@@lucky_crit It's this really obscure game called Crest of Flames Triple Buildings for the Swintendo Nitch. You should check it out. You play as Olimar and have to choose between the blue, yellow or red Pikmin.
The bond thing is kinda weird tbh. Characters that don't even support with each other like Bernie and Marianne get a boost, but not caspar and linhardt who are best friends since childhood??
Could be that they have similar resolve in battle. Like Linhardt doesn’t give a f but Casper always looking for a scrap. Marianne and Bernie hate confrontation so they can both help each other in getting over that in the heat of the moment.
More Interesting Facts - Edge of Dawn's lyrics were altered slightly at the end of the original trailer - In the Blue Lions Route, there are leftovers of Anette and Felix betraying the group and you have to fight them - Sothis is coded in as a full playable character in the game Just leaving some of my favorites here^^
always upset that it seemed there was supposed to be a route split in BL kind of like CF. It seems like when Dimitri and Gilbert ask Byleth if they want to take the kingdom capital or march for Enbarr, that would've been the deciding moment? Perhaps if you would've went straight to Enbarr, Dimitri never would've redeemed himself and Felix and Annette would've turned against him? WE WANT ANSWERS
With that last Flame Emperor tibit, I now want sad/smiley expressions on the Flame Emperors mask. My head cannon is now that it switches out different masks when it wants to express emotion
That is correct, but it's odd they stuck with the story's correct colors and symbols aside from that, and then named the routes differently, even Verdant Wind sounds like the Green/Summer Route instead of Yellow's
I think you are forgetting one detail about the Japanese title: Each of those words are also found the Part 2 campaigns: Crimson Flower, Silver Snow, Azure Moon, and Verdant Wind Also, I think you can check out Jeralt's Name and Crest on the map in the prologue when you first meet the three lords, or any chapter where he is deployed as a NPC
Yeah that threw me off. I always thought Silver Snow refers to Rhea. Especially how the white color of snow matches that of The Immaculate One (literally called "The White One" in Japanese iirc).
It’s also found in their Special Classes Mastery Combat Arts, “Flickering Flower” for Edelgard, “Paraselene” for Dimitri, and “Wind God” for Claude. AND what’s even more, is for Rhea, as the immaculate one, she has the Skill “Hoarfrost” which is Snow.
It doesn't seem likely that Edelgard was intended to be more definitively good: a recent article confirmed that Silver Snow was the first route developed, always with the intention of you eventually facing your house leader.
10:42 i thought that you were going to lead this into how some special bonds between characters don't have support convos, so their inclusion doesn't actually affect the pair. (BernieXMarrianne, HildaXDorothea) This would lead one to believe that supports that were originally intended to be in the game were cut for some reason. Edit: a few peeps have already noted this in the comments section. my b!
Baal, God of Rain it would honestly probably be pretty underwhelming. They are both “shy squishy long-range girls,” but their reclusiveness or shyness come from very different sources. I don’t think they could really bond too much over anything
I'm honestly kind of upset that Bernadetta and Marianne never had a support together since I feel they would fit really well together in a support. Maybe in a future update, hopefully?
I doubt it. Sadly I'm pretty sure they're all done now with adding content. In one interview regarding cindered shadows they basically say they're moving on now.
@@sparshkapar5254 That would be really cool if there is more DLC added but I'm not going to get my hopes up on it being real just in case of it not being real.
Nice job with this! I think Christina might have accidentally revealed her VA role as Edelgard before allowed to like how Robbie Daymond indirectly teased and then had to take down his Twitter post. Regardless of the reason, they're both great, though Tara's sharper tone suits the character better I think.
That's sometimes how trailers have to be made. You'll likely have to get footage from the most stable (or playable) version of the game you've got, which might not reflect the final product.
It's because he canonically has super human strength thanks to his crest. So he breaks things very easily, so something that is already easy to break just turns to dust in his hands. This is also reflected when his crest activates as it not only doubles his damage, but weapon durability loss.
The devs have said that the church route was the very first story they outlined, later they added the option to side with Edelgard, and after that the other two lords. So indeed, Edelgard was one of the initial and
@@liamdiamondSWAG They created the game with the initial premise of "And then the Main Lord betrays you". That was the basis the game was built upon. Also "what if the male armored emperor archetype was...a girl!?!"
I have something for you Manuela was renamed to Miguela in the Latin American localisation, possibly because of "Manuela" being a sexual slang. Also, the motivation icons look different in English compared to Japanese and the other localisations.
I actually found out about Byleth's last name when I checked the grave where Jeralt and now Sitri are buried. I saw that Jeralt's last name was Eisner and just assumed that it was also Byleth's last name.
