"Weird cuteness" is a perfect description. The only things I'd add are "talented songwriter" and "committed to justice" - she toured for years supporting LGBTQIA+ rights. 💙🌈
she was cute! she always kept her youthful spirit and looks. she in her early 30s in this video and during the girls just wanna have fun video and she i think she passed as someone in their late teens!
Isn’t sad that all parties have to end no matter how much fun they are. I was more of a 70s person and the 80s for me were rather traumatic but it did end well with the birth of my eldest child in 1989.
I can't believe that no one has commented about the video quality. Yes, boys and girls, this was the best picture quality we could hope for when we watched TV and videos back then.
Boy she has an excellent band who's backin' her up plus her sound engineer(s) have done an excellent - excellent job. Would've loved to watch this concert in '86...Tiny woman - powerful voice.
She appeared to have routinely masked her natural beauty with her wardrobe, hair, and make-up back in the day. But yeah, she's undeniably talented, i.e., incredible singer - vocal range - and songwriter, and I would agree very attractive it seems when she chooses.
Cyndi was always so unique, odd but super cute at the same time and oh so talented and fun. Friends gave me crap for liking her, they were all into heavy metal, but I prefer a little of everything!
She was sweet, she is gorgeous today, an artist that managed fame the smart way. Never had scandals and still one of the best performers ever! Cyndi, you are the 80's !!!!!!!!!!!
Japan's TV (NHK) are pioneers with the highest standards of TV (like 8K). So, I can't believe this video has so low quality (even for that year) considering it was presented in that country.
She was always so cute and natural. She is one of my inspirations.Sometimes I wish I was a teenager in the 80s, Being 16 in 2014 sucks some of the new songs of today are not even music. Cyndi forever
Cyndi had and still has the most beautiful eyes, gorgeous smile, and amazing voice. I fell in love with her the first time after time I saw her. Thanks Cyndi, for not being trashy like most singers - past and present - who sold their albums while portraying themselves as the goddess that only you are to this day .
That classic giggle she presented in the opening verse/lines are just so memorable, and pretty much not able to be legitimately copied by anybody else. What a powerful performance!
I remember pop/rock radio in the 1980’s. Madonna and Cyndi came onto my radar at the same time. I kind of think of them together. However, Cyndi is vastly more talented, and a very good person on top of it. All these years later I’ll watch videos and listen to Cyndi’s records, but wouldn’t bother with anything from the blonde harlot. Funny how popular music usually doesn’t pick the best singers/musicians, lucky we have these recordings?
she sure was a little hottie back in the day, today, she is still vibrant in the music community, writing songs and producing for other artists. A true artist who has made MUSIC, not social media, her life.
Cyndi is a true , genuine entertainer. She has a great voice and enough real talent and versatility to attract adult audiences. She has the silliness and eccentricities to attract the kids. She has incredible stage presence and energy and she’s fun and likable. She’s a unique high quality entertainer. And for the guys….she has sneaky natural beauty and underrated, cute legs . ❤❤ Madonna got more headlines, but Cyndi’s my girl.
I met her in the lobby of one of the Disney hotels back in the late 90's. I was with my 3 year old daughter and Ms. Lauper just fawned all over her while we talked. She was just the coolest person. The kind of person you'd just want to hang out at a tavern and have a beer with. Still have never seen her perform live though. Enjoyed her records when they first came out.
She was always in control of the music. She is smart intelligent a true artist. I remember Change of heart... Cyndi you are the Salvador Dali of music. Admiring you since 1983. Thanks for everything,
My mom would rent her documentary I forgot the name of it but it’s where she’s talking about her music and they show all her music videos including she bop and I absolutely fell in love with her even at 8 years old. My mom was born in 1972, and she’s always loved late 60s music as well as 80s music. She introduced me to so many oldies songs they’re still my favorite to this day. I’m 26 now, and miss watching this stuff with her. Sadly my mom has schizophrenia and isn’t all there when I talk to her now, but I know she still has good memories from times like these.
Saw her in Rancho Mirage some years ago near my hometown of Palm Springs. There was a LOT of dancing in the aisles during that concert. One of our top three or four American songwriter/performers of the past century, easily.
This songs 🎵 brings many bittersweet memories, that will never come around again! I have to stop, I can't finish listening till the end, it's painful! Love you Cyndi...💞
'Cyndi Lauper in Paris' was the first special I saw on HBO. And I was a huge fan of her from then on!!! She's truly is a one-in-a-million talent from music to Broadway to T.V. Cyndi will be always rhe '80's 'wild child'!
This is such a fantastic performance from such a fantastic artist. I completely and absolutely believe she is the BEST. I am sad that I never had the chance to see her live. The more I see and listen to her, the more I understand how important and credible and valuable she is. Thank you, Cyndi Lauper, for sharing some of your life story with us!!
I saw her about ten years ago at Jazz Fest in New Orleans. She's more of my wife's taste in music, but I was massively impressed with her vocal skills. She could run circles around today's singers with their vomit inducing autotunes.
You are absolutely correct she has an amazing voice and these artists now in days have no writing their own lyrics and use special effects to enhance their horrible voices nothing but mumble jumble
I remember seeing her perform a couple of "standards" back in the 1980's or early 1990's. After that, I realized she was quite a talent that was being wasted on a lot of the pop stuff she was singing. But if she made a living at it, more power to her. And honestly, I did enjoy some of the pop stuff, too.
So many millions of pop fans "bopped" to this classic tune four decades ago. Cindy Lauper captured the essence of young adulthood as "She Bopped" to them.
Killer bass line, todays girly artists cant even write an interesting lyric with a melody to match its a music lesson that 80s artists knew well. Poetic lyrics interrupted by a drum beat a bass line laying the platform and synthesizers creating atmosphere all came together into this dream state that was the 80s
The album version of this song is still one of my favorites. She truly is an amazing artist. I know everybody’s making fun of Madonna but she was good for a little while, until her ego started to get the better of her.
