The redemption is Reds, finding hope, which is why he is telling the story. Andy was the inspiration. Andy was innocent and didn't need redeeming. This is an extremely rewatchable movie. Excellent in every way.
No one writes like Stephen King. If you enjoy fiction you should consider checking out his work, preferably in the order he wrote them. Although this was originally a very short story (not a true story), he and the writers really knocked this movie out of the park. Great reaction!!
Based on a Stephen King short story: "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption". Still my favorite movie of all time. The screen writing added even more to the story. The entire part of the movie revolving around Brooks was not in the original story, but adds so much to the film. Truly a masterpiece. You can still visit the town of Mansfield Ohio where the movie was filmed and do tours of the different locations. They were about to tear the prison down (actually the Ohio State Reformatory) when the movie saved it. The movie has become so famous, that people now use it as a catering hall because it has become chic to have wedding receptions there. Upon initial release, the movie was somewhat overlooked and didn't spend a long time in theatres. It also didn't help that it came out the same year as Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction (1994). Then a strong cult following began to herald the movie after word of mouth recommendations. That was the era when everybody was renting films from Blockbuster, etc. It has only grown in stature over the years as the story is timeless and the movie is now truly appreciated. The sets, the costumes, the cinematography, the musical score, the screen writing, the acting, the directing, just everything is top notch.
I’ve been to Ohio State reformatory, it’s so cool!!! Worth a visit if u r ever in Ohio. The scene at the half way house was actually filmed there and the parole board scene. The “hole” scenes r insane to go into those cells. Very cool place and museum…
It's from a Steven King short (fictional) story called "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption." Rita Hayworth was the woman on the first poster Andy had.
Love the emotion. This is a Stephen King story. Another great story by him also turned into a movie and directed by the same director is The Green Mile. You gotta react to it, just be ready for an emotional roller-coaster. The Shawshank Redemption is a great movie but I think The Green Mile is possibly the best movie ever made. Award winning acting by everyone.
Thank you for watching and I’ve seen the Green Mile many years ago when I was a kid, however, I don’t really remember it so I may have to add it to my list❤️
You got my sub. Really enjoyed your reaction (made better by a pup sighting!) I love that you just watched the movie! a lot of reactors over analyze every scene and really try to figure out the movies but I liked that you simply let the movie entertain you and I feel that’s how most of us first watched this movie. Took in the masterpiece and enjoyed it the way it was meant to taken in. Can’t wait to see more from you! If you don’t mind I’ll list a couple of recommendations that I really think you will appreciate. (Everyone is going to suggest The Green Mile, and that’s a beautiful movie and I love watching reactions to it. If you thought this was intense….The Green Mile is a rollercoaster. PS BOX OF TISSUES!!) 1) slumdog millionair- I think you will appreciate the story telling in it. 2) V for Vendetta- it’s a fantastic story. A lot of meaning and it’s a vigilante super hero movie. I could gush over V! 3) Oh Brother Where Art Thou! Great actors, FUNNY! It’s got some of the best music. When it came out it won awards for its music. So there’s my recommendations. Hope your little one is doing good and keep it up girl. I love seeing a fellow mommy!!
Stephen King wrote this.. and let me tell.. 99% of the things he writes are incredible, genius level for sure ... (the movies based on his works are so so.. hit and miss.. but the books are amazing) great reaction. Thank you for a real and heartfelt reaction. bless your heart. I think this movie was voted on IMDB as the top movie of all time.
Yes 5/5 star movie - no doubt. It's a movie that will always live with you. Now watch 'The Green Mile' by the same director. Amazingly, it's just as good!!!
My 5th favorite film of all time, a true masterpiece for the ages. When I watched it for the first time I started it around 2 in the morning...it's not exactly a short movie...and as soon as it was over - I immediately started it over and watched it all again. Brilliant, perfect, emotional, hopeful.
Shawshank is definitely my number 1 favorite movie of all time. Fun Fact: Mug shot of young red, is actually Morgan Freemans son Alfonso Freeman. Delousing helps get rid of Lice.
I've been watching movie reactions for 2 years. Shawshank is the litmus test. Your reaction was so entertaining, so genuine and real, you're now my fav reactor. I'm subscribed.
Part of the genius of this movie is the musical score written by Thomas Newman. It matches the action and drama of the movie perfectly. Newman has written the scores for The Help, American Beauty, The Green Mile, and countless more. If you watch this movie again, pay attention to the music. Great reaction.
"The Shawshank Redemption": A tale about Hope, Friendship and The Count of Monte Cristo. 2:39 Since it's 1947, the "Delousing powder" might be DDT. 7:42 Andy Dufresne, Ace financial advisor since 1949. 13:26 "Institutionalized." 15:18 An Aria: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hR-PIcYXYM4.html 17:21 "Randall Stevens." 18:49 I have the greatest regard for GED students. Some leave school to "help out the family"/educating girls is waste of money. 25:37 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zihuatanejo 28:06 A little-known song for Andy Dufresne: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5-fcvnYDEJ0.html 34:37 A song for Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j5sO0HbB5WY.html Stephen King's movies hadn't been doing well at the box office, along with this one. However, Frank Darabont became the go-to director for non-Horror Stephen King movies. "The Shawshank Redemption" found it's true audience on TV, becoming a cult movie, finally graduating it's well-deserved iconic status over the years.;)
Hey lady !! Great seeing you watching this masterpiece. Reminds me of the first time I watched this movie. And your beautiful dog is not an intrusion at all :)
I just found and subscribed to your channel. I loved your reaction to this movie, it's one of my all-time favorites! Keep on making such enjoyable content! P.S. I'm very much a "dog person" and your furbaby is just beautiful!
