I can't tell you how much you're doing for McDonald's as a brand. I can't even begin to explain how or why - but these videos give me mega McDs cravings. Every time you wrap up a cheeseburger I'm like "You know, I should grab a couple burgers."
lmao I did this the other day, got a Double Quarter Pounder (one of my favorites I actually haven't had in a LOOONNNNGGG time) cause I saw one of his videos where he made a few. It was delicious.
like when i worked at lowes we were delivering a washer and dryer and somehow their dryer flew away from us on the sidewalk and slammed down on the customers lawn, customer comes out yelling at us and were like tf we didnt do anything it was an accident, later the customer is yelling at my coworker goin IM GONNA CALL THE PRESIDENT OF LOWES, im thinking like yea ok even i know thats a load of hoarseshit lol
This is the kind of clickbait I'm okay with. What I don't like is when the title has practically nothing to do with the content of the video. When I see BS along the lines of "you won't believe what happened" I think "no I won't and I'm not gonna find out" and ignore the video out of spite.
My best customer experience to date: Many years ago (when I was a teenager back in 1987) I was in the drive thru at McDonald's with some friends. We had a very large order (10 or 12 Big Macs and Quarter Pounders with cheese along with fries and the works). When they gave us our order it was all screwed up. It had filet-o-fish and a variety of different burgers mixed in that we never ordered. Before I pulled away I went inside to tell them they gave me the wrong order. The manager was very embarrassed and gave me my money back (I think it was over $25....A LOT of money back then) and said I could keep the wrong order as he couldn't re-use it. Before I was about to walk away from the counter he had my correct order and gave it to me free of charge and kept apologizing. I think we had around 10 sacks of food that night free of charge and all of the unused food was put in our fridges and used for lunch the next day. Some 35 years later, I still remember that night as if it was yesterday and that kind McDonald's manager that went the extra mile. That manager clearly took great pride in his work and his customers. Whenever I watch these videos, Stephen reminds me of that manager and the great memories we had that one summer night.
@@joewarrior619 Thanks! I would have been happy just keeping the wrong order once he refunded my money (It was free food after all). I tried to leave but he was so persistent and apologetic.
I’m not sure why I’m so intrigued by these videos. The thought of actually eating McDonald’s gives me heartburn but it’s interesting to watch the process.
Nexium will help you with this issue. Take one pill in the morning on the days you plan on eating McDonald's. This should give you full heartburn protection. :)
Yea this not wholesome. McDonald’s sugar and sodium is through the roof. How do ppl think fast food works? Like try and recreate the exact taste of a McDonald or chick fila sandwich, you cannot it’s all fake chemicals and artificial products. Baby gonna have genetic defects
I've been watching your videos the last couple of days, and have to say, the negative stigma of working in fast food, is only from those who have never done it. My first job in high school was working at a Wendy's. The owner/operators cared so much about the kids they hired. They taught me so much about responsibility and "doing the right thing" for the customer. 28 years later, and I still keep in touch with them. I have said it though all my life, that 1st job in fast food, helped me learn how to be a productive, hard worker. I love your musings and even just watching you interact with your coworkers. It brings back some great memories. Keep the videos coming!!!
I completely agree! I'm almost 44 and while my very first job (at age 15) wasn't at a franchise, it was still in fast food and in a mall. I had the best employers and learned so many things but what still stands out is that I was taught to respect people and work hard. Some of my best memories are from working there!
Stephen, you are why I love McDonald's. Growing up in a small village, the comradery (though likely lacking to some degree these days) at our local McDonalds was amazing, and the team of employees were almost like family. Keep rockin' on man and love the videos!!
You know I haven’t had a craving for McDonald’s in years, I honestly try to avoid it for health reasons but your videos genuinely give me a sense of “oh okay, it’s not that bad”
trust me it's really not that bad as a worker at mcdonalds i pretty much eat nothing but mcdonalds food everyday now just because my schedule leaves me working well past dinner time and i'm still going strong and healthly after 5 months
@caleb have you recently had a blood test? I seriously doubt it. You don’t always know what’s under the surface and McDonald’s has been proven to have serious adverse health effects when eaten for long periods of time, cholesterol, heart disease and it’s not like it contains a lot of vitamins and minerals. Stop.
