The funny thing alot of women are lecturing on the chemicals in these products and saying how it harms health. Meanwhile many of them are smoking, drinking, eating fast foods and don't excercise. That's more likely to do you in than a relaxer .

Unfortunately, I now have Progressive MS and it has further digressed, but this clip showed up, and I have stayed up all night long watching you cut, relax, color, condition and then some. My daughter who had beautiful blonde hair, had cancer at 19 and lost all of her hair, eyebrows and eye lashes. Her hair came back brown. When she lost her hair, we bought her a wig. She said, Mom, the black girls can spot that I’m in a wig, a mile away. But, the white girls ask me what kind of curling iron I use. Lol. She always got a good laugh at that. We are thrilled that she survived! Praise God! You are a very talented person. You’re very professional. You look very nice, well groomed. You are very knowledgeable too!

Yes, chemo changes the hair & it can change so many things. My hair came back thinner, curly & less manageable. It gets knotted very easily now (especially my hair that is closer to my neck?)& I have to “take care of it” when I never had to do much before. I use good conditioners & oils to help & not wash it too much. All that really matters is that she made it through & praise God she is still here & is Ok!! But it helps so much when you feel you look good & especially when you can go back to feeling like you self!! God Bless you, your daughter & your family!!!

Doesn't matter your ethnicity, we all do unnatural things to our hair to make it look better. Mine is super fine, thin and bland in color. Coloring gives my hair extra texture and bend, so it styles better. I'm ALWAYS buying special products, keeping my roots colored and my ends trimmed, just to keep it looking nice. None of it is "natural." It requires a lot of hard work, effort and often money. Crystal, I've enjoyed watching you work your magic. I know your arms are TIRED! 😄 My Stylist always says "Beauty never goes out of style." Whenever I leave her salon, I feel like I'm walking out with new hair, a new dress, new shoes AND the new handbag. Nice hair is the accessory that completes (or makes!) the look. Keep creating and making these ladies look and feel gorgeous ❤

I went natural after a lifetime of relaxers for about 5 years. That’s just enough time for me to realize that the longer natural hair gets the more time it takes to care for it. EXACTLY! I have done BOTH-natural & relaxed, and my hair did well also. If you do RIGHT by your hair, your hair will do RIGHT by you. As much as people don’t want to admit it, it’s not always the client, sometimes it’s the stylist that can cause a person’s hair not to thrive. People need/have to do what works for them time-wise and financially and they shouldn’t get pushback from OTHERS, for THEIR choice about THEIR hair, PERIODT! That natural journey with THICK and/or LONG 4C hair is NOT for the WEAK!

I to this day let it dry natural and no curling irons, etc. I am a Danish/German American. I loved the days of afro hair on African Americans, just beautiful. I did a deep conditioning, shampoo, then extra conditioning, nice rinse, blow dry, then quick straightening, and then tried to style it before getting interrupted by his multiple check in calls. He was so anxious that I stop the styling and put on a baseball cap to rush out for him to only get yelled at more for so called-'not being ready' because I was touching up my hair (trying to style it) before he arrived. My hair is longer than the ladies hair in this video too. I'm so grateful that you shared the time; the work; the process it takes for our natural hair to be flowing. Hiya...I'm watching from the UK.. ex barber of 32 years..I did do women's training and the level 3 that is mainly 90% hairdressing science. However women scared the life out of me and I preferred the super neatness of mens Barbering in the 80's. Thankyou for giving me a blast from the past with all the science behind our fantastic ancient trade, and educating everyone that it's way more than chucking hair on the floor till 4 😂😂. It's been a pleasure to sit and watch you and not sit rolling my eyes at the usual RU-vid " stylists" I was taught to cut most hair dry as possible,. especially if curly as we know exactly how much we're removing, people don't realise how much the hair stretches when wet, even more so curly and chemically treated.... Anyways... thankyou for being a true pro..🖤💈

I’m white and my hair was falling out after having become extremely ill with Covid for 9 weeks. I have gradually pushed my washing out to once a week to save my hair. My scalp is very dry now. But my hair is growing in much thicker. It was really thin before. I use a Jamaican black castor oil every few weeks. I love the care that you put into your hair and the versatility in styling. Salons are fun to watch in general. I grew up running around in my grandmas salon. I’m Caucasian and I have a genetic situation that gives me 4C hair at the roots and basically straight ends. My hairdresser said it’s really uncommon but not unheard of. My mom had no idea how to deal with it when I was a kid so I actually had a relaxer put in my hair in 1999. It was suchhhhh a long process, like 8 hrs or so but my hair was so silky soft and straight afterward. I think sometimes we just want our hair to be easy and that’s totally ok. I shaved mine into a Mia Farrow pixie cut for easiness now that I have 4 kids and I’ll never go back to long hair.