8:26 Expect one... There's still one character found in the code that's not playable, at all, even by hacking. What's more, the DLC *actually updated this character's data a little.* This has caused some people, like Ghast, to question if there'll actually be more DLC in the future. 11:31 As a programmer myself, I'd have expected all characters to have six (or more) portraits (saying that based on Anna there), but other characters have less than six. Arrays in programming can be messy if not handled correctly. So, I'm thinking there might've been plans to have multiple Flame Emperor portraits in different states of condition (like damaged or something like that), but that never happened. And, considering it's quite possible the program for the array was already coded in before someone told the programmers that the portraits weren't going to happen, so instead filled the array for the Flame Emperor with the same portrait, because, as I said, arrays can be messy if not handled correctly. So, in other words, simply changing the array's element count could've caused an error somewhere else in the program and just might've not had the time to actually fix that.
@@orenthall No likely, considering Sitri is never deployed and the code also has two more DLC slots. In coding, these might be completely different "programs" (more likely they're classes). The position of this non-playable character is also not located anywhere near the Cindered Shadows characters, and is instead located near Jeritza and Anna in the character list. As such, the likelihood that this, possibly left over character, is Sitri is extremely unlikely. The character also is a commoner and is 17 years old. I don't think they'd have made Sitri 17 years old. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IG7hRafknEY.html
Yes. I at least wish we got to hear Tara say that line for comparison (and also because it's just a really emotional quote) but you can really hear Edelgard's desperation towards Byleth in those few words
Talha Haque I just don’t really like characters that immediately get to loving the avatar. The progression with Claude and Dimitri is far more satisfying to me, neither of them really obsess over Byleth.
Acrnavy Tf, Edelgard didn’t immediately love the avatar, her love had much more progression than Dimitri and Claude especially since Edelgard has trust issues, it was so much more satisfying seeing Edelgard open up to Byleth and her other identity as the Flame Emperor. Honestly that’s such a petty and nitpicky thing to argue about oml.
The fact that there are special bonds with characters that can't support with each other; makes me think that they planned to write in those supports, but didn't for whatever reason.
Interesting video! When I played the Crimson Flower path I always thought it was the "budget route" since it lacked alot of cutscenes/chapters/content in general because I thought they added it last or never even wanted to add it, but I just read this interview & it was like that from the start! "Kusakihara: The direction of each house was decided from the start. The Black Eagles had characters with more challenging backgrounds. The Blue Lions had more traditional characters, while the Golden Deer was full of misfits. -It seems more people started with the Black Eagles. Kusakihara: That makes sense. It was the only house with a female leader. -On top of that, that route also had a hidden story branch. Yokota: We kept it hidden, but the idea to have a story branch was there since the creation of the Black Eagle route. -Did you have plans to implement a story branch for the other houses? Yokota: No. We only decided it for the Black Eagle house and to keep it a secret. Edelgard is a character with a unique position, but we thought it would be more interesting to have two stories here, then we implemented the triggers for it."
I feel like Crimson Flower was made short due to memory limitations considering the lag, slow load times, graphic downgrade, & class limitations present in the game. Think about the amount of data contained in that small cartridge: Graphics, Cutscenes, Music, Audio, CG Art, etc. I’m willing to forgive the devs for doing this but I still hate Edelgard.
@@garyconstanza3120 Maybe it is time restraints. The split itself was from the start since Edie is unique in her role as the central villain from the devs perspective but to the players who start the game she starts as one of the 3 lords then at the end of part1 players discover she's the flame emperor, 5 minutes later she wages war on others, so it makes sense for the players to feel bad/betrayed about her, that's why they decided to give 2 paths in BE & make CF the secret route that needs certain conditions to be playable. That's what I think anyway.
It allows you to wield the sword of the creator........Linhardt in one of his supports mentions I think that crests don't seem to have much use outside of fighting. So aside from being able to wield a heroes relic, users gain a boost in strength, stamina maybe (strength for sure). Its not explored too deeply but dimitris support with mercedes is an example of a crest enhancing his strength as he breaks a pair of scissors effortlessly in the support.
@@sirkoopa2412 The crest have different abilities. Catherines crest makes it rain ,the crest of Gloucester makes magic stronger , Dimitri's crest gives him super strength etc. The game never actually explains the crest of Flames' abilities. Byleth is only able to use Divine Pulse because of Sothis and he can wield the Sword of the Creator because he has the crest stone.
I wonder if Marianne and Bernadetta, as seen with how they have a special bond, were originally supposed to have supports? I wonder why they left the coding for special support bonuses in, but removed the coding for any supports?
