Jack and Jen went up a hill to fetch a pail of water Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jen successfully sued the property owner for failure to maintain the safety signs on the path on the hill, winning Jack a $100 million dollar settlement.
I was fine with the issue overall. I think it's worth getting some breathing room with a new series, particularly one that's doing a lot of resetting. I'm also glad to see Jack back (if that is him), as I've always liked the character, though I have to admit that I like him from a design perspective more than anything. As for the two of them as a couple...meh, I don't have strong feelings about it either way.
Real bad idea. That's two issues of nothing, and then build up. How much is it priced nowadays 4-5 dollars. At least it having build up is an improvement over last issue. Remember days of future past was like a two issue adventure too.
I really knew nothing about jack of hearts but this definitely got me interested, and now I certainly would be open to a “She-Hart” relationship, they seem cute together
I'm a frequent watcher of your channel, so imagine my surprise when my own art flashed across the screen! Loved it, thanks! Keep up the great content. :D
I enjoyed the issue it definitely made me care more about Jack of Hearts then ‘being the one that kicked off Avengers Disassembled’ But I would’ve preferred maybe another issue before getting into Jack of Hearts character study. I like the quiet and smallness of the series and I hope it stays that way, just I came for She-Hulk, I got A issue which half of was establishing the status quo and then we get supporting character second issue
No clue if u are sarcastic or not but i havent seen the character since silver surfer comics in the 90s. I clicked on this video to see if it was the same character.
He's one of the large number of 70s expansion heroes that all kinda came out at the same time, and his stories weren't exactly setting the world on fire, so he got lost in the shuffle. He did have his time on the Avengers, but this was at the point where the Avengers were Cap, Iron Man, and whatever randoms the bullpen couldn't think of any solo stories for.
Seeing Jack back is a wonderful time for me who has always enjoyed the more obscure Avengers, just because I have a fascination in B, C and D list characters in general. Seeing him back in action makes me excited to see what's going to happen. Now if Marvel will just tell us what Living Lightning, Firebird and Stingray have been getting up to lately.
I would love to write a D list avengers book. Something where they have to really really work together in order to get anything done because none of them are heavy hitters the way the main avengers are. Something like... The leftovers?
My bonkers theory is that someone obsessed with Jen made themselves into another Jack of Hearts, either downloading Jack’s brain patterns onto their own or some other technobabble gobbltygook.
If anything, this ship should be called Jeck. Or Jan. ... No, definetly Jeck is better. And is so nice to see a series that finally takes things slow, nice and easy. Apocaliptic scenarios are fun, but when you chain one after the other, they stop feeling... apocaliptic. There are no stakes when you don't have room for a bit of slice of life comedy.
I'm afraid that as far as the shipping name goes, I'm going to have to agree to disagree with Jeck. Jan's nice, but as for me, I'll stick with shipping them as Jack of Hulks.
I always loved JoH -so angsty in a "burdened by power, trapped in my suit, I hate my body" kinda way that spoke to my damaged pubescent soul. I bet artists hating drawing his costume back then, but that level of detail is par for the course now. Shippers goggles activate!
One of my favorite things about 1990s She-Hulk comics is the fourth wall breaking, or, in She-Hulk's case, smashing. While Deadpool is a crazy person who *thinks* he's in a comic book. She-Hulk is a sane person who is *aware* she's in a comic book, to the point where she can pull characters from previous panels, or turn a page to interrupt someone else's dialog. I always hoped that writers would keep that aspect of the character, but, sadly, that does not seem to be the case.
Deadpool became attached to the Meta-Force (lol) after She Hulk gave it up. She still remembers the Fourth Wall, although she can no longer see it... (Source: My Ass.)
If you like that stuff, check out Gwenpool! It starts as "girl Deadpool" and develops into "actually, she's sane and being fourth wall aware not as a joke is pretty scary"
I have honestly gotten super worn out by how comics seem to go from big thing to big thing so having a couple issues that are set up, world building, etc. makes me really want to invest in reading this series (broke though I might be). Also I am *ALWAYS* for more representation of relationship dynamics that involve more dominate women so mark me down for team Jeck!
You can have both small and big in one issue. Think about how someone picking up she hulk for the first time would walk away. A boring character that doesn't do anything.
Okay had to read this before I watched the video. So far so good in my opinion. Jen is being written as Jen, not as a female version of Bruce's dissociative Identity disorder. The story you mention drove me away from Avengers. As for the Jackjen, or is it Jenjack relationship, I'm going to wait and see.
The issue was just people talking and yet it was more enjoyable than most comics. Let’s you know it’s well written and that things don’t have to be all action all the time.
I've had a soft spot for Jack since his eighties mini-series. The guy took Parker Luck and turned it up to eleven. And personally, I don't have that much faith in Stark either.
I picked this up after your #1 review. This is a very fun book and really my first She-Hulk. I'm liking it. Man it is hard not to put on those ship goggles.