Great reaction! I just realized that When Andy tells Byron Hadley to gift the inheritance to his wife in order to keep the $35K, Andy also made sure that Hadley’s wife and kids were financially secure when Hadley gets arrested in the end. Andy played the long game really well.
If you dont cry at the end of this film, you may not have a heart. Good on you. I love the evolution of Red. He goes from hope is dangerous. Then he ends with saying I hope over and over again.
34:12 For anyone who doesn't want to read an essay, feel free to skip. I absolutely adore this scene. The music, finally taking on a hopeful tone, is just amazing. The entire point for the steps Andy gives to Red is to give Red a purpose after prison. red clearly shows Andy how institutionalised he is after Brooks attacks Haywood when hearing about his parole hearing. Andy knew full well after reading Brooks letter / suicide note that Red would end up doing the same thing. And so, as well as creating his own way out of prison, Andy did the same thing for Red. He created a convoluted series of tasks for Red to go through, in order to give the institutionalised man freedom from the prison within his own mind and make it to Mexico to see his friend. Andy dug two tunnels, one for himself, and one for Red. A truely spectacular movie that never fails to send chills down my spine and send tears down my face. Loved your reaction :D
Hey your reaction was really good but oh boy your dog is amazing! Haha i lost at her eyes. We had a crossbred german sheperd/husky (Pelu) when i was a teenager which just looked like her. Congrats for having such a beautiful animal as a companion 😊
Outstanding reaction to this contemporary classic film, based on the novel by Stephen King, that I saw in the theater back in the day when I lived in NYC and attended films every week bc I had a job where I could, and did, earn a lot of movie passes. For late 1980s into the early "naughts" of the 2000s, cinema in the U.S. at that time was similar in duration of some features from the late 1930s until 1965; at least 2 and 1/4 hours (+) -- even exceeding 3 hours with time for intermission like a play or opera. I'm absolutely subscribing to your channel. Your reaction is perfect as you were fully genuine and immersed and invested. Brilliant! You've an emotive, soft yet still clear & audible voice that made your review of THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION a genuine pleasure to dive back into. too many other reaction channels, those reacting tend to talk too loudly or almost too much. Some, regrettably try to hard to crack jokes or be pithy alone or with a buddy as they watch, even when nothing comedic occurred onscreen. That can be frustrating. They also forget that silence is a valid reaction for moments that are shocking or solemn or bewildering scenes. Even facial expressions, gestures, full body excitement or wonder, are reactions. You're a natural at this and I wish you more subscribers as you venture through the enormous catalog of incredible films, from various eras, domestic & international, that await you and we will enjoy seeing again through your eyes, opinions, deductions and sharing those views with everyone. Btw, Adorably sweet doggo! Peace.
It's a great movie. Your reaction was very good and your cute little dog was also watching your reaction 😁. I like this movie a lot and apart from that I will always remember the scene where Morgan Read the letter out of town my mother told me to look for someone not to arrive. My mother 6 months ago went to heaven 💓🌹.
That is a truly beautiful reaction. No matter how many times I see this, every emotion is triggered throughout. From movies, I think the final scene on the beach at the end is the happiest thing I've ever seen in any movie. Thank you for uploading your reaction!
This is one of writer Stephen King's "Dollar Babies", where King sold the Rights to one of his stories or short stories for $1, on the condition that King give approval for any adaptation or screenplay, and that he receive a copy of the finished product. "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption" was the short story King wrote, and Director Frank Darabont wrote the screenplay and directed the film. Darabont did write a check to King for $5,000 for the Rights, but King never cashed it. Another King short story Darabont adapted into film was The Green Mile.
This is a great story . Iam not sure if this is a base on true events but to me personally I want to think so . I love your reactions and yes animals ( your dog. Who's she is so beautiful) pick up on emotions. I know my first pet and only dog she lived 19 years human life. Thanks for reviewing.
Brilliant reaction - thank you! This film is based on a Stephen King's short story "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption". Rita Hayworth was a movie star during the 1940s and 1950s and she was on the first poster that Andy used to hide the hole he was digging. I loved how the film showed the passage of time by the posters of famous movie stars that Andy had in his cell - first was Rita Hayworth (1940s-1950s), then Marilyn Monroe (1950s-1960s) and finally Raquel Welch (1960s).
New subscriber! If you’re considering suggestions, here are some: - The Joy Luck Club - No country for old men - Gangs of New York - The Shining (also written by Stephen king) - Falling Down - American History x - The departed - The last samurai - Legally blonde - Top Gun & Top Gun maverick - Set it off - a beautiful mind
Your cute little puppy's reaction (and yours) when Tommy got shot! LOL 😍 It was like "momy, what's wrong?!" haha. Anyways, great reaction 🙂 Love this movie..in my top 3 ever for sure!
A lot of people reacting to this movie doesn't seem to know delousing in the beginning. It is a way to kill parasites that may be on the people with the idea of keeping the prison free of ticks, or other insects.
I'm a first time watcher of your channel, and I loved your reaction This movie is based on a Stephen King short story, and It was adapted for the screen and directed by Frank Darabont. He also did the same with, Stephen King's, book, The Green Mile, Which is another phenomenal movie. Starring Tom Hanks and Michael Clark Duncan
This movie and your reaction was awesome. A few great other movies you should see. Nan in the iron mask with Lio DiCaprio. The count of Monte Cristo is awesome. The other boylyn girl. And Troy. Try these
