Sheikh has made very good points. Do you really want to follow Hanafi Fiqh for the rest of your life and never question any of it? By question I mean issues that other scholars have raised and said it is weak. Allah knows best.

Assalamu Alikum😊 At 4:40 you said 3 fingers are not mentioned anywhere but I saw an hadith regarding thid so could you please clarify this, whether if the hadith is authentic or not or is there any other context to be understood in this hadith? *Eating with 3 fingers* Sahih Muslim Book 36, Hadith 171 Book 23, Hadith 5040 Ibn Ka'b b. Malik reported on the authority of his father that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to eat (food) with three fingers and he licked his hand before wiping it (with towel).

Excellent point that we must learn to question all that we are told and not become blind followers. Unfortunately all our present day illiterate maulvis want Taqlid without any questions. This is because they do not think as they have no mind of their own.

I have so much respect for sheikh Akram view here, however, it becomes a dilema for us leymans- when we ask the deobandi ulama, or brelvi scholars questions it is sad to say that their response isnt; "oh, you have made a good point, mashaAllah that is something to think about..." - rather the reply is mostly "Hey, are you the aalim?, where did you study or even are you doing ghustakhi." That is why sheikh people dont ask, its not that we can't, its because they wont let us.

Steal ask them even that will annoyed them with respect, and of course the intention should be seeking guidance to the obedience of Allah only. This is what I understand from shaikh Akram's explanation. Thank you. Assalam Alaikum

2: 172. *Oh, those who believed! You eat from wholesome things that We have provided for you and be grateful to Lord Allah if you are only serving Him alone.* It is told in verses 23: 51-52: “Oh Messengers! You eat wholesome things and do righteous deeds; indeed I am the Knower of anything you are doing; and indeed, this community of yours is a single community, and I am your Lord, so all of you heed Me”. It is told in verse 7: 32 that Lord wishes the believers to utilize the amenities and wholesome things in this world, and particularly in the Hereafter. The grateful believers utilize Adhikr as the Balance and Criterion to distinguish wholesome things from evil things, and they are living always remembering Lord and remind others by propagating His Message Adhikr. Only who purified the soul can follow and testify Adhikr as told in verse 56: 79. It is told in verses 43: 33-35: “If it is not that all men might become in one way of life, We would have provided for everyone who denies the Impartial Lord, the silver roof for their houses, stair-cases to go upstairs, doors to their houses and coaches to recline on and all the adornments with gems. But all these are nothing but an enjoyment of this life, the Hereafter in the sight of your Lord is for the heedful”. The worthless people of Fujjar are serving Satan and are eating evil forbidden things. It is told in verse 41: 37: “You should not prostrate to the sun and the moon; instead, you should prostrate to Allah Who has created them if you are only serving Him alone”. Whatever earned through the footsteps of Satan is heinous and forbidden as explained in verses 2: 168-169. So shortly, by the proclamation of Mahdi, these filthy Fujjar will be expelled from Hejaz whereas the believers among mankind all over the world will be entered there as explained in verses 7: 127-137. See explanation 2: 150, 152, and 188. *From Adhikr-the Best Interpretation of Lord's Book* www.straightpathonline.com

I think instead of mentioning tabligh so much he should have mentioned so many other examples. However washing hands before eating is a beneficial practice. If people are taught to wash their hands before eating in tabligh jamaat it is commendable.

