My mother got a chair just like that when I was in elementary school twenty years ago at a reenactment. I think the design itself is just really old and they just both wrote up some plans for a chair that's been around for hundred years.

April Wlikerson is a awesome content creator as well as many others. I watch content creators with small shops because I could relate to them. Then what happens? Their channel blows up and they start getting sponsorships, getting all the fancy and expensive tools, and of course....a much bigger workshop. Now, I can no longer relate to these content creators, because they no longer have to be limited by their shop size, tools, and whatnot's. Please, don't get me wrong. It is awesome they were able to grow their channel and I wish all of them much continued success. However again, I can no longer relate to them. Also, now they portray a celerity status demeanor (which is sad). I still watch some of them now and then if it is of interest to me and/or I can relate to the subject matter. Go back and watch some earlier videos of your favorite content creator, and compare to them to their most recent videos. Again, I do wish them all much success. I have been told if you don't like what you see on TV....Change the channel. Which I do. By the the way....I enjoyed your video. You have a good sense of humor and you make your videos interesting. There are a lot of designs - such as that one - that I'd have to say are in the public domain based on how frequently and likely they are made and used by woodworkers the world over. It is always fun to see someone deliver their own twist or take kn a classic. Now, if it is a thing which someone has absolutely created from scratch and never publicly shared a video on, then you're likely splitting hairs. If someone shares a video of them making a thing, they'll likely inspire others to attempt it.

I've been complaining about it getting over 100 here for the last week or two, but the temps up here aren't nearly as bad as they are for you. I had to use a trencher a few years ago, I had to board up the windows and I found myself wishing for full body armor and a helmet to protect from all the rocks it was flinging at me. If you are interested, I'll try to find the website address that should have the parts you need to permanently fix your 'new' table saw. They carry a lot of stuff, and they were able to get me parts I needed to fix my Craftsman jointer that was built in 1981, so I'm guessing they would have the parts you need.

🤣I can relate to the table saw! My Sears-special got hit by a car. (My daughter drove into the woodshop during driver's ed). It's a little bent but is ok for cutting stuff you don't care about gluing up. Then I acquired a used Delta contractors saw - from the dark ages. I discovered (or should I say my son discovered) quickly that there were NO safety features on this puppy. I had to clean the rust and paint off it but it cuts a lot truer. It is heavier than all get-out and with no wheels, it doesn't go very far, very often. A new saw? Now that would be nice!
@worstworkshop

I have two daughters also and I love involving them in woodworking projects as well! Most excellent! How is the old Craftman table saw holding up? However, there are so many of them out there that maybe buying two would be better.
@worstworkshop
@worstworkshop 11 месяцев назад
I'll be honest. It's dead. It has a bent arbor, and the motor mount I built isn't working out. There's a ton of vibration, and the pulleys keep falling off. They're a little jacked up too. It's just this saw though. I might just grab another one and use this one for parts.

Well, it helps if you clean it. At least, that's what I've heard.

That kind of design has been around for years probably well before April or Jay were even born.

I figured it was, but had trouble finding any history of it. Another viewer recalled one from over forty years ago. Do you know anything about them?

Just built several of these with plans from Black Creek.... .....and did a serious LOL at Death trap. My 20+ y/o Delta died 2 weeks ago.

They probably both lifted the design from a 50 year old magazine.

Oh, for sure. It's commonly called a "nesting chair," and it's a really old design. Thanks for watching!

I made a couple of those in '82 so my wife and I could use them when canoe camping. A guy I worked with had a couple made by his grandfather and he let me borrow one for a weekend to get dimensions. They were originally made with straight stiles/legs so when 'folded' the chair would lay flat in a canoe. You could put your tent and sleeping bags on them, keeping them out of the water that always finds its way into canoe bottoms. Then use them to sit around the camp site at night. While our canoe was sold when we could no longer lift them onto the roof of the van the chairs are still fine.

What a brilliant idea. I can just see them in the bottom of a canoe. Thanks for sharing!

You and her are both awesome woodworkers. I see a lot of hate for her and Tamar both on various social media platforms, and I don’t get it. One person called one of them woodshop Barbie and a hack. I mean the barbie part was funny lol, but them being a hack is just stupid.

She's a MUCH better woodworker than I am. I hope you saw the end of the video when I gushed about how great she is. I've watched her since she first started almost ten years ago, and have tremendous respect for her. I don't poke fun at any creator I don't love.

@@worstworkshop yes sir I absolutely watched it all. My apologies if you thought I was trying to imply anything. But I’m the same way. I tell my kids that if I didn’t pick on them, they’d think I didn’t love them any more. 😂

May I, with full respect, kindly ask you to upgrade your table saw with a riving knive? You are much to valuable for the workers community to stop yourself eventually with a piece of wook shooting back into your stomach...

@@worstworkshop That is the solution I am pursuing with my old Craftsman saw. Was never happy it didn't have a riving knife (don't believe it even has that as an option to easily mount one), but adding a splitter to a zero clearance plate should do the trick. Micro Jig has one, Kreg does too I believe.

My 2 cents if they matter, is that it’s not about stealing. I guess if you’re creating content that’s a different story. But as far as making something to sell? They don’t live in my town. So if I use either one, technically I’m stealing too. But they aren’t here. And why put it on RU-vid if you aren’t expecting people to be “inspired”?
@worstworkshop

Yep. I was just poking fun at them.The design predates both of them anyway, and from what I understand, they're good friends.

Of course! I actually have nothing but good things to say about both these creators, whom I've followed forever. Watch the video and you'll see. The stealing thing is just a joke, and clear it all up at the end of the video. FYI, the nesting chair goes back at least a hundred years. That's part of what made it funny to me. If you find it offensive, accept my apology. I was just poking fun at some of my heroes.
