Texas voted to secede in 1861. This happened in 1860. There were US Army units stationed in Texas at the time (1). Also at this point in time the US Army totalled around 16,000 officers and men. Spread all over the the United States and its territories. From the Pacific Northwest to Florida. From San Diego to Maine. This included frontier forts, forts guarding major ports, some training facilities etc. The total area of this around 3,120,000 sqm. This comes out to 195 square miles per man for the US Army. Even if you subtract a 1/3rd for the settled eastern half you're still at 120 square miles per man. 1) R E Lee was actually in command of a calvary regiment (likely understrength) in Texas prior to being re-assigned in the Washington area in 1859

Another great story about Comanche raids in Texas, I have noticed that even since the earliest days the mere presence of firearms has stopped a lot of Native American attacks without actually being used, just like today on the streets.
@wyldvigilante
@wyldvigilante 4 месяца назад
Not accurate information. There are many documented confrontations between the Comanche engaging their enemies with arrows against bullets. Arrows held in one hand while firing with the other from horseback not only allowed Comanche to fire fast but also provide a moving target which is harder to shoot. The old musket loaders were especially slow and offered no advantages. When better weapons became available Comanche obtained them in raids or through Comancheros who they traded with.

You should do a video about Nevada's Paiutes tribe and the giant red haired cannibals that they told of defeating in Lovelock Nevada by trapping them in a cave. I've seen a few videos pop up recently about skeletons being found in the cave that verify parts of their claims. Not sure how accurate they are because I haven't looked into it deeper. But it wouldn't surprise me with all of the remnants of the past that are being discovered in recent years.