I think you meant to say Marianne instead of Mercie? With that said, maybe Marianne was suppose to be a member of the Empire and maybe Petra was Kingdom? I mean, Ashe was seemingly part of the Alliance in the trailer.
@@Practitioner_of_Diogenes okay edited. Anyway, im not so sure. I think it was more of, marianne and Bernadetta are similar characters, so it would have made sense for them to communicate
You are kinda right tho. In every route, Claude can survive and leave for Almyra in the end. So if there ever is a sequel, then Claude being the Almyran king would be canon probably
@@majesthijmenii1976 I agree. It shows how our choices can change our future, often dramatically. It probably helps that *SPOILERS* you’re basically the Jesus of the Fire Emblem world.
about the wind that is missing from the original poem: yes, wind is never mentioned in the original chinese poem by bai juyi. however, it is present implicitly in the poem nonetheless. the poem's title (雪月花) translates literally to snow, moon, flower, but there is a chinese phrase "风雪月花" which translates literally to "wind snow moon flower." the phrase appears in an abbreviated form in the title and poem's body. translated non-literally, it is a phrase used to indicate the passage of easygoing and relaxing times, kind of like an idiom. it should also be noted that the phrase only applies to scholars or nobility, as the phrase refers to their easy and quickly-passed days spent writing poetry and doing art and other nobility-like things. very relevant to fe3h in my opinion :) the original chinese poem even highlights the difference between the nobility and the lower classes, as a later sentence mentions songstresses who were considered of lower class. the narrator reminisces about missing the songs of these songstresses. also relevant esp to dorothea's arc! lastly, "crimson flower" holds an additional meaning as well. in ancient times, a crimson flower was given to those who earned great merits or achievements by the government. as a "reward" of sorts, you were allowed to ride on a horse through town with the crimson flower as a showcase of your great deeds. the poem mentions the riding on horseback with the crimson flower, which could be in reference to edelgard's desire to create a world where "people rise and fall by their own merits" as she put it? great stuff!!! i hope you found this interesting bc i really enjoyed the video.
I am confused as to how Lysithea and Cyril, Caspar and Linhardt, and Ashe and Petra have no special bonds, but Bernadetta and Marianne do despite the lack of a support between them.
Wonderful video as always Stevie! Great to see you making them again. One interesting thing to add to that Bond Support section right at the end is that even though Hilda and Dorothea have a potential bond support, they do not share any actual supports. I wonder if it was intended for them to have supports and just never got implemented. Definitely not trying to undermine all the awesome information you had in the video, but figured it might be an interesting little tidbit.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ They definitely intended for the similarities between Cao Wei, Shu Han & Eastern Wu (Three Kindoms) and Faerghus, Leicester Alliance, and Adrestian Empire, though, I can't see how that wouldn't affect them giving it that name
I mean we're talking about the English VA. They probably assumed Edelgard would be a more typical princess/ cute love interest character from the trailer but then realized that this wouldn't really work with the plot twist and everything and that she needed to sound more like a determined leader type. From the interviews with the devs it seems like it was the other way around that they first intended to make her a more straightforward antagonist but then realized while writing & play-testing that the character she ended up being was actually pretty sympathetic and made it easier to get on her route. Same with the others - Dimitri was at first just a goody two shoes with the angsty elements coming along later, and Claude was meant to be more of an amoral trickster until they worked out the plot twist that he's actually good despite his sheming tendencies. All in all all three came out as more interesting characters than if they'd stuck to the very basic archetypes they were first intended to be.
Wait a minute, that special bonds picture is strange. I know that certain characters get might bonuses from supports, but why do Bernadetta and Marianne have special bonds when they don’t even have supports with each other? Same goes for Dorothea and Hilda. The game only lists the bonuses for you when you check the supports, so there’s no way for us to have known about the might bonuses for Bernadetta-Marianne and Dorothea-Hilda. Perhaps they originally had supports that eventually got cut out?
Localized title? There was an interview where they revealed the english title was first and the japanese title was chosen as an alternative as they couldnt properly translate the concept of houses to japanese. Was that interview debunked or soemthing?
As someone who grew up playing Dynasty warriors, three houses to me looked like a dream cross over once i saw its being made by Koei and the map design of 3 ruling lords. After playing Warriors i was really excited to see more of these types but Three houses definitely took the Cake... and ate it too!
Her voice sounds more like Byleth, which made me think the Flame Emperor was another version of Byleth or something like in FE Awakening. Funny considering Byleth also changed VAs.
