking for good studies to provide the evidence that we know to be true using the keto/carnivore lifestyle. The money trail is ugly and points to keeping the public unhealthy and dependent upon using medication for life.

The US medical board laws need to allow a parallel competitive board system that is more holistic but can also license doctors to prescribe and do surgery. The current US medical system has worse outcomes than most other countries and costs the most.

If what he is saying is true, and I have NO reason NOT to believe him, it's an utter scandal and the folks who gave him the bad reviews should be named and shamed. (That's just a gut feeling; I'm not much of a "cancel" guy.) I say this because these surgeries are very invasive and we have a crisis in this country with health care costs and expenses.

If you ever get an opportunity to examine a hospital's books. Go to oncology and invasion surgeries. That's where they make their big bucks. Once you understand this the attacks on Dr. Baker (albeit wrong) make sense. Covid should have shown everyone just how corrupt the medical profession is, putting patients health first has long since disappeared.

Most the doctors are leaving the system to actually help. 2004 (After I was born by c section, with congenital, bilateral hip dysplasia) My right hip started hurting and for years, both hips would take turns to hurt. To date, my left hip has had one surface correction, (and was meant to have a deeper socket operation, but I cancelled that) My right has had 2 surface, one brake pelvis and make socket deeper and last year a new hip entirely (then during recovery, I found the carni diet). Now don't get me wrong, I had a great experience with surgery (always do) and love the fact that I am no longer in pain. But I was never meant to have any of those surgeries, if diet and health mattered and not money. No one is. Dr Baker's original job should almost not exist unless it includes genuine injury.

The medical community should be ashamed of themselves if they took his license over carnivore promotion. What the main stream medical establishment is afraid of is us being healthy and not needing doctors anymore (this will make them less wealthy). Since I went on carnivore, my blood pressure has normalized, my acne is gone, my arthritis is gone, my body inflammation is gone (no more back pain etc...). If you read the comments of other carnivores they have cured their diseases that the main stream medical community could not with big pharma drugs. We are being lied to about diet, on purpose is my assumption. I have done keto for years without the same success as i have had with carnivore. I think most doctors are shills for big pharma at this point and nothing less. You don't cure people anymore, you give them drugs to alleviate symptoms.........that don't work as well as carnivore mind you.
