True. Definitely decent but the album and songs in general are really short. He doesn’t leave much to truly fail with the project and I think that was definitely intentional. As much as I hate his last album CHTKMY, at least he took a few artistic risks on that album like Movie Star. Here it just feels like he’s playing it safe as possible so you can’t really come away from hating the album.
Lots of people overhating it in my opinion because of the stigma Jack Harlow has. It’s a decent album with cool beats with good samples with alright lyrics, with average flows, and alright bops. 6.5-7/10 imo.
Not at all. The production was good. Flows were nice and overall it had a good pace. Some substance here and there but this was mainly a smooth listen. You can get through it without feeling like it's dragging. Very enjoyable.
It's racism and never be afraid to call that out. Literally any white rapper who makes anything black music critics tear it apart. Even when Eminem went back to his roots with a critically aclaimed Kamikaze. Post Malone got hate from charlamagne at his peak. It's racism. If every white person said lil nas x was bad and shouldn't do country. Itd be racism.
@@stgeorge5862 you're either no older than 15 or plain dumb, yes if every white person said lil nas x shouldnt do country it would be racist due to the power dynamic between lil nas x and a white person, racism doesnt work both ways because white people are not a minority. you cant be RACIST to white people you can be PREJUDICE. eminem and jack harlow are mid, he praises post malone at points, and he likes mac miller
@@stgeorge5862charlamagme is clinically insane. And Kamikaze sucked fucking ballz. Definitely not racism just biased hate for boring music. And no if everyone said nas X should stop country it would be rooted in racism but not totally racism. Not everything is racist my guy, no one is hating on these people for their skin colour. Only because of mid music
@@stgeorge5862 lol yeah white rappers are immune from criticism from black people or else it’s racism. Even though you just watched a whole video of a white reviewer agreeing with his Jack Harlow criticisms. (I love Jack Harlow, but stop trying to make yt people victims lol) black artists get criticized by Fantano all the time, is that because he’s racist?
This has been going on for years lol. Every time Shawn doesn’t worship a new white or non black rapper they start getting angry. You won’t believe there was a time when nav first started and Shawn said he didn’t like his music he was getting genuine hate comments, for nav lol.
@General Knowledge it really ain't tho. Swear yall will try to play off all this blatant hating as just "criticism." How is "making ass before the mainstream appeal" any form of criticism? I don't even fw Jack's music like that but I'm willing to give bro a chance and give credit where credit is due
Shawn Cee can't give the man his flowers, it wasn't a genre-bending, insane album but it's easily Jack's best work yet and to say he could've only gone up from his last album is cap because he coulda easily dropped another industry-banger type album with a couple hits on there and called it a day but he took a step in the right direction with this album, lots to improve still but definitely much better
Thank you. Kendrick gives you something with amazing depth and he gets shit on for it being too dense then you get a Harlow project that's just overall a smooth listen and it's just superficial. These critics looking like haters end of the day.
@@moballardful innit it’s an album that you can just listen to and enjoy it for what it is rather than expect it to be to pimp a butterfly. Shawn just came across as a cunt kept shitting on album which wasn’t even that bad.
Ambitious sounds wayyy more like a Drake track than Kanye track to me.. It's almost a carbon copy of Views, idk what sample is used in Ambitious but it is mad similar to the one on Views. Even the very beginning of the track kinda sounds similar to the beginning of You Only Live Twice off CLB
If a mediocre rapper releases something decent imma give it praise but it's when people start hating on it cause he didn't meet an unrealistic expectation or people start hating it for stupid ahh reason ofc people are going to defend it
Ik im months late but I feel like you can’t be giving thoughts on an album without glazing or overhating, I don’t see most people saying shit like he’s a great ass rapper like I myself find it an alright album, nothing crazy but like that’s it
@@itsultimate3108 it's okay to have parts you dislike but to not have ANYTHING positive to say is where bro looks like a hater. Production was sliding and the flows were nice. This isn't a ground breaking project but it slides.
@@moballardfulhe is a culture vulture thats vanilla ice 2.0 he tried to make soul with out a soul and ended up with a 4 and this is coming off a musical artist that's been doing it for years being black lets you connect with the spirits more i.e soul but everytime a white man gets close to what artistically insane they die ie Cobain Mac Miller it's a odd phenomenon I call "the oblivion"
the production was good and the rapping was decent, Shawn is focusing on the fact that the writing is bad. Not only that but the sounds and flows aren’t new or inventive, and thus don’t elevate the album to where the writing doesn’t drag it down too much.
i’m not fucking lying when i say this but when fantabo said that this was his best project to date I said “That’s a crazy thing to say” at the exact same time as shawn lol.
lmao it is his best so far though. Comparing this project to his prior ones, this one is definitely the best. That doesn't mean its a 10/10, just means it's his best work *SO FAR*
I'm kinda confused at shawn saying jack makes filler music but then back tracks his statements on kdot Mr morale saying that it was to personal an album that was full of substance so why kill jack for having lack of substance ?