This kinda stuff is really interesting! I love looking at scrapped leftover stuff in game files and changes throughout development, I would love to see a part 2!
Has anyone looked into the fact that the Crest Signs and Golem names might reveal the rest of the Nabateans? The Signs all have "*** Dragon" prefixed which lines up with appearances/abilities for Macuil, Indech and Cethleann and two of the Golems are named Chevalier and Timotheos.
I never realized the four dragons in the picture with Sothis were Macuil, Indech, Cethleann, and Cichol, but at least now we have some idea of what Flayn and Seteth's dragon designs were.
Edelgard was definitely not planned to be black-and-white. It was revealed in an interview that she was originally meant to be the antagonist, regardless of route. (Silver Snow was the first route made.) However, when Infinite Systems brought on the Warriors team, their director noted that himself, along with a decent portion of the crew, actually agreed with Edelgard's ideals and wanted to make it so you could side with her too.
So I know that last names help build the world setting. It's noted that nobles from Adrestia use "von" while nobles from Faerghus have a middle name. And since Leister branched off from both, they kinda have a mix. But Jeralt has a MIDDLE NAME! Meaning he could've been from a noble house before becoming a knight!
A very neat detail about the mural depicting Sothis is that there are 4 Crests that are scratched out. If you look closely, you'll notice that the Crests that are obscured are the Crests of Aubin, Chevalier, Noa and Ernest. It's explained in-universe that these Crests have all been lost to the ages. So that's some neat foreshadowing right there! Although mysteriously, the Crest of Timotheos is entirely visible despite also being another one of these lost Crests.
Oh yeah, he got a bad case of Dragon life cycle after Rhea gave him a blood transfusion and the hand of her test-tube baby in marriage for being a good boi. Well, to be fair to Jeralt, he won over the failed experiment on his own merits of... being both hot and not a cripple. But anyways, Alois was actually being observant when he said that Jeralt looked like he hadn’t aged at all since he left the monastery, because he actually hadn’t.
b b I already thought you might have realized it, but hopefully anybody who sees your comment and has the same question will go into the replies and see what I wrote. The likes on your comment imply that a number of other people were also confused, and since you can never see when likes were given, unless you constantly check each comment, there’s at least a possibility that I helped out somebody.
This was pretty cool. I wish we knew why the VA’s changed for Edelgard. I mean, I like both, but I’m still curious, ya know? Also, I feel like they really had a bunch of different ideas behind the scenes they scrapped. Like the Blue Lions where Felix and Annette can leave/turn on you, from that video where someone hacked them off their team. Was pretty interesting. I also find it weird that in the second phase of the game there’s always 2 empty chairs next to Byleth in the council meetings. I feel like they’d had ideas of letting Jerault live, or Rhea not getting captured or something. I dunno. Just noticing stuff and wondering. This was neat to watch though seeing all the differences, after knowing the game so well. I wish soldiers WOULD fly into the air when dying like in those trailers though. That’s funny to see.
"by hacking him in to the players army" Are. Are you not able to see when Jeralt is an ally....???? I swear I found out from the game itself without any of that
Thats really odd that Lindhart and Casper don't have a special bond together? I'd expect those two have some connection, both acknowledge each others fathers being opposites minsters to each other and them never wanting to fight each other.
Honestly, the opening video of the game is one of the greatest video game cutscenes ever. The only other one in FE history that could match its scale is that big battle with the Laguz in Radiant Dawn's latter part, but even that isn't nearly so tightly-knit as the 3H opening scene.
Excellent video! I'd love to see more follow up trivia videos in the future. My suggestion for a potential future video: I've heard the that 3H crest system was based on tarot cards deck. Could you do a video explaining 1) which crest matches up with each major arcana and 2) what those major arcana mean symbolically, and why they connect to said crest in particular.
Regarding the special bonds thing, Marianne and Bernie don’t support, and I’m pretty sure Dorothea and Hilda don’t either. With this chart, it seems like these pairs were to have supports initially, but then were scrapped
Hey! I’m FakeKyloRen, the guy who posted the Special Bonds image. I forget if I pointed it out in the comments, but I took the post from Twitter and saved it to my phone. When I went back to reference it later, it turned out the twitter account was deleted with the original tweet removed, so I’m not the original poster of it.
I love Edelgarde anyway but I legit want the "Vee Cut" lol, just a different voice can change a lot about a character and I wanna see how it would effect Edelgardes path...also I just really like CV's voice
At 4:40, if you look at the top of the battle forecast, you can see the Wrath skill(or atleast its symbol) being displayed. Interestingly, when Byleth was added into Heroes, He/She came with the Wrath skill. It's possible that Wrath was a nod to Byleth in early development. Just another bit of trivia.