But watching you working as an artist, focused, positive and savvy, i find it extremely relaxing. Yoi don’t offer it as ASMR, but it’s the best for me to relax. The truth is as soon as i started watching this I RELAXED.. truly .. I stopped wheezing and somehow stopped coughing. This is the most relaxed i have felt in days and I even dozed off a bit. I am an advocate of natural hair because of finding out too late about the harm perms cause to our bodies. There have been several studies about them leading to fibroids and cancer. After having 25 fibroids removed from my uterus in 2014 (and will be undergoing another myomectomy in 2 weeks), I'll pass. On the other hand, I believe all women have the choice to do what they want to with their crown. I also appreciate a beautician/stylist who educates their clients while they work.

Yes, there is a connection and people should not be demonized for saying so. Yes, a lot of things cause cancer. My second cousin was a professional beautician, got services of perms from her in her apt. and long after she stopped being a beautician died of cancer. We are stating facts and not judging. I started relaxing my own hair and in the shower rinse my hair by dipping my head backwards and stopped because the risk of going blind was far too great and straight hair was no longer desirable. Tell your story and I'll tell mine.

When I was younger, I Loved straight hair and just wanted my combing and styling process to be easier. After going natural and growing my hair down to my waist, I realized there had been a shift in my thinking and preferences. I just fell out of love with straight hair, and as a result have never been tempted in any way to go back to relaxers. Everyone has a right to choose how they wear their hair, natural or relaxed. However, the knowledge I have gained about the horrible chemicals and the damage being done to relaxed hair makes me wish there was an easier, safer, non-toxic and better alternative for people who prefer the relaxed look and the convenience and permanence it brings. Because even if relaxed hair is well maintained, long, and looks healthy, it is still a damaging and irreversible process, and we never know what effects those chemicals will have on our health in the future. Still, I respect everyone's choice because natural hair is most definitely hard work for some people and we all have different preferences. I found natural hair hard to maintain too so I now have locs, which is also an irreversible process ( some people comb it out, not doing that), but loving it so much and my locs are almost waist length now and thriving.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as healthy hair with relaxers. Over time relaxers will cause permanent hair loss and possibly cancer. It makes me sad seeing my sister go back to such a detrimental way of taking care of their hair. Also, I am commenting as someone who had relaxers for 10 years. Always got mild. Always got no lye. After 10 years I still suffered from hair loss and I have fibriods. Luckily both are mild. Also, keep this on mind. Not one of those girls on those boxes actually had relaxers in their hair. Some random person on twitter asked where they were and they came out in force. Turns out their were all type 3 hair girls with a blow out.

I second that customer's emotion. I was natural for 9 years. I woke up one morning in 2021, looked in the mirror and decided to get a perm. I was tired of that look. I enjoyed it, had fun with it, received many compliments but enough was enough. I called my mom and asked for her blessing.. 😄 Now, it's long again. I'm growing a "Cassie Mohawk" and I love it!!

My hair is unprocessed and somewhere between straight and just a little wave...even when using a flat iron it still looks no where near as shiny and healthy as her client's hair looks after having it processed and flat ironed! Ive never had my hair done where it didnt look fried afterwards, this is incredibly impressive work. Your clients are so blessed to find someone who has so much knowledge and talent, its not that easy to find.

Products!!!! You have to have good products abs know how to use them. Also if you blowdry that makes a difference. The direction can smooth or roughen that cuticle layer or outer layer of the hair making it look and feel rough. Also rinse conditioner in cool water. Invest in good products and stay away from products where the first ingredient is alcohol or water. Water is usually going to be the first ingredient in most cases which is fine but if you see coconut oil first then water for example you will know that your product isn't watered down so much.

OMG what an excellent job. You are amazing and know with confidence your abilities. Wish I coulf find a haircare professional like you. The time on her hair was long and you didn't miss a beat. You are amazing to watch. Her hair looks gorgeous and healthy. Wow you're so good at what you do and also a scientist, I'll be bragging about you for real. If your ears are burning and your nose is itching it's me talking about you. 😊 so glad I happened upon your vid.

People are very fortunate that you decided to be a beautician. With your intelligence, you could have easily been a doctor or an amazing nurse. Or even somewhere in the chemistry field and research. I know it’s my first time watching your videos, but I know high intelligence when I see and hear someone talk. You, my friend, are an asset to the field you chose to do. 🌸
