I thought there was a woeful lack of this song on the internet, so I uploaded it from an old mix cd I found in my car. I don't claim ownership of this song in the slightest!
i know this one was posted in like 2012 but the coolest part about neutral milk hotel is how unreleased shit keeps popping up, especially since some of the most intense shit was never on an official album
Jeff Mangum reads about Anne Frank one day and falls in love with her. When he finds out she died he imagines himself going back in time to save her but he knows that's not going to happen. He does like to imagine that she reincarnated into the siamese twin of a spanish boy, who is known as the two-headed boy, he thought that maybe that would lead into doctors surgically removing her from him, and that thought frightened him a lot. In his dreams, Jeff sees Anne alive and crying. And one day he sees a ghost in his bathroom which he believes to be of Anne Frank. All that Jeff Mangum would want after that was to have a child and love him/her as he would love Anne Frank. Later in life Jeff meets a girl, who's a few years younger than him, who makes him enjoy life a lot more and appreciate all the strange things that can happen to someone. The girl suffered from previous abusive relationships and domestic violence involving her alcoholic dad and had attempted suicide multiple times, all of that saddened Jeff a lot, but he was glad that she was alive. Eventually he tries to impregnate her but she refuses to have the child and aborts it with medicine. That episode was extremely traumatic to both of them, but in time they were able to forget it all, and the existance of the child eventually became a lost memory lost deep within their consciousness. One day they decided to ride on a ferris wheel when it set on fire and fell into the water, and as that happened, he recalled all the moments he spent with her as the water started filling the cabin. He survives but she doesn't. That makes him believe that his dream girl shouldn't, or maybe doesn't exist. He falls into a deep depression and thinks about everything and about how, at this point, all he wanted was to meet his girl in the clouds again and have their ashes thrown out of an aeroplane over the sea.
@@Reionder nahhhh. I’m not with that concept for the music. Everybody wants to project all this Anne Frank concepts into all the music, and time travel nonsense, but there’s far less about Frank than everyone assumes. Like it’s literally only a few tracks on Aeroplane, I really really don’t think the other songs are about it. It’s mad corny when people want to plaster this time travel Holocaust onto all the songs and deplete the poetry of what the other songs are speaking about. A LOT of these songs are talking about incest and American Christian religious zealotry.
@@Reionder Jeff had a friend who killed herself after they stopped talking. I believe a lot of the darker songs are about that situation. Like three peaches
@@matthewsetlak5589 It's 3 different parts. Ruby Bulbs is the one that goes "I need to taste your voice in my mouth", and then it's often followed by the Beautiful Baby and Swimming In Your Speakers verses.
I swear the entirety of NMHs catalogue was written specifically about my late ex Jessica. She only made it to 20 years old but holy fucking shit did that woman live fast. She was a magical being and anybody who knew her would've told you the same. It's been 4 years and I still miss her every second of the day. Spent 7 years going on and off with her, teenage love and all that. She was too wild and pure for this world.
May I inquire as to how, exactly, Jessica left this world? I’m going to guess either an OD or a car accident just bc of her age… (Jsyk - I’m absolutely not judging whatsoever about however/whatever it was that caused her (body) to die…I’m just always curious about everything.) And I know this is pretty random & is prob (or *definitely* ) gonna sound more than a bit odd/bizarre/crazy (your choice of which word(s) you’d like to enter there😹), but if you want her to hear you, you should talk to her *by calling her name* - even out loud (well, for obvious reasons-maybe if doing so out loud, it might be best to do so when you’re alone & not around anyone, lol…). Just always be sure to actually call her by her name if/when you’re trying to “find” her - for when you want her to “hear”/come to you. ♥️
What is he saying at the end? Beautiful baby, heart filled with angels? Or beautiful baby, are filled with angels? I can’t tell and I would really like to know 😭