Would want more trivia videos they pique my curiosity. I like how they build the three countries from Romance of three kingdoms, but personally I'd love the game to involve more countries on the map. All these countries with mysterious names, I think it is a good candidate for another DLC.
If Thress Houses is based of Romance of the Three Kingdoms then the Black Eagles are Wei, the Golden Deer are Wu, and the Blue Lions are Shu (Or is it the other way around with the BLs and the GDs).
There's a lot of Fan Service for Koei Fans in 3 houses. Example: Dimitri's Normal stance is literally from Zhao yun's Victory stance in dynasty warriors 5. When i noticed that the first time i was in shock cuz I didn't think koei would handle the Combat Animations and stuff. A lot of Physical weapons except on horseback or fliers animations are complete copy from koei games. Noticing these references was a great joy to me. That's a fan service done well in my opinion *Muah* 👌🏾
She's definitely sweeter, which you could argue whether or not fits the direction they ultimately went with the character, but I do like Tara's execution, too
4:08 When the trailer first came out, I actually really liked Mercedes' brown hair, but I thought she was locked to being an enemy unit, I liked her design more with brown hair tbh. 7:25 Also, I think it was an NDA violation that led to Edelgard's VA change, as when Christina Vee announced on Twitter that she was dropped by Nintendo there were replies to the tweet saying that Robbie Daymond had removed his announcement of being on the character roster for FE3H: "Gosh, my heart just skipped. Thought you'd say, that you're not voicing Edelgard in FE16 anymore. " Cristina Vee Replying to masterpontora: "well that too. it’s been a tough year, haha." 12:52 PM · Jun 6, 2019.... "Real Plot Twist: Robbie isn't in the cast of FE 3H ;-; " to masterpontora·Jun 7, 2019 "He is" to Cri_Cricketto ·Jun 7, 2019 "He deleted his tweet about that and later tweeted an apology saying he isn't in the cast " to masterpontora · Jun 7, 2019 "His tweet after the deletion didnt said he isn't in the cast, he said he made a mistake and yeah. He's still in 3H." to Cri_Cricketto·Jun 7, 2019 She was probably dropped due to getting reported on this tweet: Yes, that is me you hear as Edelgard! This looks amazing, I can’t wait. Quote Tweet from Nintendo of Europe · Jun 12, 2018 2:14 11:20 AM · Jun 12, 2018 from Burbank, CA Also considering the reasons for Chris Niosi's drop, not necessarily due to the allegations against him but due to the fact that he apologized for bragging about getting role of Byleth in FE:3H which was a violation of NDA. In addition, many of the voice actors for characters in FE:3H never mentioned their association with the game prior to its launch, even though it was possible to tell who the VA's were, like Cassandra Lee Morris as Sothis. A counterargument could be made to this in that Christian LaMonte, VA for Seliph, Ignatz, and "goodbois", mentioned in a stream a little bit after the 18 minute mark that he couldn't wait to tell what big things are in store for the next year on the Twitch channel rFireEmblemHeroes around Thanksgiving 1 year and 4 months ago, but a reasonable explanation to this was that his claim was far too vague to warrant any severance from the game development, as at the time it was possible to be under the impression that he was talking about anime projects he was working on or that Seliph would be the next legendary hero alt or receive a weapon refine, neither of which happened any time soon after (I'm still waiting for that alt ;( btw) The possible reasoning against NDA being the cause of Christina Vee being dropped would be the announcement of Joe Zieja as Claude von Riegan a week before the game's release. The counter-argument to this would be that copies of the game had already been sent out early to be reviewed before Zieja's announcement and thus it is plausible that the period for which the NDA would be active had passed. This is supported by the fact that Famitsu published its review of the full game on the same day as Zieja's announcement and the fact that the VA's would be revealed the next day via the FE:3H banner trailer in FEH. In addition, although Niosi's NDA violation was revealed very close to the game's release, his violation would have taken place at a time much farther back than the reveal. Also, I don't think changing Edelgard's VA due to an inability to sound fierce is a valid argument due to the fact that Christina Vee voices Lachesis in FEH, and from those voicelines, you can tell that she has the range to do a voice with a bit of authority in it for Edelgard. But I guess that interpretation of a voice actor's performance is subjective, so I don't necessarily find explanations for changes in game development such as the one provided satisfactory, although it is still plausible. TL;DR another possible reason for Christina Vee's role being replaced by Tara Platt would be due to NDA violations. -Unsubstantiated opinions are invalid, REEEEE- but the opinion is pretty valid if you do one simple trick ;))))
