great message andi would love to hear more about that. i do not exaggerate when i say that trying to follow the 'voice' of the Holy Spirit has ruined my life and taken me now to the verge of atheism. I wish i'd had more counsel in that time. I still believe that the Holy Spirit speaks (i think) but trying to discern this is crucial to your sanity and relationship with god.
I hear you, but I don't see how a son asks for a piece of bread and the Father slips him a serpent. Have been on this journey for over 25 years, it's been rough but always works out for the Better!
This is so awesome, Shawn's teaching has so inspired me this week - I'd never listened to any of it before but it has confirmed so much that I have been trying to believe and pushing for in my own life for years. He does not ask me to chose, I already choose him. And I listen to his Spirit and obey! I don't conform to the things of this world but I have been transformed by the power of his Spirit in me!!
There is the countless testimonies of people, who didn't listen to the loving voice of The Most High and suffered the consequences for it. Honestly most christians, don't even know, what the voice of God sounds like and make decisions rooted in self will and rebellion...Sometimes, I believe these type of teachings - if taken one sided - feed rebellion, more than increase faith to obey the voice of God - in the most difficult circumstances. The good news is - we only prophesy in part and know in part. Good word my brother!

0:17 - it kind of confirms what I suspected. We are co-heirs with Christ. We are also co-authors with Him with regards to life on earth. A lot of things are unwritten, but God allows us to choose. On one side, people think they write their own life story. On the other side, people think God writes everything for them. I am of the suspicion that it is somewhere in the middle, that God is like our spouses. We are married (to Christ), so we do stuff together. We talk it through, and we do it together.
God's voice is demanding. He gives you missions and assignments you must follow and obey, and if you don't listen he will speak louder and more demanding to get your attention. he isn't just "love" Now God has his demanding and loud voice which shakes the whole room, and we can read this in Psalm 68:33, Psalm 29:3-9, Psalm 46:6, Psalm 18:13, 2 Samuel 22:14, Ezekiel 9:1. God usually uses his loud, and demanding voice when he commands something from you, or wants things done, or when he wants you to know his great glory and power. In both voices there is always a clear message, and we must be focused on him so we won’t miss it.
That's a good word, and I would agree that sometimes God's voice is loud and demanding. God is a father and fathers can be demanding at times for the good of their children. Love can sound loud and demanding if the situation requires it. All of His commandments are just that! Commands/demands. I don't think anyone would disagree that God's voice can be demanding. The problem this video / snippet is addressing, is when the ONLY voice/tone you believe God speaks with is a demanding one.
〈〈 Jeff89Fox 〉〉 the problem is people don't LOVE the demanding one. The Lord revealed to me the other day that people don't like his loud demanding voice because they don't like obedience, many people only like his "love" which comes with his still small voice. God has 2 tones - still small voice, and loud demanding voice. If you favor one over the other than you're doing it all wrong. You will experience both sometimes one over the other, but it's never bad to hear his demanding voice, it's actually good because that means he has work for you to do, and he needs you to obey.
Thank you for illustrating the importance of the 'demanding' voice of God. You do need a balance of both voices, and yes, problems come when you only have one side of a balance. If you only have the still small voice of love, you are tempted to fall into rebellion. But if you only have the demanding voice, you are tempted to fall into rejection.
This video addresses more the people that struggle primarily with rejection, not rebellion, who want to obey the voice of God in everything they do, but in response to their desire to hear God's voice more, they just hear an increasing number of demands and commands on their life without ever hearing that still small voice of love that affirms their identity in Christ and their value apart from their works. They only hear the demanding voice because the enemy has started speaking his own demands to them, but convinced the believer that every demanding thought in their head is from God. So when the believer doesn't obey every demanding thought that enters their mind, the enemy accuses their conscience for not following his commands, which aren't based in love, but fear - fear of failure.
Are you confusing a commanding voice and a demanding voice? Listen carefully to the story he gave of the woman. We can distort any statement so it's important to listen in context.
Since I started in the prophetic over 25 years ago, I noticed how much orthodox Christianity separates God from man. They create their bown confusion. Jesus prayer is answered: We are o e with the Father, He is in You. In Him you live move and have your being. The new creation has Christ all over it. No space is vacant of Christ!
"God loves to watch you choose". Where is that in scripture? The Holy Spirit told Philip to "go over to that chariot and stand by it". And, God told Ananias to "GO" and pray for Saul (Paul) so that he would receive his sight again. Many, many other examples in scripture just like this, but none that I know of where it says that God loves to watch us choose!
The first time is when God ''brought'' Eve to Adam. Basically "what do you think Adam ?" God didn't even commanded him to take the woman, instead Adam gladly took her, which brought much more honor to God Himself.
Miguel G - Do you read the bible or do you just imagine what it says? Or, have you learned your theology from the many false teachers on the internet? READ and STUDY the bible for yourself. Then, find a pastor who is teaching what you already know to be in God's Word and let that man help you to develop sound doctrine.
Dan there are so many examples of God letting us choose. Do you think God finds us boring and uninteresting enough to not like to watch us ? Read and study Psalm 139 for yourself. We are his workmanship and we were especially created in His image. Of course God does not love when we choose a bad spouse but He loves partnering with us anyway because He is also a Father and not just Creator. Who you think God to be will greatly affect the way you respond to Him.
Miguel G - It doesn't matter what I think, it only matters what God said. Nowhere in scripture does it say that "God loves to watch us choose" or "He loves partnering with us". Teach God's Word or don't teach at all! "Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly." (James 3:1)
Dan I think you are missing the point. He is trying to paint a picture of what love looks like. Love is not controlling. We are given the opportunity to choose. We are give n the opportunity to follow God in Love. You asked for a scripture of choice. Here is one of the most powerful choices I can think of.. Luke 22:42. Matthew 26:52. We get to choose to follow Christ or not. It is good to seek Gods wisdom and when he ask of us things it is best to listen. But love is not love if it is forced. Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord and he shall give you the desires of your heart. To desire is to choose so something you want. God is interested in Children not slaves. Paul said that he was compelled by Love! 2 Corinthian 5 :14
He he he. I sought God about what to study and where to go to school--and He told me, (I graduated) and I am doing nothing of the sort now. It's all in context, though, Shawn Bolz received a powerful word from Lou Engle about California calling him. Then a few years later, it was like "boom". He, along with a few other people, like the children's minister, were gone.
He's just saying that the way you chose to dress: I'll give you a better example. My family went into Academy Sports to get me a pair of Converse sneakers. I picked out a grey color and then at the last minute noticed there was a sparkly silver color Converse sneaker. My choice. Last minute, I picked the sparkly ones. That is not me. But, I have gotten more compliments, even a prophetic comparison by a prophet.
This prophet doesn't know there was a prophetic comparison. But, seriously, of all the shoes/boots/sandals/sneakers/low heels/every type of shoe I've ever owned in my life, this is the one I've gotten the most compliments on. Everywhere. I've even gotten complimented in the hospital.