Well, so, like, I've never been a Comic Book person whatsoever...🚫...I'm purely a cinematic/movie fan kinda person...💁🏻...but recently I came across a Comic Book store and went in to check it out to see what all they had for sale, because I collect action figures and whatnot, and whilst there I decided to look at the Comic Book section and I came across the new issues of She-Hulk, and I instantly fell in love with the cover art...❤️💯✔️ So now I'm hooked on buying the new issues of She-Hulk...👌🏼 Soooooo is this a good place for someone like me to jump in and start as a new Comic Book fan/reader...❓️ Also while there I stumbled across a pack of Comic Books with the first six issues of Soldier X, and I picked those up as well because they looked very interesting...👍🏼 And I also bought one issue of a Harley Quinn Comic Book series too just based off of the cover art being so incredibly awesome...🤘🏼 Soooooo, I don't know, I guess I'm just wondering if I'm doing good and if I'm doing things right as a first time Comic Book purchaser whom is just dipping their toe in the water for the first time...❓️❓️❓️ I also seen a solo Joker Comic Book series that I was checking out, I picked up a few issues and flipped through some of them, and they seemed very interesting also, so should I start in on that as well...❓️❓️❓️ I'm new at this whole Comic Book thing and just haven't gotta clue, so any input and thoughts on this would be much appreciated...🤙🏼
I like the way they're doing it. I've always like She-Hulk as a character tho. They'll get to the action. I'm kinda burnt out out big events, action, action. Let's see were it goes. I'm not a big fan of the art but at least it doesn't look like a child did it.
Personally, I've always shipped Jen and Hawkeye, I think they'd have a great, Chaotic energy between the two of them. I even wrote a comic once of the two of them acting as a lawer and process server who specialise in civil court cases brought against super villains and superheroes. I wrote that they hooked up after a big Avengers battle, and Clint offered to help Jen out with a job the next morning. The job went well (they served papers to Speed Demon on behalf of his ex-wife for unpaid child support), so they started working together officially. The both agreed that a romantic relationship between the two of them would be *a really bad idea* but their friendship really solidified their working relationship. I should probably try and find that story again, I still think I could do something with that set-up... 🤔
Jack is an interesting character. From his first appearance he had potential, and still has potential, but it all gets squandered when the majority of writers think of him as Avengers Disassembled guy. He also didn't kill Scott. Scott was saved via time travel, so Jack exploded for nothing. Thanks Scarlet Witch.
@@dallasgrey4247 Marvel will never confirm it, but it is obvious. The Kree show up, couple of other weird characters show up (sorry it has been awhile since i read the story). SW is make these things real with her power.
7:42 Ant-Man everywhere😭😂 and Jack is living his best life, he's back alive and hopefully not a clone and got a girlfriend and hopefully it doesn't go bad
I've been enjoying this She-Hulk run so far because it's just chill. It's a comic I can read when I'm feeling sleepy instead of demanding my full attention.
I really enjoy these books where there's more personality and life stuff going on than action for some reason. Also, I kinda hope she never puts shoes back on again.😏
When Jen said Hank I thought she was talking about Hank McCoy (Beast). I'm glad they went over JOH's background so we know what this writer is pulling from for this story. I'm on board.
Marvel Zombies Supreme technically takes place on Earth 616 so the assumption made by many is that, that was classic Jack. That whole mini is so tongue in cheek though, it wouldn't surprise me if just not a lot of thought went it's way.
I like those She-Hulk covers.NICE.I prefer She-Hulk as the sexy, model type, not the HULKED out rage monster.I've always liked Jack-OF-Hearts,snazzy costume and all.I think Marvel at times didn't know what to do with him.
For some reason, I keep hearing a certain song by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (featuring Stevie Nicks). Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around. Shipping and Handling free with this issue. Well, maybe not Handling…
Gonna be honest, I love the idea of She-Hulk but I found myself more confused at some of the vagueness in everything i've read. 😂 I love B/C/D+ listers, and jump at the chance to collect any niche hero runs i come across. Plus, I instantly fell in love with Jack too. Only downside is overall I felt like I was REALLY out of the loop this time! I've never read a she-hulk run before (I was not interested in roid she-hulk), and I do think plot points would've been heightned by having a classic she-hulk backround. Still, it's a really great start, and Jack and Jen seem interesting & as a possible pair. :) Can't wait to see where it goes!! 😂😊
Liking the look, Sasha! I like she Hulk, but this one does a lot of explaining and not enough She-Hulk. Favorite Sasha Quote: "I didn't forget Jack, how dare you. I just didn't think about him."
I started watching your videos and I’m really enjoying them. I like the 20 to 40 min videos. You analyze comic books so much and I learn a lot from your videos. Thanks. I also really digging jack. I love She Hulk including the tv show but I never heard of this jack guy. He’s kind of sweet, I actually like him. 😋
My Comixology app has indeed changed -- so I can't buy comics any more. Guess hearing you run through them is the next best thing. Admittedly I wouldn't be buying this (well, maybe the trade, when it's all on special for the new show). For some reason I am reading the Brian Vaughan run of Swamp Thing, which is distinctly odd. Anyway, this is a greatly entertaining video, as per usual.
