yes sir, came to try and explain it but you nailed it!!!! The mask are who they were (mentally and physically in the past) but (like a reptile), sheds to what they have become now... I like y'alls energy and reactions, but the slipknot era goes much deeper then what you can sum up in a video...you better be ready on some marvel shit with depth to where they were and where they came from to understand this journey. they are my favorite band for a reason....for many years and more to come

So there's a little more to it than them just killing themselves in ways that scare them. It's deeper/more personal. Here's the breakdown on how this video came to be. The music and playing is with the new masks for that new album. Each band member dies in a way that is personal to them while wearing their old mask from the previous album. It is symbolism that you must identify your past demons (the devil in i), become one with that, and only then will you be able to move forward, hence why they die in the old masks. As far as the deaths themselves go. 1. Sid cannibalizes his fingers and arms (most important thing to a DJ for scratching) 2. Mick tears himself apart as a sign of isolation/not being seen 3. The scene of them stabbing to 2 guys in the wheelchairs represent the initiation of the 2 new band members into the family 4. Corey explodes himself, head mostly as most front men get a big head and he wanted to symbolize that 5. Jim wanted full body explosion 6. Craig gets attacked by a dog because his dog is great 7. Chris got torn into by birds as he has a fear of birds 8. Shawn hung and burned himself, he felt like F*ck it, let everyone else clean up the mess There are also 2 other nuggets in this video 1. The background guys in straight jackets that are writhing around represent the Slipknot fans (maggots) 2. The 2 guys in red represent the 2 lost band members from the original crew that went big (Paul and Joey) Hope that clarifies it a little.

I always saw the extreme videos as unnecessary but when you actually pay attention to the meaning it makes perfect sense. Learned to love the band.