@@Willzadl for your information: yes i have. this isn't something i made up, after eating McDonalds basically every day i checked in with my doctor and the results were pretty much the same as it was before i started this job I'm still healthy with no sign of health issues
I worked at Burger Chef in the 70's. I got to know some of my regulars (with special instructions). They were always pleased when you 'knew' their special order. I had not realized how far McD had implemented the production line methods until I saw your posts
I know what you mean. I worked the drive thru at McD's back in the 80s. I started recognizing people's voices over the speaker. I knew the approximate time they'd pull in on their way to work in the morning. The owner was an ass. He kept us running with a "skeleton crew" 90% of the time. I was expected to run back and forth between two drive thru windows. We weren't allowed to ask people to park , so the line wrapped around the building. In efforts to get the line moving, we resorted to literally climbing out the window and walking food to people in the back of the line.
Wow, it's really cool when people go out of their way to leave a good review for a worker who went out of their way to help the customer. I've worked in customer service for years and it's not common that people go out of their way to tell the company the good review.
There are some mornings that I am beat tired and wander into a McDonalds for a quick breakfast. It’s always nice to have nice staff kindly greet me when I’m feeling like the rest of the day is already on my shoulders. Gives me hope for humanity.
Honestly man, you're doing a service. I'm a veteran looking for a job while I go to school, and I can't wait till you what you're videos have taught me about McDonald's. You really have made my mind up for me.
You have no idea (or maybe you do) how big a difference those acts of kindness make when you’re having a hard day. Especially from somewhere like McDonald’s where it’s very unexpected. Thanks for doing that.
Love this, because I feel the same way, I work at a grocery store and I always go out of my way as well to help them out when they need something, I work in various departments from cashier to the hot and ready foods department. This is because I want to treat customers as I want to be treated if I go into a store or restaurant. Great story.
Your videos are so awesome that I’m going to enjoy a meal at McDonalds. It’s been over 7 years since I had McDonalds. We love how you respect your art.
Yes I love stories like this. It wasnt a difficult amount of effort and it was a beautiful random act of kindness. Everyone should throw one into each and every day for someone. Be careful though, it gets addictive, you may start doing more than one! Just remember, pay it forward and spread the kindness...please.
These videos are interesting. Its neat to see how they changed they way they make and prepare the food compared to when I worked there in the 90’s during high school.
Since watching your videos for the past couple of weeks I’ve eaten more McDonald’s than I have the last few years. Every time I drive by one I think of this channel!
Yes, pregnancy cravings is absolutely a real thing as you do know lol, I think that was a very generous thing you did by making her gravy and biscuits, you’re a rare breed my friend as so many haven’t a clue how to be curtious and kind to others, keep being you, as others with hopefully follow.
Man. I love your videos. As a former McD’s worker. I can relate to your customer stories. Sometimes. It’s ok to break the rules to help someone who needs
Love your videos. I think they're fascinating. Everyone's familiar with the food, but we're not all familiar with the process. Definitely see it as you doing a positive thing for the brand
This reminds me a lot of this one dude that worked at a Panda Express my family semi-frequents. Idk if anybody else has had the same problem but for us it always takes a long time to order food and they mess up more often then we think they should. This one guy was perfect tho. Dude was always very polite, attentive, quick, and accurate with our orders. We probably only saw him like 3 times but we knew he was legit. We wanted to report him for doing such an amazing job but we didn't know how to. Hope he's doing well.
When I was like 6 I accedently descovered what it takes to be happy. It was on easter and i got a chocolate bunny from one of my teachers. I wasnt a fan of chocolate so on the bus i gave it to a younger kid. He was super happy and he gave me this cool ball that stuck to walls. That moment always stuck with me in my memory and as I grew older I realized that making other people happy made me happy. Sure I got the cool ball in returm that I didnt even ask for but the memory stuck with me cause of how happy that kid was for reciving a gift he didnt ask for.
It’s very rare things like that happen so yes you can continue to do that !! Cause you never know how many people that person will tell at work , church , or just talking amongst family and friends
This is the best advertisement for McDs. Its free and I guarantee you people are ordering food like crazy. I saw your video on making the quarter pounder with cheese and I started drooling. Went on the uber Eats app and saw there was a buy 1 get 1 free special on Quarter Pounder w Cheese. Best believe I ate two of those with a large fry. No shame.