She-Heart? Eh, not feeling it. I like the idea of two once confident heroes having to try and pick up the pieces again, only to have to do so together, it's just that I miss that pep and fun that She Hulk's personality had. Maybe that will be explored in future issues.
I hate this Comixology takeover by the way, if I just want to see what DC released this week? Nope, screw you, says comixology. I can’t believe I have to scroll through everryyyyy manga and random thing released that week!
“ My Word The VAPORS “ LMAO Sasha You Are The Best 💯 Jack is Winning BIG TIME, So Far…Which of course means Shulkie’s Heart Can’t Last…No Lasting Relationship in Comics Except The Richard’s , as long as you keep Sue from Hunky Royalty ( Namor, T’Challa, even Doom 🤏🏾) Cute Comic Nice & Light Hearted “AtThe Time Of This Comment” …Keep Up The Outstanding Work Sasha 🖖🏾
Love the heavy on slice of life take, especially when it comes to Jen.....not looking forward to a live action version....you know they are going to ruin her....More She Hulk please!!!
Weirdly I'd ship Ben Reilly and She-Hulk since I also ship Pete and MJ. I'm skeptical this is the real Jack but what's the likelihood someone ever stays dead?
Honestly I never take Marvel Zombies as canon and just assume it's its own universe pocketed away from Earth 616. And yes I know originally that zombie Spiderman and Wolverine were dumped in a main earth and that's what started it i just choose to think that's some other super unlucky earth
Marvel's really pushing this character all of a sudden? Jack of Hearts also made a surprise appearance at the end of "Silver Surfer: Rebirth #2" this month, revealing he stole and gave the Reality Gem to some yet-to-be-seen nemesis he's serving. (???)
Kurt Busiek made me fall in love with Jack. Because of him I've gone back and dug up old issues so I can have his brief continuity. Would have loved to see what Kurt would have done with him given more time to play with the character. That design is full on 70s Marvel which I'm always onboard for. However, I found this issue wanting. While I love issues that give us a breather to develop the characters, this all felt like an inflated recap page, and for those already familiar with the continuity it was an "okay we get it" moment. It was a fast read which I always love, but I felt I didn't get enough substance for the cover price.
Hmm. I can't help but notice that Jack's costume has become noticeably less impossible to draw consistently this time around. Fred Hembeck's old gag strip about it wouldn't work nearly as well with this outfit.
Meh. There wasn't enough She-Hulk in this She-Hulk canon. The whole thing was just a summary of how Jack got to where he is. I don't mind slice of life so long as there's an actual plot and the main character actually gets some attention. But this was disappointing.
I don't know a lot about Marvel but I picked up the Silver Surfer Rebirth series and it looks like Jack of Hearts is there too. Not sure. Could be wrong.
She Hulk with the Fantastic Four is my favorite with the Avengers she is just another power hitter. With the Fantastic Four she was so many things lawyer , best buds with Susan Storm Johnny flamed on her . Potential baby sitter for the kids etc.
I like Rainbow Rowell's stuff on Runaways a lot, but she's one of the more decompressed writers out there. I'm not sure I would feel like I got my money's worth if I bought this issue of She-Hulk.
It’s funny that you bring up shipping, because I only recently found out about this, and how insane some shippers are. Do you know there’s people that spend hours every day creating relationships for characters, and will viciously attack others about it. This is one of the most bizarre behaviours I’ve ever seen, these people seem beyond crazy to me.
Jen Walters is a delight to read about, just going her big green life. I hope the Disney+ series captures this. I have high hopes: Tatiana Maslany is amazing!
For all those people on hills, I'm sitting on the fence. I cam't remember Jack at all. Maybe I completely missed him back in the day, so I can just rate the story on its own merits. No nostalgia attached.
It might be silly, but the image of She Hulk picking up an ambulance stuck in traffic and carrying it so it can get where it needs to go makes me smile pretty big, it’s a little thing, but it just shows what a big heart the Jennifer Walters character has.😊😊😊
Not all superhero comics have to be action comics (as it were). I will have to see Jack in casual attire before I can decide how I feel about him and She-Hulk. In general though I have no issues (as it were) with a slice of life super hero comic; not all super=ness or heroics have to involve punching criminals.
Really went with Sultry for amnesiac jack. I'll say the positive is that the more I saw Jack's costume, the more I liked it. But maybe give him a hat like the card. But a problem with the character is that his powers are so unrelated to his hero name. And seemingly to anything about him based on this flash back(like how he got them and what gave it to him). Seems like marvel has a surplus of energy characters that can do the same stuff. I get it's a pun on his name but what is that a clue for his enemies? There's a disconnect in design. And also the issue with that they still haven't shown what a she hulk adventure would look like.
