What do you propose for someone who had 2 microdiscectomy surgeries on the same disc L4/L5 and recovering trying to strengthen all the area of the core!?
This drill always makes me think of those old-school kung fu films in which the student does some crazy exercise as part of his training, but it works to his advantage when it comes to avenging his fallen master. It works so well in learning core stability and strength.
Skateboarding will give you a really strong core too, constantly changing muscle tension and balance points, very good for the body. As long as you don't break too many bones 😅.
Literally everything causes a stronger core than this ridiculous exercise. Running, swimming, deadlift, squat…. Everything does a good job at building core BESIDES walking around like a moron with a weight hanging from a rubber band on a squat bar.
@@jonathanwilliams9359 I was thinking the same.. There are tons of things that strengthen the core.. all this does is risk someone's leg getting hit with a swinging dumbbell 🤦🏻♀️
Rather than messing with the pvc pipe/weight/band..you could just do farmer’s carries. Grab a relatively heavy thing in one hand and walk with it while making sure to not “lean” to the weighted side. I do these everyday at work since I’m carrying buckets full of tools and materials around all day.
I think he just wanted to add the unpredictability factor by utilizing a rubber band. Farmer's carries definitely do the job, but this is more of a progression.
It’s the most honest and most helpful use of thirst trap vids for lead-ins to ACTUALLY GREAT work out vids and physical therapy I’ve ever seen. Kudos to this man’s channel. I use so much of his training.

@@bluemist3115she is wearing a bra and tights. . . It's a sports bra that originally was supposed to go under a shirt but thirsty woman made it normal to just walk around in a bra hence thirst trap
@@christopherowen1776Do Pilates instructors correct your posture in the machines if you aren't doing it correctly? I remember asking my pt about a trainer to start exercising and she said if they don't have a "CSCS" after their name they're just going to show you how to use a machine or do an exercise but they will not know how to correct your form for your particular needs if you have any types of injuries ect.
Another thing is to make absolutely sure you don’t get hurt. I hurt myself going into my 20s and now at the end of them I’m in so much pain constantly. So be sure to do at a good pace and correctly whatever you choose to do.
Doc you talk a lot about external rotation mobility exercises for most body parts in your shorts, please share exercises to build internal rotation mob and strength (like hips and shoulders) cheers
You don’t need to do the goofy pipe thing. Just do an uneven farmer’s carry. It will do exactly the same thing and you don’t need to macguyver any nonsense together or risk bashing yourself. IF you want to make it more complicated just grab a 5 gallon plastic bucket from Home Depot and drop whatever “weights” you’re using into it and it will be more unstable and force you to engage even more.
Man i gotta thank you. About 2 years back i had a rare lung disease and lost a lot of muscle. The doctors told me it would take a long time for all the small muscles to get built back up. These exercises are actual life savers for me. I got a lot of quality of life back because of you. Thank you❤
yeah it's rare but some girls are just jacked man, it's alot harder for them and I don't even know if it's possible after having kids/getting past 30 (without roids) but it's possible
@@JayBrown-xs9psIt’s definitely possible after kids and after 30, it’s just most females become lazy/complacent or are too busy raising children to put as much time into it like they could’ve when younger. Same goes for females over 30 and working.
I like to do use a heavy dumbbell and press 1 hand at a time with a few seconds hold on the top maybe even walk around with the dumbbell up in the air controlled
Tried it! Used resistance bands and swiffer with a 10lb dumbbell bc I just had to go for it on the spot! Great to do right after a leg day workout!😛 Woooooo!
Spot on! Thanks to these videos, it has only been recently that I've been reassessing exercises based on whether they train the epaxial muscles (and really any muscles acting on the vertebral column) to be more stable or train the muscles to be unstable. Those muscles don't just hang out waiting to do their job. They must be educated one direction or another. Nice reminder! I now think about how every movement contributes to informing these paraspinal muscle groups for stability or instability because it will be in one of those directions.
@@Torn_Subject well mainly above 25. Below 25 with decent genetics it’s decently easy. Above 25 unless she is naturally very lean, it would be very hard to achieve and maintain an actual 6 pack without going roids and extreme dieting and training regiment.
"It only requires... 1.... 2... 3...." I am NOT walking into a gym with PVC !!! ...lol But I will try this at home. 🤗 Another good core workout is a Styrofoam seat (with no back) in a pool. Keeping yourself afloat is not easy.
I have seen 3/4 inch 6-8 ft sections of PVC or broom stick handles at a lot of gyms. Lots of people use them for stability, stretching, and warmup exercises; overhead squats, snatch, etc, and lots of stretching.
Facts, this girl probably weighs like 90 lbs. I saw a dude that was like 5' 6-8" absolutely yoked. I asked him how much he weighed. 170. I have to gain like 60 more pounds than him at that same bfp to even look remotely close. It takes so much more work to put on that extra size with any semblance of quality.
@@thomasspielman577 its not the 70’s and 80’s anymore? And men dont wear revealing clothing like women do.. shouldnt be allowed in public, thats literally a bra and underwear
As a horserider, I'd like to say that any rider who's serious about what they're doing SHOULD do that exercise to improve the posture and maintain it not matter what. Core strength and balance are extremely important for horseriding and reinforcing deep muscles plays an important part (which is also why pilates is often advised for horseriders as well)!
THANK YOU for this! I've never seen this drill and the small muscles next to my spine seem to hurt all the time and I couldn't figure out why! I am DEFINITELY giving this a shot and makes so much sense FOR ME and what I go through with pain. PRAY FOR ME