I had a bit of a panic attack when you mentioned McDonald's cutting off All Day Breakfast. Happily, it looks like the restaurants in my area are doing it again. :)
Mr. Stephen I wish there was more McDonald’s employees like you with Today’s millennials you do Get good customer service anymore I wish you were in my town at our three McDonald’s and bring back good customer service you truly are an asset to the McDonald’s corporation and I think you and congratulate you on a job well done
Your vids made me crave the QP w/cheese I had he coupon code for bogo so I went. Am I told the girl who rang me up about your vids. I saw the one where you make them. So she preggos and expecting in Aug. super coincidence!! Liked and Subscribed!!
I never knew McDonald's has gravy biscuits or what they even are. As far as my story, working at Taco Bell decades ago, I remember what happened to me three times. I had an assortment of jobs there, including just working the cash register. One customer came back holding his burrito. I saw him about to throw it at me. Having quicker reflexes at the time, I ducked, with the burrito ending up being splattered on the wall behind me. This happened three times while working there. By the third time, I kind of sensed when a customer was about to do this. There were two reasons customers did this: Number 1 is the food was horrible and they wanted me to know it. Number 2 was the food was so good, that they just couldn't eat it all for themselves, and they had to share it. I never did, though, get a call from corporate about a food complement. People who love Taco Bell just keep their thoughts to themselves. ;)
I know right. This example of customer service is so wrong on every level. If it were true, his service approach was inconsistent, biased and un-relatable to most.
I work at a Taco Bell right now, and the customers seem to be a little worse than normal. I've worked several other jobs, and despite coming in to work every day with a bright attitude, they just SHOOT that shit down so low. I want to make the customers happy- working with people is the best part of the job- but somedays I just have to switch to making food. I just won't deal with them LOL.
@@savannahmccollum3609 I work at Hardee's and purposefully work in back with food only because people are, well, people. I don't like them, they seem not to like me, and it just works better for my anxiety and social awkwardness as well lmao.
@@savannahmccollum3609 it can depend on what the area you are in too. Live in a low-disposable income area, where its mostly seniors, and you get some nasty people.
I’m 52 and I worked at McDonald’s from 15-19. It got me all through high school and one year of college. I think one year of working fast food should be a criteria to get your diploma. If I was young now I’d definitely be at McDonald’s but multiple sclerosis put a stop to my career.
I think food service in general gives you a whole new perspective on life. I worked as a hostess and server at a Japanese restaurant from 15-17 and I feel it has helped me a lot with learning to communicate and empathize with others
@@boop9430 and we all lived payday. Kids today are spoiled brats and thank goodness both my kids had jobs at a very young age. Heck at 12 I worked at our amusement park and they’d pay me under the table bc none wanted to work. Cash is good!!!
Echoing your sentiment here. First job was at 13 working a lemonade stand for a food truck at festivals. Graduated high school having moved up running the grill. That job humbled me and I must admit, drives me to do work harder. I’m a successful businessman in NYC now. I never forget the years spent working behind the counter/grill/frier. I always tip cash and treat waiters and other restaurant staff with respect. It’s so obvious when dining with people that didn’t work in food service. Painful to see how they can treat their servers. Wishing you the best with your MS.
Great videos. I remember working at McD’s as a teenager in HS in the 80’s. Honestly, I’m truly amazed at how slow the operation appears now. The workers still have the drive but the operation appears cumbersome and not as fluid. The “Speedy” legacy is but a memory.
I have been a Chef for nearly 20 years. There are some people that “do it for a job”… totally fine, and why else would you do it??? But there are few that “take control”. This means that you put up with everything that sucks… And you do it day after day, never looking for any sort of acknowledgement that what you are doing is “right”. You have it. And it’s great to see some younger people taking that sense of pride and flourishing. Keep it up, for what it’s worth.
I did. A trade highscool in the culinary program as well as Johnson and Wales in RI. But don’t waste your money on the college part in my opinion… Real world experience matters so much more, and your peers will see it. I got more out of the Tech program from highscool than I could ever say for JWU. But that is my own experience.