Habibi, a Hasan hadith or any Hadith alone does not establish “the sunnah” simply by way of the chain being somewhat or all authentic. To establish something as a Sunnah you need corroboration of reports according to majority of Scholars. What you have mentioned is a Khabar Wahid. A singular report. According to most Scholars, singular or a small number of reports are speculative. It is not certain or conclusive simply because we cannot remove room for doubt of error/mistake. According to the athari/Hanbali methodology it is enough to have one authentic chain alone to establish the Sunnah and they say it is certain but the early Hanafi/Malikis place many more conditions before accepting and establishing something as “Sunnah.” Nadwi is Hanafi hence he is discussing according to a higher standard of Usul. In any case, you can’t use a Hasan hadith to establish the Sunnah. Hasan hadith are used as supporting evidences, not as a hujjah (proof) in and of themselves. This is according to science of Hadith as well. A hadith is always subject to further investigation unless the narrator is of the highest level of credibility which is thiqqah. The fact that this is a Hasan report shows the credibility is not as high. Secondly, just because the Prophet did it like that in this one instance does not mean he always ate like that in every instance. Hence why one report is not enough to “establish” something as Sunnah. On top of that, ibn Hajar is coming along 7-800 years after Hijri and teaching us that this hadith is Hasan and so it becomes part of the Sunnah whilst the first few generations completely miss it out as part of their Fiqh? On top of that, the books of Rijaal state that Abdullah ibn Busr accompanied the Prophet for a very small time. Someone on that level also cannot establish what the Sunnah is. You need a Companion who has known the Prophet for a long time according to another condition. If this was the established Sunnah way to eat and something commendable, the main Companions, especially the 4 main friends of the Prophet and other Jurist Companions, would have taught this through their actions and early fiqh would have encapsulated it. Depends what view you follow, some Scholars have a much higher standard before accepting something in to the realm of “Sunnah.” For a minority of classic Scholars, one report is enough. For the majority, you need a lot more evidence. Allahu A’lam.

@@rabbi619 not only Hasan, even Sahih does not mean that the information is certain or conclusive. Imaam Nawawi explains it best: Nawawi [d. 676 AH] Al-Taqreeb wal-tayseer Volume 1, Page 25 PDF 5 “The term Sahih means a chain of narration which is connected via truthful people who have good memory and that the chain does not have any problems or deficiency. This is the meaning of Sahih. It does not mean that the information is certain/conclusive." الصحيح في حده. وهو ما اتصل سنده بالعدول الضابطين من غير شذوذ ولا علة، وإذا قيل صحيح فهذا معناه لا أنه مقطوع به Usul has everything to do with this brother. You can have Hasan or Sahih hadith all day long but if they clash with Usul they can be rejected. This is why Imam Malik would reject many sahih hadith if they went against Usul like: Qiyaas, Ijma’ ahlul Madinah. Abu Hanifah would do same if they went against Usul too such as: ma ta’um bihi al-balwa. But it was Imam Shafi’i and mostly Ahmad ibn Hanbal who placed the chain above the Usul by focusing everything on the narrators. If you want to follow that method then go ahead but the majority of Jurists saw this as a deficient method because Usul is built upon intellectual and explicit verses. Chains are good but they are not as strong as Usul. That’s why Imam Malik even brings the strongest chain (golden chain according to Bukhari) and then rejects it based on Usul. You can find this in his Muwatta. Plus, the majority of Sahih hadith are solitary meaning they do not carry certainty according to majority of the Fuqaha. They are only used for rulings and they are not used for beliefs. This is the opinion of the majority of the Jurists. This is the opinion of Nawawi (sharh al-madhab), Aamdi (al-Ihkaam), Jassaas (al-Fusul fil Usul), Khateeb al-Baghdaadi (al-Kifaayah), ibn al-Jawzi (alNawaasikj al-Qur’an), al-Juwaini (al-Burhan fi Usul al-Fiqh) and majority of the Jurists of the past. This view has only started changing since the Salafi da’wah which is basically the Hanbali da’wah which places chain above everything else. This was never the majority view in the past if you read classical texts. Hope that clarifies it for you.

These are bizarre statements from the imaam. I saw Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) eating with three fingers (i.e., the thumb, the index finger and the middle finger) and licking them after having finished the food. [Muslim]. وعن كعب بن مالك رضى الله عنه قال‏:‏ رأيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يأكل بثلاث أصابع ، فإذا فرغ لعقها‏.‏‏‏((رواه مسلم)) It was narrated by al-Bayhaqi in his Sunan (464) and Abu Nu‘aym in al-Hilyah (2/182) that ‘Aa’ishah said: When the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) went to the toilet, he would cover his head, and when he was intimate with his wife he would cover his head. And many ulama acted upon despite its weakness. In addition, no lay person is qualified to even understand the evidence neither is the qualified mufti obliged to share it as mentioned in usool al Fiqh , the only group who told the lay person to research into such matters where the literalists. A lay persons job is merely to ask the scholar.
