They sure weren’t friendly. I read about whites making agreements with natives regarding land and goods then breaking the deal and Indian agents taking and selling the agreed upon goods and food and that is what caused the Indian aggression but they were cruel on their own and before any deals were made it seems.

That’s a big turn of events. Natives took the outbreak instead of the colonists. The sick people went from being a burden to and possibly endangering the whole operation to knee capping native resistance in the area.

There are no “woke” corporatists. That’s an oxymoron. No need to use “woke” which has been used among black and other urban/minority communities for decades to discuss the history that is not taught in schools and mainstream… like the effects of colonialism and patriarchy. You are providing history that good to be taught, so why the need to be racist by misusing a term that means “awake”.

Schuylkill = SKOOL-kill. Great episode. We know we had some run-ins and misunderstandings between the indigenous people and the settlers, but we never really hear sources like this. It's pretty cool to hear the surnames that are still popular here in the Skook.

The whole "colonists deliberately spreading disease with infected blankets" is a myth, people didn't even know about germs until germ theory began being investigated from the 1850's
@Thomas-uv3tk

During the shootout at the OK Corral Doc Holiday was really Jesse James. When he tried to surrender under the white flag after the war the Yankees shot him in the lung. This would cause him to catch Pneumonia. But he still lived to be 103.

I've always wonder why modern people would assume olden time people with no knowledge of the germ theory of disease would still know to give infected blankets to the Indians. Another thing. These diseases killed the Europeans too. It's not like those people knew enough about disease transmission to spread it with fabric.

i wonder if james robertson is my 3rd great grandfather. did he or his children move to missouri? we were taught the clanton side of the family was the relative who negotiated with the native americans this is making me wonder if it was the robertson side.

I've heard the story about the breaking in half of the knife before. I would just never break my knife in half for someone like that! I'd be like "sorry, but since you somehow lost your knife, you're either going to have to go without one, or stay with me until we reach some sort of trading post where you can buy one."!😃 A knife was a precious, precious piece of kit on the frontier!

I really do not believe that enough was known about disease back then to wage biological warfare. Even using such advanced weaponry as blankets.

Um the chickamauga were a band of Cherokees led by Dragging canoe..my ancestor.. and in 1830 one of my other ancestors was on the cadron river in AR heading to Indian territory..and she died of a Cholera epidemic.. there's a plack by the cadron with the names of the victims and my ancestor Suzie ward is on the plack..if you ever do a story on Nancy ward (Naneyhi) and Dragging canoe i bet it would be interesting

My 5th great grandfather was Doublehead and signed many treaties with Dragging Canoe. I think he became principle chief after Dragging Canoe died. He was later murdered by the Ridge and 2 other Indians. And yes the Chicamauga were Cherokee.

Sadly it`s more likely Alice Todd was killed and probably why nothing more was heard of her after being taken by the Comanches. Taking into consideration this was 160 years ago, in historic terms not ancient history.

I’m thankful for this channel. People need to know the truth about our history and we need to dispel the myths and lies that native Americans were completely peaceful victims. Early settlers were viciously attacked for no reason on countless occasions-prompting men to take action to protect their families.

I came here for authentic Bigfoot stories yet was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism and passion you gave the audience. It reminded me of watching Dr.Quin Medicine Woman. Keep making these masterpieces but please I have a selfish favor for you? You're an amazing storyteller, please collaborate or make a video from eye witnesses on American Cryptids!? A famous one I recall is the Theodore Roosevelt one and many many more ones involving the Westward expansion. I myself am Amerindian and my grandmother told us a lot of places named Devil here in America is simply local Indian translations to English for areas infested with the Men of the Wild/ Forest. We asked what she meant and she recalled how her own grandparents would warn her as a young lass how certain areas you don't go. These places people and especially children would be taken in baskets by the Wild Men. Where she lived there was a particular nasty place called Devil's Pike or something. Well anyways thats all, I love your video. And thank you for teaching me something new in American history.

My ancestor was Nancy ward ( Naneyhi) she was a interpreter in the french and Indian war and helped Defend a fort and is said to have saved Daniel Boones life and im also part Delaware..some of these guys back then probably went by the they all look the same rule..when alot of us weren't the same or did the same things..and my grandma has some German.and our ancestor was a gent by the name Koiner and Keindant... we're also related to some of the dutch who settled from the dutch reformed church..but alot of the barbaric and terrible things done by one tribe would not be done by other tribes.. everyone is different and you can't vilify an entire group of people just because of the actions of some of their kinsmen.. But that's just disgusting scalping children For being scared and just so sad 😢.. please excuse my lack of punctuation my eyesight isn't the best and this is the first time I've heard of Regina and amazing and i like her already her story.. take care and God bless