@@applejacks8160 also, I couldn't agree more with the experience vs degree thing. I work in a machine shop, me and the veterans always laugh when a fresh college graduate comes in thinking they can do our jobs better. Wisdom trumps knowledge.....most of the time
I don’t know if I would work McD’s, but I would definitely want to work this guy. His passion and care for customers and operating with integrity and respect whilst being humble would make this a great working a environment.
The more I watch your videos, the more you make me wanna give McDonalds a chance again. I refused to eat there since 2015 because I just related it to being gross and terrible for you, but your workplace looks so clean and professional that it gives me hope. Good job.
I wish there was more people like you working with food PERIOD not just McDonald's. Instead we get people that do not care about they're job at all, giving old food, bad service, and not sanitary at all. Every chance they get they on they're phone instead of stocking up/refilling items, and cleaning. I don't eat out because of people like that.
you need to come to NC and train half of the locations here in your work ethic and style. bc you are an amazing dude. More McDonald's need employees like you.
I have story like yours. Woman arrived with two little ones ( approx. 3 and 5 years old) and is heavily pregnant. Her kids aren't being bad, just excited to be at McDonalds. She orders their food, let her 5 year old pick her toy for her kids meal and the go off in to the play place to wait. Like any good mom, she makes sure her kids are with her when she arrives at the counter for their tray of food. So she's juggling an excited 5 year old that wants to get back to our play place and a cranky toddler who just wants to eat her nuggets, on her hip. I log out of my register and offer to take her tray to her table. She smiles and thanks me, coaxing her daughter to eat first and then go play. I set the tray down and she gets to work putting her smaller child in a booster chair. She seems really happy for a moment of help. When I get back to my register my coworker smiles, cause it was the nice thing to do. However, my manager stomps over and asks why I left my register. I say 'Because there were no other customers... (which was true, lunch was over and my co-worker was helping the only other people in the restaurant that hadn't been served) ...and that lady looks like she needed help.' My manager just harumphs and tells me to never leave my register. I learned that day that despite the warm fuzzy feelings I got from orientation, managers don't care... They just want to be in control and throw their weight around. Even at the expense the customer. Months later the same idiot manager did it again. I was sent home so I could would a split shift by the Store manager - she wanted me to help with a large birthday party that evening, but I had opened. So she split my shift. No problem. I came back and star helping with the party. The idiot manager was on duty pulled me off a 40 person birthday (30 kids and 10 adults) party to run drive-thru and left only one employee (who busted her ass that night) to service the party. The party parents were pissed at the slow service, complained that it was my coworkers fault (try serving meals, ice cream and cake for 40 people by yourself all at once) I quit the next day.
When your videos came up in my suggestions I thought oh no this is going to make me not want to go to McDonald’s.. BUT NOPE I WAS WRONG you have made me not only crave it but I would actually love to work there now 😍😍😍
you could own this corporation someday, you've got a customer service mindset, and people skills. if all management in every business was as cool as you, the world would be a happier place.
Great on you bro. Unfortunately, I’ve had more bad experiences than good with McDonald’s the past few years. As a matter of fact, driving from Florida to Louisiana today, my family and I stopped at a McDonalds near Foley Alabama directly off I-10. Biggest dump I’ve ever walked in. Every table was full of food and trash. The floors were the same. No condiments, napkins, straws, or tea at the condiment station and it was covered in trash and ketchup. Every trash can was overflowing. The bathroom was nasty and had no toilet paper. My wife asked for some toilet paper and the employee set it on the floor next to the toilet. When my wife asked her if she’d put a fresh roll on the dispenser the employee just kept replying with, “excuse me, what did you say to me?” Then began mumbling, “this woman gone piss me off” while also mumbling something about quitting. Half a dozen employees, nonchalantly, walking around behind the counter while customers are asking if someone was gonna take their order. Nobody was lovin’ it. Only ordered because I promised my kids Happy Meals. Got those to-go and promptly left so my wife and I could go somewhere else to eat. Even if it’s only one establishment, don’t underestimate its negative affect on keeping potential customers from visiting any McDonald’s ever again.