@@mixtapex7319 To go out of your way to review a review of an album you already reviewed and didn't like, just to say the same criticisms...nah that's some serious hating
I kind of see where the commenters are coming from. Shawn puts too much energy and hate against a very forgettable and mediocre album. It paints him off as an obsessed hater. If it was me, I would’ve already moved on to another album.
You hit the nail on the head at 6:35 ☝💯. Jack Harlow has made being "A White Rapper" his whole persona , and that's one of the reasons I've never cared about him🤷. Eminem and Mac Miller just let their talents speak for itself and not even once did they make it about them being white , and no one questioned their spots in the music industry because of that 💁. It's so funny hearing him trying tell people that him being white isn't why he's successful when we all know that's the TRUTH. Especially since he's been feeding off of it ( he hopped on a movie called " WHITE MEN CAN'T JUMP" )how much more obvious could it get 💀😭, what does he expect people to say?!?.
@@zak6381 to be fair tho, Em was so dominant during his peak he had every right to say it and back it up. Same with Mac but Mac threw lines in there bc people were still doubting his transition of sound since they still viewed him a “frat music” when he first came up. now that there are a few prevalent white rappers since Mac has passed, it seems like a redundant message about being white when Jack just needs to just PROVE that he is a valid rapper just like Mac did when he stopped talking about him being white.

Shawn actually can’t stand Jack Harlow. His old stuff is quality, especially his 2020 EP with Out front and 2Stylish. I know he’s made some crap but to say all of it is trash is just being really upset that his 2022 was honestly mid.
Bro aint goin lie you should've waited a week or two to post this cause didn't Shawn post this.don't wanna be on dick but just don't want to lose another plug Chanel like Lojave so watch out, but anywho keep it up.just looking out for u bro bro
shawn's fine w ppl reposting his reactions to other YT content because he cant really claim ownership over him watching a video someone else owns. his beef w mojave started bc mojave went past that and uploaded other stuff like shawn's original ideas with his chat
My problem with the critique here is that it feels like people are wanting more substance, but you really don’t need it. Like I’m gang gang gang I think Harlow says all he needs to say, I understood his message the first time I listened to the song. No matter how easy you think it is to let someone go in your life, if you’ve grown up with that person and regard them as a brother, it’s not as easy as just cutting ties. It’s like ripping away a part of yourself.
Macs appeal didnt come from being white? Nah. It definitely made more white people look at his music cuz its relation. Same reason jack is so popular. He white. Got a chill voice and has a flow thats all u need cuz its rare to find a good or substantial white person who can do hiphop music well. Or well enough. You just hate for no reason this why shawn cee starting to get hated on past few years bros weird as fuck lol
As a white guy I agree with your takes on white rappers. For me I kind of hate the fact that Eminem has to come up in the conversation so much. Even though most of his stuff has been wack for years none of them even come close to his impact or skill level. And I also hate how they have to throw it out there so much like I'm supposed to care. I'm white and I can rap and I really just try not to talk about it because it's not that interesting really. Mostly because I didn't get to pick and choose who my parents were. I'm not saying suicide boys are the best ever but I kind of like how they approach the subject and just leave it alone. I always roll my eyes whenever I hear white rapper bars. How are you going to listen to something like that as a fan and say "bro this shit goes hard." It's just dumb and corny. That's all. I love your content keep up the good work
@@khailils446 how is jack trying for substance. It’s obviously he’s trying for mainstream appeal and trying for the approval from the hip hop community
Gang Gang Gang could have been better written I can't lie The idea was perfect, the execution was ass It felt empty, and it shouldn't have because it could have been so much more
i think its message was pretty clear,it feels so weird to find oout that your life long friends can do such heinous things, fantano is saying lyrics should have adrressed that how awful these criminals are acutally, but in reality, this song was never about being a moral compass, the point of the song is regardless how heinous the crime is ,you saw them and played with them since they were kids, they are almost like brothers, and now all the die for my dawgs talks seem like a big illusion
Waaaaay too much hate on Harlow here. I agreed with a lot of Shawn’s points on his review of jackman but this is over the top. He’s big enough to not have to review other critics reviews.
I agree with the point that jack is mediocre, id say more average with this project. But he is legit hating lol. Mac Miller was known for being a white frat rapper back in his blue slide park days and prior. Then he started getting more experimental and inspired with each project as he came into his own. I sure asf don't think that's gonna be Jack Harlow but you gotta give him the same chance at least. I'd also disagree that Logic is a better rapper, I think he makes better projects and Jack actually writes a little better. I also feel Jack's older music isn't bad and more interesting than what he makes now.
Mac Miller is the 2nd best white rapper Jack Harlow isn't far off but most of his stuff has been a little mediocre but Shawn is hating big time though lmao idk why
